Deadly Puzzles: Toymaker
 –

Demo was tedious enough

One of the most boring HO games I have played..the graphics are not particularly great, there is barely a storyline to hang the endlessly repetitive unchallenging HO scenes on

Death Under Tuscan Skies: A Dana Knightstone Novel CE

Not impressive

Now I did get the music to work (see other review) but the game is very slow paced and so I lost interest..

Call of Duty: Black Ops
 –

I may never know...

Can't play the campaign game because maps can't be found while on Steam. Don't know if it's a download issue or a Steam issue and support from them is really opaque. The cloud never fails to underwhelm me.

SimCity
 –

It could have been so much more... -_-

SimCity is a franchise in which I had a lot of faith. From the earlier renditions I used to play as a child to the more recent simcity4. It seemed they had everything going for them and things could only get better. How wrong I was.

Simcity (2013) took a massive step backwards in terms of development. Yes, the graphics are outstanding, Yes, there are more features and a newer feel to the game ... Yet I couldn't help feeling this lacked the classic simcity charm.

I could go into the exact reasons why I feel this is but i'll stick to that fundamental point (i'm sure you've all heard about it via youtube etc.)

If you are looking for a new simcity game as you've played the previous ones to the points of sheer boredom - Purchase
If it's on sale and you want to see for yourself if the thousands of dissapointed gamers are being to judgemental - Purchase
If you are looking for an in-depth, engaging and time consuming game, stick to CIM or something with more soul.

LIMBO
 –

Simple, Suave, soulful

It's a rare occasion, when a simple and straightforward game can engage a player to the very end.

LIMBO has acheived this.

Simplistic and minimalistic, yet at the same time charming and elegant.

Worth the asking price hands down.

The Sims 3
 –

Fun,Funny,Funtastic

Great game, for all genders, ages and gaming preferences.
I'm a male 21 year old with a preference for strategy and 4x style games. Yet I still find great joy in opening up The Sims 3 and watching the utter randomness the sims has to offer. You could play it seriously ... Get a job, aquire a partner, build your house from scratch and have a succesful family........ Or you could lock your sims in a windowless room until they wet themselves, force them to hurl insults at every passer by causing the town to hate them, all while standing in their urine soaked underwear on the verge of starvation.

The choice really is yours, and that's one of the main unique selling points of the game.

I would recommend to anyone who could do with a good laugh !!

Democracy 3
 –

For those who enjoy being hated.

Like most polititians in a modern democracy, owners of this game are undoubtedly hated.

The members of the public are impossible to please, one group dislike the way you tip-toe over crime, so you introduce the death penalty, this annoys another group, so you introduce more power to the unions, this upsets another group, so you raise road tax, this upsets another group, so you ........... you get the picture.

A very detailed and well thought out game, I have never played the previous democracy's so this was a first for me, and safe to say i'm impressed. I'll be honest, I haven't a clue what i'm doing !! Yet the experience is still satisfactory and enjoyable. There are many policies you can introduce or abolish, many sliders to adjust how much effort/money goes into them, many variables to take into account and many things that can go wrong. I barely scrape through a term, on the cusp of being elected out of office , yet I shall replay and change my tactics slightly to find the initial problem solved...... yet now I have 100 more to deal with!

Highly recommended.

BioShock Infinite
 –

One of the finest

This is one of the best games of our generation, and possibly of all time. The game mechanics are smooth, the story is thoroughly original and engrossing, and the settings are absolutely stunning. Very few games have such ambitions – and then match them.

My only complaint would be that the combat is somewhat repetitive and overall a bit easy. But I see this game primarily as a very thoughtful, intelligent, high-concept historical fiction story communicated via the medium of an action/adventure game, so the relative lack of challenge was fine by me.

Also, 12-15 hours is the perfect amount of gameplay time. I know that's short by AAA standards, but the pacing of this game is perfect and I would hate to see it stretched thinner just to bulk up the gameplay time.

I'm not usually a fan of FPSs but this one blows the lid off the genre. Highly recommended.

Ambient atmosphere with challenging and rewarding gameplay

Very well-executed puzzle game. A perfect example of simple mechanics creating deep gameplay. It's also a fantastic balance of a calming, meditative atmosphere with legitimately challenging gameplay, taking the best elements of casual and hardcore gaming alike. Highly recommended.

Dark Ritual
 –

No starter

Downloaded the demo, mac meets all requirements, all I get is a blank screen for 1 second then the game quits and I get the window up with the two options, buy it or quit. Even though it says I have 60 mins to try the game. Useless...not prepared to spend even the $2.99 to see whether its just a demo problem. If they can't sort the demo launch I don't hold out much hope for the game..

Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition
 –

OK game, OK port

The port of this game is mostly fine but some bugginess pops up here and there. Games of this complexity will crash, I get that, but this game caused 4 kernel panics (i.e. computer shutdowns) in my playthrough, in addition to maybe a dozen soft crashes. For a game of this calibre from a developer of such repute, this level of crashiness is unacceptable. I'm currently unable to progress through one of the DLC quests because of a persistent crash. (The "final sale" caveat is just salt in the wound here.)

As for the game itself: it's good, but I don't think it's the transcendent experience that it has been made out to be among the critics. It plays the classical RPG pretty close to the book: human/elf/dwarf, warrior/mage/rogue, make your party, fight battles, loot corpses, kill the dragon... nothing really outside of the box. It's very well balanced and well constructed, for sure, but it rests a little too heavily on the tropes of the genre. Also, I know it's supposed to be epic and all, but 30 hours is too long for the content. I'd say there's about 15 hours of legitimate content and 15 hours of padding: repetitive battles, fetch quests, lots and lots and lots of travel time...

Ultimately, the game is functional enough that it's worth purchasing if you want to have it. And, well, you probably already know if you want to have it. It's a high-fantasy RPG, through and through, for better or worse.

TROPICO 5

I Love this series. I always have. Knocked it out of the park with this one! Some of the controls are tough, but like all new games as you get the hang of it you start to lose yourself in the storyline/game. Stoked. Glad it wasn't a flop like SimCity.
