1954 Alcatraz
 –

1954 Alcatraz review.

A point and click that lets you jump between the two main characters are they work together to spring one from alcatraz. Story and characters are interesting enough, but I wish it went more into the backgrounds of each character. The choices are fun to make and you can play through the game with having a different outcome. Choices you make affect the marriage of the characters you play as and effect the dialogue options

3d vision works well enough with the game, but can be a little weird in some scenes.

Cognition Game of the Year Edition
 –

Good game

Steep learning curve on episode 1, fighting with the interface to work out ways to advance the adventure.
Probably most people will give up somewhere along this lengthy episode which is a shame because Episode 2 and 3 are real gems, better than vast majority of adventure games.

Deponia

The whole journey

I don't usually play point & click games, but this one is actually pretty good, probably the best one I've played.
Story is nice and there are some good funny jokes, also you may not like the protagonist (I didn't at first) but he may grow on you. If you are interested you should try the Deponia demo so you can get a taste of what's to come, and if you enjoy it you may consider getting The Complete Journey, the 3 games for the price of 2!

PS: A lot of people don't like the ending so take that in mind.

The Night of the Rabbit
 –

The Night of The Rabbit

This is a great game. The plot is interesting and the art style is so cool. It can get a little tedious at times, like when you can't figure out what to do, but that's what walkthoughs are for. It does not have much in the way of replay-ability, but that's not what point and click games are for. The game is very well done and dosn't have many characters that leave you wondering why they put them in the game. If you haven't played this game you should. It's well worth the price.

RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition

RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition is a complete overhaul of the original Myst game from 1993, porting it to a modern 3D engine that allows for free-exploration as opposed to clicking on still, 2D images. It's actually done suprisingly well and stays true to the original through-out, even including the original scenes that had used real actors. I did find the performance a little choppy in some sections but never to a point where the game was unplayable. The new graphics engine brings a new life to Myst, while my elitist self prefers the original, this looks absolutely amazing and they pretty much nailed the aesthetics of the original re-imagined in 3D.

Among the Sleep

Among the sleep

One of my favorite games. You constantly feel like something will pop out at you at any moment. The 'big reveal' at the end was not hard to see coming, it's pretty obvious what the real story is but that doesnt take anything away from how good this game is. Wish it was longer.

Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes
 –

Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes

Harvey's New Eyes is easily the best Daedalic title I've played. Yes, it suffers from the usual problem of there occasionally being times when it's not at all clear what you're supposed to do to proceed, but who plays point-and-clicks for the gameplay? The narration is top-notch, and the dark humor and juxtaposition of a macabre story with an inanely cartoonish presentation are sublime.

1954 Alcatraz

1954 Alcatraz

Alcatraz is a traditional take on the point & click adventure. It's main mechanic is the acquisition of items and information, found by clicking around on the scenery of each screen, and their combination with either other itens or charcters in order to forward the narrative.

Conquest of Elysium 3
 –

Unique fantasy strategy game

At its heart this is more a war game, not a 4x empire builder. There is a lot of depth to the various nations you get to choose from to play. Combat is simplified but works with the game structure, you don't control your armies directly in battle and strategy is ultimately ased on how you build your army. Your goal is to build the ultimate army stack of soldiers and heroes and eliminate the enemy.

There is a high replay value with the differnet races. the AI isn't terrible. In more than one game I thought I was doing well only to run into multiple stacks of enemy armies that eventually wore me out.

Highly recommended for those who like turn-based strategy in a fantasy setting. But don't go in if you are looking for Heroes of Might and Magic. Other than being a turn based strategy game in a fantasy setting, the mechanics are very different

Torchlight II
 –

A Dungeon Crawling Classic

Torchlight II embraces the concepts of its predecessor with aplomb, namely freedom and loot-galore, casting the player into a world dominated by a plot that drives the gameplay forward without genuinely dictating the player's choice. Optional objectives litter every new map and players are free to engage in battle against mini-bosses, on separate challenge stages or simply grind by resetting maps until their interest wanes, experience ceases to accumulate or the items become too low-level. I would heartily recommend Torchlight II to anyone who is interested in a cooperative or singleplayer-oriented dungeon crawling experience, as seen in the genre defining Diablo series, albeit the mechanics become somewhat burdensome around the level cap.

+ Multiple, distinct classes with unique skill-sets
+ Various pets and a pet-system that eliminates needless vendor-trips
+ Player-defined attribute and skill selection
+ Enormous variety of weaponry and armor, each with a distinct appearance
+ Includes set, legendary and various "unique" items
+ Combat is visceral, without focusing on gore
+ Appropriate content for all ages
+ A wealth of lore that ties back succinctly into the original Torchlight
+ Online multiplayer can be played with the same character as your singleplayer world
+ Level 100 cap, with optional content that expands the challenge beyond such
+ Player-made content abounds, including hundreds of "mods" on Steam

- Classes and skill-selections become somewhat formulaic at high-levels
- Maps can become tedious, as enemy variety is lackluster
- Running high-level maps solo is tiresome and often unrewarding
- Singleplayer content does not reward players to the same degree as multiplayer

CONCLUSION: Recommended to fans of the genre and newcomers alike, Torchlight II is well worth the moderate price-tag it boasts. Consider playing with friends to garner the most enjoyment and remember that "fun" is at the core of this title.
