I have a new 24" aluminum iMac. 2.8Ghz, 4 Gb RAM. I am on Leopard with all the latest updates - also the latest update from EA. Suffice it to say this game is extremely slow. Loading and changing screens is downright painfull. There is an annoying texture display problem that causes flashing, and triangles of terrain to be drawn incorrectly. I also have the Windows version of the exact same game and it plays and looks great on the very same machine. In other words, this is a terrible port of a very good Windows game. Too bad. If you want to buy this game, get the Windows version and run it under Boot Camp.
An excellent resource for maintaining brain fitness
Of the six games in this software suite we really enjoy Sudoku, Remembrance and Echo. My wife and I have been challenged for hours. We are getting better at each game over time. This "game suite" will definitely maintain the brain fitness of the older generation (of course younger people will enjoy them as games). PBS has been running a series on Brain Fitness showing the results of studies made by Posit Science Corporation on senior subjects and have proven that these types of games can improve brain function in older people. This game suite seems to have all the features of Posit Science's "tests" for considerably less money. The games are installed on our laptop (MacBook Pro 17") and I think we could get better scores on Remembrance and Echo with a mouse connected than with using its trackpad. Enjoy the games, you will feel energized after challenging yourself.
This game goes around and around and takes hours to play. The best parts are few and far between and then to make matters worse it can not be replayed.
The sounds could have been great - instead they repeated the same sound until it nearly drove me mad.
I agree with other reviewers. I got stuck on the morgue table minigame, the help is useless, and you only seem to get one skip option which I already used. If there was better help and it was easier to progress, I would buy the game in a minute. As it is, I see no point in banging my head against the wall.
This is a cool game. I have Little Shop of Treasures 1 & 2 which are also good. This version is the best yet! There are more levels, bonus rounds, rewards and other good stuff. I don't know who does all the graphics, but they get better each time. It's fun and frustrating at the same time!
It's just very easy. The mechanics and look are reasonably elegant, but it's pretty much the easiest game ever. One tactic is pretty much what you need, replay value is not so high, but it's an okay game, I suppose-somewhere in between action and real-time strategy.
This is the best in-depth strategy game I've ever played. It does require total immersion, though, which is the problem. Days will go by and I will hardly notice. I have to work hard to not let it take over my life and usually try to keep it off my computer entirely. For a hard-core strategy gamer, I can't imagine a better WWII game.
Without a doubt, I'm going blind for playing this game so much! It is one of the most challenging, fun games I have ever encountered. I dream of it at work until I can get home and play. I'm on level 81 and that's just the easy level.
If anything, try out the demo and you'll be hooked.
I have not played the first Chocolatier, so I have no basis of comparison to the first game. I like sim games and was disappointed with Nanny Mania as well as Alice Greenfingers. Both ended far too quickly, were too simple and repetitive or didn't have enough variety.
C2 has a story mode as well as free play. In order to fully open a free play game, the story mode must be completed. Could be considered negative if one wants to just "have it your way," but the story mode introduced the player to all the details of the game, i.e. ports, characters, factories, ingredients, types of chocolates, in an organized but entertaining way.
I enjoyed reading the story about the Baumgarten family's characters struggle in the chocolate industry as I played, but I was glad that it was not necessary to follow it in order to win or complete the story mode. It was a source of entertainment, but not germane to the game.
The shooting skill games to set up the factories were very similar but enough variety that I was not bored. Different kinds of skills games for different categories of chocolates might have been more interesting.
The tasting lab was great fun. Gathering ingredients from around the world and combining to make new chocolate exotics. Interesting results.
I felt like I had to play it in chunks of time. Plan out factory production, remember what ingredient and recipe was going where, purchase the ingredients, physically set up the factories, and start production. When I return to the game, I have to look it all over to remember where I was and go from there.
The website high score competition hooked me. I'm #13 on the global all-time list. I figured out a system was shooting for #1, until life got in the way and I had to take the game off my computer for a while.... sign of a true addict.
Negative - I wasn't fond of the overall music, but the music in each port was ok. The graphics were pretty good but not excellent. Clicking through the numerous people in the various port locations sometimes got a bit tedious.
I like the game, and now I have to get back to real life. The game is sitting there waiting for me to play again, and I look forward to it.
This game looks and sounds like it was made 15 years ago. The creators could have taken fuller advantage of the graphic artists out thar! Plus, with all the out of work actors in the world, they coulda/shoulda found been people for the voice overs. Finally, when you get stuck - the game ends. There's no option to help with finding the solution.
A rather simple game with only 3 buildings that can be built. Its a matter of gathering resources, building an army and killing the bad guys. Doesn't take much thought to play but is rather addicting. The price could use to be dropped a bit though.
Game is worth about 10 bucks less.
If you want a fun way to kill some time then this game is good. However if you want a game that requires a bit more thought and planning then other strategy games like Age of Mythology or AoE would be a much better deal.
I was enjoying myself in this game until it just suddenly ended!!! Just like some of the people wrote here, I am pretty upset that I just spent $20 on this game which took me less than two hours to finish.
I have only managed to get to level 6 and cannot get any further as the piano does not respond even when pressing on the keys in the right order. However, prior to that I thought the game was a good challenge with lots of great puzzles.
This is an excellent program for learning and honing your Texas Hold'em poker skills. Sound effects are nice. If you fold you can jimp to end of hand to see how you would have faired before next deal. There is even a feature that allows you to look at non-contested opponent's cards before next deal! Has excellent tutorial on how to play. Also the "statistics" and "advisor" windows can be easily hidden and shown. Good tech support at developer's website. I really have no complaints.
If you have ever seen the Price is Right game Plinko and wished you could do that yourself, than I really suggest Peggle. Part Plinko and part Brickles/Breakout, Peggle is really quite fun. Any fan of classical music will also find a little musical humor in the game as well...
Sure it's a card game, but there is enough going on here to keep you amused and pushing on to higher levels. Basically you are matching pairs to eliminate cards and clear the board for points before moving on to the next level.
Scenery is nice and the game developers give details about each of the American Falls.
Relaxing solitaire game for the whole family to enjoy.
This is a really really good game but it's unplayable if you're using Leopard. You can't change the resolution and play in fullscreen, that means you have to wrestle with all icons in the dock keep the mouse arrow inside the small doomsday area.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game & played it often until I upgraded to a new computer with Mac OS X 10.5.1. Now it crashes every time I try to play the Journey Mode. I am able to play the Zen Mode, but since I pad for it, I would like to be able to use the entire program! I emailed the company about a month ago, but as yet have heard nothing! Big disappointment because it was a great game!
