Fist of Jesus

Ugh!

Ok, take away the lightning bolts that will strike you for playing this. Overall, it's really not that much fun. The controls are very simple and the action is very simple, too. Gave it two stars for the effort to create something different ...

Sid Meier's Pirates!
 –

Still a classic ...

This is a great game that was updated for a new generation of gamers. It is fun and unlike so many of the other games that places too much on graphics. The graphics a simple; the game is fun; and the gameplay is simple. I've played this game sine the original "Pirates!" back in the day and can say it is still fun.

The most unique part of this game is the total lack of linear gameplay. You really get to chose your path and get rewarded (or punished) for it.

There are some weird bugs that have caused my MacPro to crash — HARD. It has happeded sever times on this game and it has NEVER happeded with any other program.

Kerbal Space Program

Perfect for Science-minded Son!!!

This game is complex an science driven - and that's a good thing! My 12-year-old Very science-minded son is enjoying he game and learning from it. The game's real-life physics are one of the things he really likes. The game requires critical thinking ... another thing he loves. Overall, great game.

Battlestations: Midway
 –

Fun but not Fantastic

This is a nice game and can be fun to play. Unfortunately, it isn't one to come back to time and time again. Once I learned how to play it, the complexity was well balanced with game play. After playing it for a few hours, I became slightly board and frustrated at other times. This game may be great for some, it just wasn't for me.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Double Civilization and Scenario Pack - Spain and Inca
 –

Great addition!

This add on is a great addition to the CIV V series. Adding these two cultures makes some unique changes into the game that make game play even more replayable than it was before (a hard thing to do in a VERY replayable base game!).

Crusader Kings II Collection
 –

Great Game!

Ok. I love the Paradox games but I never played the CK games. This collection is a great start to playing the series. The game itself is complex and intuitive. Learning to master the various skills to be successful in this game is not easy but it is unpredictable in good ways.

The only note is that this collection is not complete. There are a few expansions that will need to be added to bring it up to the most complete version with all of the new bells and whistles. Get them all when they are on sale.

Europa Universalis IV: El Dorado Collection
 –

Great add on!

As with all of the Paradox games, the addons are a must to get the most from changes they make to game play. This one is not different. It makes the game fun and changes the gameplay in a way to force your to relook how you've played previously.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
 –

Classic action!

This is a great game for those who love the Assassin's Creed line of games. My son is obsessed with this series and this Mac version was a great way for him to play off of the console.

Tropico 5
 –

Still a classic ...

I've played Tropico since the early days. This version is a great expansion upon the original theme and a fun game to play. Although I've played more in depth games, Tropico is in the middle between something simplistic and something overly complex. I like the balance and the challenges it poses. I've even gotten my 11-year-old into it ... and he is a great now an expert ruler of a Banana Republic!

Civil War: 1864
 –

Great, but ...

As with my reviews of other games of this series, this is a great game but I would like to see more depth. I rated it 4-starts without hesitation for what it is. I just found myself wanting more!

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Civilization and Scenario Pack - Polynesia
 –

Another great addition!

Every time that a new civ is added to the pantheon of other civs, it can't help but add more challenge and flovor to the game. This addition is no different. New civ; new warriors; new challenges. It is well worth adding it to your Civ V gameplay.

Civil War: 1862
 –

Fun game, but more would be nice

The Civil War series of games is fun to play and can be challenging but there is much to be said for more realistic and in-depth combat. I found the game fun to play and a throwback to the early strategy games I love(d). That's why it gets 4-stars. On the other hand, I would like to see more in the types of units and the types of weaponry. The Civil War was nothing if not complex and I would like to see the game be more reflective of that.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Civilization and Scenario Pack - Korea
 –

Nice edition! Love the added Civ

The addition of the capabilities of the Korean civ makes this a great addition. The Turtleship alone adds a great flair to this pack.

March of the Eagles
 –

Complex and challenging (but not too much)

As with other Paradox games, I'm enjoying the complexity and the challenges. It reminds me of a Napoleonic version of "Hearts of Iron II" with the obvious reduction in unit types and other challenges of 20th Century warfare. That said, it still has a great chopice for units and requires a level of skill to win!

Be warned, this game is not for someone who wants a casual game. It is complex and requires much attention to detail. Neglect your supply train and you won't be successful, for example.

At the same time, the game is not so complex as to make it impossible for a more casual gamer to enjoy. Just be ready for the challenges that come forth from the beginning until the end!
