It's an enjoyable strategy game, but good lord it barely functions on my powerful Mac. The story, the characters, the setting is enjoyably dark but it's hard to reccomend in its current state when although the system requirements are met by my rig it still chugs to an unplayable halt. If it functioned it would be a fun game, but as stands it's just too shaky to reccomend.
I loved the atmosphere of the original The Darkness and this one largely dispenses with the realism and grit for a cell-shaded almost cartoony look, likewise changing out some of the more brutal combat animations. But it's still an exciting and psychological thrillride with a lot of variety in foes and how to dispense of them. I especially liked that the level structure is very unpredictable. One minute you're battling mobsters in the city, the next you're hobnobbing with your own crime family in a luxury manor. The collectables in this game are great too: each coming with an excellent story read to you by the breathless, panicky narrator. Reccomended for fans of shooters, gothic stories, and gangster lore.
An in-depth, "make your own fun", space science game. There is a very deep, rewarding game here if you have the patience to blunder through the early stages of figuring out the many systems at work. Huge in-game tutorial and reference text can get you going, but would seem like any long term play will come from curiosity and a desire to tinker.
If you're looking for a pure, somewhat complicated tactics game, then I'd say you've found your gem. For me personally, I found the game to have far too many little nooks and cranies, making the game more of a mathematical chore than a fun experience. Once again, if you want a PURE TACTICS, MANAGEMENT, AND CALCULATIVE GAME, this is for you. If not, keep looking.
This game looked alright at first, but AWFUL voice acting paired with glitchy visuals, off-mood music, and a boring, forced story, I cannot recomment it to anyone in good concious.
Honestly this game has it's issues in places but otherwise the theme, the ecconomic and action gameplay, the amount of content and options makes up for these in spades. I love gangster lore and this is a lot like a street-level version of the excellent Mafia game series mixed with Tropico. Problemwise the major issues stem from a slightly wonky combat interface but with so much to do I don't mind a few strange AI quirks of an iffy camera. Runs smooth, sounds great and if you're someone like me it's great fun!
This is like playing the world's greatest Star Wars graphic novel or film! The level of characterization, the faithfulness to the expanded universe, the humor, the drama, the action...it's all here! I sound like I'm overhyping and there ARE a few issues with lengthy backtracking in places and some annoying minigames (the race track was underwhelming to me), but none of it diminished the entertainment of slicing enemies with a sword or a lightsaber and having your decisons lead to new and varied results with lives literally in the balance.
The only reason it isn't rated higher is it's aggressively linear, but the story and characters are enormously entertaining and there's a LOT of plot to work through here as well as new enemies to fight and allies to befriend. Play through it once and you'll get the total experience but that's not bad if the experience is fun and intriguing the first go through. If you like classic RPGs, especially JRPGs and don't mind turn based combat this is a fine addiiton to your library.
It's a very cute and contained game which I can hardly complain about since I got it free but it is pretty much what you see is what you get here. Cute characters, simple gameplay, some variation between levels, an elegant and stylish time killer type game.
I've played Max Payne since the first game and even played the Gameboy version, and this is still my least favorite of the series. It might be different if I played multiplayer perhaps but to me the combat felt sloppier and more of a frantic series of running from bullets pouring in from all directions as opposed to ballettic dueling like the original games. Also Max is entirely unlikable here, swearing more often, drunk and whiny and surrounded by unpleasant people. Graphics are nice and it might be fun for awhile but I found the new setting kind of boring, the story dull, and the writing grating. Not happy with this Max.
Assassin's Creed 2 was a very poor port. There were many odd lags in gameplay. I would reach an objective, and then have to wait for the game to realize I was there, and load the next part of the story.
This caused confusion and a failed mission on one occasion, because I beat up a guy—which was the objective—before the game specifically told me to.
There is no controller support. And even other options like joystick mapper don't work, because the game doesn't recognize the input. The on-screen prompts are horrible, because instead of telling you to press a certain key or mouse button, they indicate a colored circle that you are supposed to have figured out which key is mapped to it.
Add to this Ubisoft's requirement of a constant internet connection to play (and their buggy server that didn't recognize my internet connection for weeks), and you have an allround crappy port of what seemed like an otherwise interesting game.
Ubisoft needs to outsource their porting to companies that can do it right, like Feral or Aspyr.
Football Manager 2016 is one of the video games which seems these months to be still constantly among the top10 most played Steam games (according to Steam stats). Not counting the free-to-play games it even seems to constantly sit among the top5 most played games on Steam. Of course, popularity isn't necessarily an indication for enjoyability, and for many it is probably not interesting at all to manage a soccer team (with rosters of RL teams in previous season) and to watch them perform on the pitch moreorless according to preparation and instructions given. But for those interested in what the game title says in UK English, it has plenty of that.
And worth a note seems that being in Germany I was without any problem able to redeem the here purchased version, for which the Steam store page is blocked in Germany for whichever reason... probably to do with some licensing or so.
Game Corp DX is a video game about running a company making video games. I enjoyed a playthrough of it, which lasted a few hours, but there isn't really anything to come back to afterwards in terms of that once office is as large as it gets and staff has been trained and is experienced it becomes a repetition of clicks to chunk out AAA games with nothing different about it all if one starts a new playthrough. Besides that, good game.
Blueprint Tycoon is a video game about managing supply-production chains, with tiers of workforce having requirements, as well production of goods for export from which wages are paid, setting up routes (such as own decision if one wants harvester to supply to crafter directly and/or through storage), research, buildings and routes being possible to upgrade, and as well being able to modify the "blueprints", meaning the actual production line within the building.
I enjoyed playing the six scenarios which come with the game, and it also has a classical open-end sandbox mode. But what I think makes the game really great is the in-game scenario editor, which lets not only set up just mission requirements but actually lets change most of it all. So e.g. while the standard template says: "well, tier 1 workers require vegetables, which need to be grown on arable land from which they are taken to market and from there distributed to tier 1 worker housings", if one would actually want them to have e.g. coffee with that as well or perhaps just instead, the scenario editor lets set up coffee as resource, perhaps even add a production building before it gets to the market (if one wants to) and from there it gets distributed, while being able to import own pics for resources/products. Similarly about any production chain. Want to set up e.g. a template/scenario for detailed (heavy) industry production chains or perhaps furniture production chains or ...? Quite easy to do with the scenario-editor without any need whatsoever for classical modding, and all that easily uploadable to workshop to be shared. Of course, one needs to keep in mind game mechanics for it all to be playable, but I find the scenario editor a great tool for creative approach about setting it up as one wants to in terms of what actually gets produced.
Visually it is alright, but in my opinion due to not plenty of visual distinction lacks an option to be able to highlight types of buildings since when there are plenty thereof and one can't be bothered to remember exactly where was what put, one needs to look for little icons, zoom in a lot or click on buildings individually. Also, being able to close a window by right clicking on it would be very nice since as far as I noticed none of the windows actually have the right-click as any functionality so playing with mouse it would be nice to not have always go for that X to close it. Besides that tho, great game.
