The Sims 3

Love it but hate the updates

I love it but I hate that I can't choose what updates I want to patch to the game. For example, I've played with version 1.5 and it was great but then came a new update and Now I can't play the game. I uninstalled and install again and I cannot play because everything I've download (the worlds and others) are with the version 1.5 and I can't play with 1.26 nor 1.55 because both I can't play. Also, for 1.55 they seems to remove customer worlds and that's a big No! No! So I love the game but the updates screws up the game for Good Modders who make HQ mods; Waaaay better than the one from EA (EA SUCKS WHEN IT COMES TO BEST GRAPHICS FOR SIMS 3!!).

Back to the Future: The Game
 –

Enjoyed playing this game!

As a Back to the Future fan, I could not resist trying this game out. I truly enjoyed traveling through space and time with Marty and Doc. The game plot was excellent. My 7 year old grandson looks forward to us sitting down together every night helping Doc and Marty solve their problems.

I only wish there were more installments to come!

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut
 –

I don't know what to think...

I would like to get into this game. It's huge (14.57GB), and would keep me busy for quite a while.

But the performance on my Macbook Air 3,2 (OS X 10.6.8) is very poor - even when all rendering option are set to their lowest.

It is basically on of those click-here-to-move games that I don't particularly like to begin with.

My Macbook Air heats up very fast, and I don't think it was meant to handle something like this.

If your computer can handle this with no trouble then I do think it would be worth your while.

My best bet may be to just delete this, and get something a little less draining on system resourses.

Kairo
 –

An experience

Kairo is one of those curious little indie games you come across every so often that leaves you in a state of quiet yet satisfied contemplation. It has the elements of a traditional adventure-puzzle game, yet there is something thoroughly metaphysical about its world and the experiences you have in it. The game plays through 1st person view, so you never know exactly who or what you are in the world around you. You set to exploring a series of strange buildings, all of which have a variety of puzzles and secrets to find and solve. Some of the puzzles are genuinely tricky, and it took me at least 3 or 4 play throughs to find all the secrets.

You find yourself eerily alone in this world, questioning what the strange buildings and machines you encounter are, and who built them. I was constantly changing my idea of who I was and what I was doing as I journeyed through Kairo. At first I felt like a lone explorer searching through the ruins of an extinct civilization, then I thought I might be the sole survivor of some kind of catastrophe, and it even crossed my mind that I might be dead-a spirit of some kind trying to seek redemption for my actions in life or for those of my people. This was one of the joys of Kairo for me-you might not be entirely sure what your journey is for, but you feel compelled to continue on with it regardless.

I have to give special mention to the sound and music, which is just beautiful. The music, or often lack of it, perfectly complements the environments you explore and has such an impact on your mood and that of the game. If I have any issues with the game it's probably restricted to the controls, which can be a bit clumsy at times.

At the end of my first play through I found myself close to crying, but not entirely sure why, and on subsequent plays I was moved to tears. It's a strangely affecting experience and by then end of it you feel as though you've succeeded in what it was you set out to accomplish in the first place. But it's not the kind of feeling you get with other games when you take out the final boss, become a hero, get all the loot etc. Kairo feels like something entirely more fundamental than that, it speaks to something basic about our humanity that even after half a dozen play throughs is still difficult to put into words.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
 –

Oh, the memories

What a delight to be able to revisit one of the most memorable games from my childhood. The reboot of this game has been just as great to play as the original was back in the day. I love the ability to be able to easily switch between the old and new graphics, but I did spend most of my time playing with the the new style. The voiceover makes the game and its wacky humour even more enjoyable and engaging.
I have to admit that I didn't find the puzzles as hard as I remembered them, and the hint system can take the satisfaction out of figuring them out yourself. You can just keep hitting the 'h' button for hints until you're told exactly what to do. There's no incentive to only use hints when you really need them, so temptation to just just keep hitting that button does win out sometimes. The only other gripe I have with the game, as I recall having back when I played the original, is that it can be tediously slow at times, especially when moving between places on the map. There's a fair amount of back and forth involved so it would've been nice if the travel speed was increased, particualrly between places you've already visited. Dialougue can also be a bit slow at times, although you can skip right to the end of some of the conversations.
I got through the game in just over 4 hours so it's not that long, but anyone who played the original will definitely get a kick out of visiting Monkey Island again. I'm not sure new players would get quite as much enjoyment, but I'd still recommend it to them.

LEGO Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Video Game
 –

My Favorite Lego Game so far!

So far Lego Pirates is my fave of the series. Captain Jack is even better in lego form. Gameplay is awesome but I have noticed after long periods of play the game randomly crashes to desktop and sometimes scenes will hiccup. Other than that I love this game! Like the other games in the series gameplay is challenging but not impossible. Loads of fun!

LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues
 –

Most Challenging

I think this one is the most challenging of the series. I find it more difficult than the lego Star Wars or Pirates games. Game runs a little slow at times and have had it crash once when playing all day. Definitely a challenge, but loads of fun. :) Lego Indy is quite funny. this would be my second fave in the series. Happy gaming!!

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes
 –

Great Game!!

Lego gaming at it's best! Something new added is the characters actually talk. The rivalry between Batman and Superman is quite funny. The game loads a little slow and some places seem to run "too" fast, but not enough to make gameplay impossible. So far the game appears quite long. Challenging, but not impossible.

Issues resolved...

I use a Macbook Air 3, 2 OS X 10.6.8

This title did not initially work when I first installed it, but after I re-installed the fixed version, I had little more trouble with it.

I have this game for my Original Xbox, and this version that I installed on my Macbook Air is better. The first thing I noticed was that there are more options in creating your protagonist; two more species are available here, with many more variations of each species' characteristics.

I cannot say why this version is better looking than the Xbox version because I do not know what rendering options are used for the Original Xbox. All I know is that I can set all the rendering option of this version all the way up, and it looks better with no performance issues.

The cheat codes for this title are the same as in the PC version, for those wanting to know. But if you use the All Force codes, you will get stuck between levels because you cannot select Force powers that are already maxed out; if you cannot upgrade Force powers, you cannot move to Weapon Select and begin the next level.

I had trouble with my USB Xbox 360 controller. It uses independent drivers, and that may be why it doesn't work. I otherwise cannot say how well any other controller might work.

Back to the Future: The Game
 –

Very well done...

I see there are some issues with controls that some had. I used an app that binded key commands to a USB Xbox 360 controller, and had no trouble at all.

Of the other Telltale games (such as Monkey Island, Jurassic Park, Hector, Puzzle Agent, etc.) This title is among the most likable, with so much going for it.

The voice acting here is surprisingly good; the voices sound just like the actors in the Back to the Future movies (I checked the credits - they are not the original, but are very good impersonators).

The episodes are not very long, though the same can be said about all the other above-mentioned Telltale titles. But given that all five episodes are here, these is little cause to complain about length.

Mystery Case Files: Shadow Lake

Annoying cut scenes

The game might have been interesting but there are annoying overacted sequences with the "psychic" that are long & you can't skip. And she's a major character in the game. Plus the game freezed up on me three times at the same scene. halfway through the demo & i'm dumping it. Don't bother

The Walking Dead
 –

It's not the whole game!

I didn't realize that I was only purchasing a small segment of the game. I don't feel like that was not made clear and I'm pretty angry about it. It was about the length of a game demo. I played on a 2013 MBA 13" with the settings maxed out and it played great EXCEPT during a portion of the game it would freeze for about 10 seconds everytime I moved somewhere. Over all I feel ripped off.

Too Easy

The story was.. decent, but forgettable. Graphics/gameplay was ok. But overall, the game was way too easy. Super straightforward. No challenge whatsoever. Can be beat in only a few hours.

Great Game, but Warning

Turn based combat stratedgy may sound boring, but this game makes it work. Be warned this game is very deep and even more addicting.
