Ok ... I'm a HOI4 fan and enjoy modding but this DLC is a great boost to the lineup. As the description says, the game boosts and tweaks the Asian theater. However, I found that it is also great at striking out on alternative history with the Axis. Highly recommended!
This DLC is a nice addition with some decent features added into the game. That said, it is not a necessary addon for how I typically like to play. Taking that bias out of it, I rated it with 4-stars
This DLC is a nice addition with some decent features added into the game. I found that it added some to my overall experience with the game but I'd like to see more. That said, it was a necessary and welcome addon to my CKII DLCs.
This was a re-buy of this game from way back. It still is enjoyable to play and offers a flashback to the "old way" of doing things ... and that's not a bad thing!
This game adds unnecessary complexity where you don't want it. I love the type of game and I don't find this one as enjoyable as others. It looked as if this game was going to be a more complex version of Railroad Tycoon and other clasics games. It is however loaded with more in the weeds requirements than I prefer. I spent way too much time trying to figure out the very basics and didn't feel satisfied afterward. If you like a very detailed game, this one will suit you well.
Ok, I'm a huge fan of the HOI games and Paradox games in general. This is step in a different direct in gameplay and look. It is more emersive than HOI 3 and places more emphasis on some aspects of strategy not explored in the previous games.
Some critics have said the game was actually "dumbed down" but I find it to actually be more challenging with the newer system of play.
If you've never played these games before, take a look at their Wiki before you dive in. It can be daunting if you haven't seen them before.
My teenager loves this version of the Civ series. He likes the new environment and different gameplay from the other Civ games. I, on the other hand, didn't find it as fun as I'd hoped. It required more energy to figure out the differences in the games ... (I know that's my fault, but if you're used to the way Civ normally plays it may drive you nuts, too).
The idea is fine, I just find something missing ...
Great game! My 12-year-old loves the concept and the gameplay. It is different from other games of this type in its storyline and play ... he likes that. Worth picking up!
Alright, let's put it on the table. The HOI games are some of the best and most complex strategic war games. Normally, the DLCs are a fantastic edition and make them even better. With this new add on, I have to say I'm underwhelmed. It is mostly things that are in the "fixes" category that should have been in the original game. Much of the new content is covewred by free mods on Steam. That said, it still adds to the game. The price should be lower for what it does, however.
I played Myst when it first came up a million years ago and enjoyed the challenges of the puzzles and wanted to find my way through the storyline. With this version, the graphics are 1000X better and makes the emersion even that much better. If you want something classic or want to revisit a classic, this is great.
Got this to pass one of my favorite games along to my son. Always loved this HOI version and thought it would be the perfect one to introduce him to the complexity of a true strategy game.
Yes, that's right. This game lets you be the third-world dictator you always wanted to be ... and more. This is my youngest son's favorite game and I have found it to be enjoyable, too. I'm a fan of Tropico from the original so I already had a positive attitude about it. My son just reinforces that.
This is a nice add on to the CKII games. Is it necessary? No, but then most DLCs aren't. I found this one to be worth the money just for a change in gameplay. Nothing ever goes the same way anyway, but adding in a different twist makes it even more challenging.
This little game packs a lot of fun and is entertaining to play. I've played it on the desktop and on the iPhone and either way it is challenging to move and maneuver to keep yourself alive during the missions. The only complaint is that it can become tedious at some points, especially late game.
This is a great flashback to an era of gaming when I was a kid ... and graphics were improving and getting more exciting all of the time. This is like playing the old-style games I loved. Unfortunately, the controls are clumsy making it dificult to maneuver. My 13-year-old was excited with the topic but was also frustrated with the controls.
