Torchlight
 –

AAA Quality From a Small Game

The game is most definitely high quality. They've made an engine that is both light, fast and capable to do some big budget action for a fraction of the price. Each class is able to go different paths, which means you will have to make quite a few characters. My advice is to find out how to activate the cheat mode and play with different settings so you can make a character that will progress normally. I found it hard to decide which hot keys go in which slots for each character, but the melee player is definitely the easiest to play.

Elements that make it fun are the pet junk selling, the useful town vendors (you can buy rare or uniques!), and the gratuitous amount of replay in the difficulty modes. The pet can serve as a defensive arsenal or healer later in the game if you equip them with the correct spells, but they only get 2 at any time. Town vendors are way better than other games. They can sometimes sell things that normally would only be available on boss drops, so save up your money for the times when you want to buy a nice epic weapon. Easy mode is pretty brainless and repetitive, but if you're going through the story you will find it's the obvious fast choice. Lastly, this is a great warmup game for Torchlight 2.

Torchlight 2 is coming out this year for PC, and I hope later this year it shows up here, too. It's going to have multiplayer that this one lacked, as well as a much larger and diverse playing area. So pick this one up and help them get it to the Mac ASAP!

Family Farm
 –

If you like farm games and a little strategy give this game a try ...

Howdy,

This is a simulation game that allows users to control the members of a family farm. The object of the game is to progress through the game's various stories all while making sure to complete the story requirements for each level. The story requirements tend to follow those you would expect to find on the farm including: planting fields, tending fields, tending livestock and bringing in the harvest. Users also get to hire workers, and do repairs on the house, and general landscaping to improve moral.

Graphics: 8/10 - For a simulation game; which typically 2D - 2.5D, this 3D simulation has graphics that are well done and smooth.

Sound FX/Music: 8/10 - The sound effects are well done and create a great farm-like ambiance.

Gameplay: 8/10 - Control your farm's cash flow by properly managing the time and efforts of each member of your the family farm. Don't forget to make sure everyone is fed before noon...productivity tends to hurt when people don't eat. Go figure!

Nice to have: It would be nice to have the ability for fast forward to various locations of the game. When playing the game on a separate computer the user is required to start from scratch. Not a big deal really.

Overall, I think most people will enjoy this game.

Awakening the Moonfell Wood

Couldn't get through it

Did everything but poke myself in the eye with the branch and Nada, could not progress. I'm sure it's stoopid me, but when you use a "hint" it should work.

Assassin's Creed 2 Deluxe Edition

My Review

1: You can change your dang control scheme! Really you can, I promise.

2: It's obvious none of you are using a mouse with your laptops, or maybe you're just using Apple's awful mouse they include. Anyway, buy a two button mouse off apple's website.

3: Yeah, it lags, DRM sucks, so make sure you have a decent rig, and upload speed of 128 kb/s +

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
 –

Two extreme thumbs up!!

The first computer games to capture my imagination were Adventure genre. LucasArts - Secret of Monkey Island, Indiana Jones TLC, and FOA. Sierra's Space Quest, King's Quest, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Gabriel Knight. It's so refreshing and exciting to think they could be revamped for the times and return for the fans and new generations alike..

This was done really well and includes voice, Im all over LeChucks Revenge.

Bring back adventure gaming!!! *****

Women's Murder Club: Death In Scarlet
 –

Just going through the motions

I've had this game for quite some time, and I enjoy the play. Graphics are wonderful. The scenes are excellent quality and the puzzles very enjoyable to solve. I felt more like a secretary or side-kick, running all the evidence, but not really helping to solve the crime. My main problem with it is I didn't feel like I was part of the crime-solving team. The ending came so abruptly and while I was still trying to figure out who it was, the game was over. I wanted to be able to apprehend the quilty party, but he stole that right out from under us. Dissappointing, but still great fun.

Hector: Badge of Carnage Full Series
 –

this game looks promising ...

... but unfortunately it doesn't run on a PowerMac G5 (since there is no "Intel required" icon, this should be mentioned in the game details). And on my MacBook Pro Core2Duo with OSX 10.5.8 the game crashes during startup. So far it is not playable for me.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
 –

it is awsome

It was okay but i think they could have done better because it was more realistic in cod 2 than in cod 4 so i think they should have made cod 4 better and harder but it did have nice guns.

Enjoyed the game, works well on my macMini with the default settings. Feels a bit short tho. Finished the game over the weekend but otherwise very well done.

Thank you for these 2 very good comments i liked the game very much also it was insane but i do agree they were a little short on the whole comparing cod 2 and cod 4 thing!

Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull Collector's Edition
 –

Fun

I wasn't sure if I was going to like the live action along with the traditional game but I actually did. This was a great addition to the MCF family. Only problem was I paid for the Collector's Edition with the hopes of all the extras and then it seemed the collection of special skulls wasn't included. Maybe it will show up in the next game. But that was kind of a bummer.

Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials Collector's Edition
 –

Super

Complicated and complex. Very interesting how the true story of the witch trials and the Hawthorne history were pulled together clue by clue. I thought there was a great blend of HO and puzzles. Good game that takes a bit to finish.

Mystery Legends: Sleepy Hollow
 –

Fab

I hesitated on buying this one because some reviews said it was too difficult, with esoteric items and hard to see. I do agree it's a little dark but I really enjoyed the fact that the items you were looking for were appropriate to the time period of the story. The clues help with the things I never heard of and don't penalize your time. I would have liked more puzzles within each chapter. But I perversely LOVED the voodoo doll that screams when you stick it with pins. I thought the whole game macabre fun. Well done and well worth it. Not great replay value but I'll let it sit for a bit and when I go back it will all seem new.

Drawn: Dark Flight Collector's Edition
 –

Disappointing

I waited a long time for this sequel but I found it oddly anticlimactic. It was fun but some of the best parts of the first one, like the worlds within paintings, were missing or abbreviated. I found this one not as interesting. And there were some areas that were downright too hard and therefore I had to get assistance with the walkthrough. 3 stars I guess.

Awesome game

Loved the demo! Gorgeous graphics with pleasant music, which I normally turn off, but NOT this time. Thought it was quite challenging too. Loads of fun to play.

Back to the Future: The Game

Tropical Farm
 –

Simplistic

It's not bad, it runs decently. It's very simple to play and frankly, I was bored before the demo was finished. Probably great for a pre-teen, so if you are in the market for a game for your child, this could be a good one.

The Stroke of Midnight Collector's Edition
 –

Stroke of Midnight CE

My husband and I really enjoyed this game - the graphics were terrific, the sounds and effects convincing, the puzzles often quite challenging. We just had to finish it in one sitting - 6 hours of game! Our only problem was that sometimes we picked up an object prematurely and could not drop it to gather necessary information. As for hints - follow the flashes, the stars and click on the mirrors.

Game keeps stalling

After rebooting thr game three times from scratch the bloody thing keeps freezing up in some part of the journey and then you cannot go forward. Not worth it's salt if you can never complete the process.

Rome: Total War™ - Gold Edition
 –

RTW

This is my favorite game ever!

Rome Total War is two great games in one. You have a strategic map including Europe, North Africa and the Middle East where you manage your empire of choice (Rome, Carthage, Egypt, etc.) You also chose what units to train (and upkeep) and combine them to form your armies.

You decide when and where to use your armies: what points to defend, or what places to attack. When armies collide, the computer generates a 3D battlefied where you pit the armies you recruited and trained against the opponents'.

Years ago I purchased the PC original and used bootcamp to play it. More recently I purchased the mac version... and also purchased extra copies of the Mac version to give to my two brothers and a nephew.

This game was created by the Creative Assembly (CA). CA has created a whole series of Total War games for PC's. Only Rome is available for Mac. I hope feral interactive will soon publish some of the newer CA / Total War titles. I will buy them as soon as they become available for Mac.
