Assassin's Creed 2 Deluxe Edition
 –

Runs great on 1.7.6 IMac.

If you have a good Mac, this shouldn't lag at all. I had to reinstall the game a few times to fix the installer, but now it works fine. If you're a noob to AC, you will get probably 40 hours out of it in one play through. Controls... Yeah. Not the best. It took some getting used to (And looking at the instructions every ten seconds) but now I'm comfortable with them. If you have an Xbox or Ps3 controller, use that instead of keyboard/mouse.

You also get certain deluxe features with the purchase, including:
The Bonfire of the Vanities and Battle of Forli DLC for free (Sequences 13 and 14.)

Black Bonus Skin for Ezio (Go to a tailor to dye your skin that Colour)

And a few bonus areas to explore.

Great plot, beautifully rendered maps. A must have.

Tiny & Big in GrandPa's Leftovers
 –

Innovative, unique, and off the wall...

I had played this game's development piece on the PC before they turned the physics/slicing engine into a full game. I was actually surprised they made a Mac version.

This game is inspired, oh, and really wacky (oddball humor). Think back to the days of MDK and Giants Kabuto! But even that analogy doesn't fit because of what you can do in this game. I think I wasted a few hours just slicing stuff up to see what secret may lay beyond. Slicing up boulders to fall just right so they stack up to this high ledge which looks like it had a goody or something, if not just to climb up to admire the view.

Then there is the story. Well, a ridiculous one. Guy robs you of some underpants (ooookay), but the authors coulda used any item. It may not have been as unique though as underpants. The story progresses, and ends, but has a lot of interesting things along the way to do and mess with.

Wasn't much a fan of the neon blue/black levels. Those areas got a bit boring. The desert ones were great, and the stone roads/pyramids. Oh, and the game even has a mini-game of wack-a-mole in it! Drop boulders on the heads of these groundhog/mole/rat things! YEAH!

My only beef with the game... it ended. I wanted more. I wanted a sandbox area to just fool around in with the physics engine and slicing/pull/grav guns. But oh well, it was cheap, and they have sequels coming!

Tiny & Big in GrandPa's Leftovers
 –

Typical...

Nothing great going on here. This title is average and unremarkable in absolutely every way.

And it is a puzzle game more than anything. The object seems to be moving blocks around a seriously uninspired landscape to - and you'll love this (not) - get to a pair of pants. If there is any more to this game, I got bored and quit before I got to it. This game is $9.99 (my good luck to have "found" it on sale. What would be better than paying $9.99 for this game? Anything, anything at all.

Psychonauts (old publish)
 –

An unrecognised masterpiece.

Immersive, vast, imaginative, different, hilarious and beautiful to behold this game simple has very little not to like.
From some of the most fertile minds of game creation of our time (mainly but not exclusively Tim Schafer, from Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, et al glories) comes this magnificently original tour of the mind.
A little boy on a summer camp for psychic kids needs to poke around memories, mind malfunctions and other mild mental maladies of many mischievous mindscapes belonging to some very disturbed people, and thus save the world.
Apparently Tim Schafer created Psychonauts from a rejected segment on Full Throttle that was rejected by Lucas Arts for being too controversial when the main character of that game goes into a hallucinogenic state. Double Fine comes to the rescue of such an intriguing premise and from that kernel of an idea delivers one insanely interesting experience.
The controls are simple, the abilities fun, the worlds you explore extremely interesting and different and the main character as likeable as they come.
The learning curve is a bit strange when it gets somewhat sharp suddenly during the final stages of the otherwise well balanced and well paced game. And the only thing that could be called a "minus" is one of the unforgiving final sequences that has to be passed in one go, where your worst enemies become the camera and its unholy combination with the controls. You will know when you get there.
Otherwise this game is pretty much perfect and filled to the rim with "am I really doing this?" awesome moments.
If you don't like it you must have some serious mental infirmities (that should be cured by a little psychonaut inside your head).
Six Stars for this game.

Jewel Quest III
 –

Impossible to win

The first few levels are enjoyable but once you get to the gold level there is NO HOPE of ever winning. You can play the same board and unless you have pure luck on your side you will still be two jewels short of winning the board. There are no gold coins to help you get through it. The play becomes monotonous and frustrating. I don't know of a single person you was able to get through this game. Not worth the money.

Jewel Quest The Sapphire Dragon Collector's Edition

Well rounded game for all levels

Love how it has three levels of game play relaxed, normal and advanced. Also has 5 characters, each with a special ability, such as swap jewels. These ability will give you the edge you need to get through those really hard boards. Best of all, you can win this game!! I played the game through normal and advanced levels. Took a few months which makes the game totally worth the price.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Annihilation & Escalation Content Pack

Just great

5 out of 5

A little pricey considering what you get, the levels are awesome no reason to not buy it. I would say its more worth 7-8 dollars, but thats just me.

Call of Duty: Black Ops
 –

GREAT overall

Gun sounds-9/10
gun looks -9/10
explosions 8/10
weapons 8/10
story line 8/10
voice acting 5/10 -SO stupid, like a kids game at times, often annoying, the swearing is put in to add intensity but just makes it silly.

Graphics- 8/10
Enemy intelligence 7/10
realism-7/10 often stupid, waves of guys charge a machine gun etc. sort of, wouldnt they take cover if i had a gatling gun mowing them down

online-7/10-not enough people on, only can play with mac players, often only 50 people on world wide.
zombies 5/10-almost nobody ever plays. Often wait 10 minutes to get a online zombie game going.

VERY GOOD GAME OVERALL, but they rape you online by only letting you play with mac players and the in game childish "SHOOT EM UP" unrealistic crap is annoying, its a game based on realism and military tactics, black ops to be specific, lets keep it realistic. overall 8/10

Ancient Rome 2
 –

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum...

This is a pretty basic city builder game in which logic plays little part. You build up houses from mud huts to luxury villas by building facilities in the city and farms, workshops and mines in the country. It's repetitive in the extreme, and by the end I was building to a formula and there was little in the way of challenge other than the time it took to complete a level.

On the other hand, it's easy to learn, easy to play and mostly fun. It needs more variety in the kind, cost and shape of the things you can build, as cities look very grid like very easily. For the money, it's good but not great.

Iron Sky: Invasion
 –

Exactly what I expected-space combat!

This game kinda reminds me of the old Wing Commander series (I'm dating myself here), but without the downtime in the hangar or socializing with the crew. There are human interactions through cut scenes to introduce new parts of the plot or missions, but the primary part of the game is zipping through a massive area around Earth and the moon, shooting down small and (VERY) large craft.

Much of the acting is down right awful, but luckily, the game play holds up. Controlling with a mouse isn't easy and takes getting used to, but there aren't too many controls to memorize on the keyboard. I like being able to re-route power to damaged parts of the ship. The game auto-saves without you knowing, but it seems to be fairly smart and when you die, you don't have to go too far back.

I'm plaing this full-screen on an i7 iMac 2.93 GHz with 8GB ram and 1GB video card (that last bit is important). Don't even try playing this on something slower. It definitely needs the video RAM and horsepower, as there are often many moving objects on the screen.

Overall, very heart-pounding game, mostly non-stopping action. I actually wish there was a little down time without the constant threat of something...but the game delivers on what it sells!

Don't Buy

Sucked!! Kept crashing on me, don't buy!! I got about one third of the way around the world and then it kept failing. The puzzles were okay but not worth the money, even when this game is on sale. Look for other jig saw puzzles to spend your money on.
