– Bush LeagueThis is a silly game. Movement is terrible — strictly linear. No mouse control. Combat is unengaging. Graphics look as if they were designed on a Ninetendo in 1992. Even at $10 this is a waste of money. Too many games are far better, including throw-backs like the Eschalon series, let alone Dragon Age, Witcher, etc. I can't believe this was once $30. by John Lysaker, USA - Jul 9th 2014

– DisappointmentMuch of the game is quite impressive - nice vistas, interesting puzzles, good storyline. Much of the game consists of making jumps but, even though I have a problem with reflexes/hand-eye coordination, it wasn't a problem as patience and experiment paid off. Then towards the end, out of nowhere, wind is introduced into the game and it becme impossible to me. I must have attempted one jump forty or fifty times. Looks like I won't be able to finish the game. So pointless to ruin an excellent game with a ridiculous twist. by NorthernSpruce, Canada - Jul 9th 2014

– When creative story telling meets generic gameplayI've been wanting to play this game for ages, not for the gameplay, I heard this game has some interesting story-telling elements that I think I should experience it myself. Some of the expectations are actually true, while the moral choice is subtle and creative, it leaves no impact on the whole story. The story is engaging and keeps you guessing till the very end, however, the ending leaves a little to be desired, it fells into hollywood cliches and overall feel underwhelming. I used mouse and keyboard to play the game, the shooting feels a little loose. AI movements are okay and squad command is shallow and unnecessary. Overall, the gameplay is typical 3rd person shooting gallery, not amazing. I enjoy my playthrough of the game. It's an interesting take on modern military shooter, but this game suffered from generic gameplay and overall unpolished presentations may or may not due to its long development circle. by dotmacck, USA - Jul 9th 2014

– Could be betterGraphic and sound are as wonderful as any other ND games. Good work! And I personally love that the game is set in New Zealand. However, despite my love for the game's settings, I have to say the whole plot and the Sonny Joon character are slightly dissatisfying. The plot is quite anti-climatic in the end and I'm still not quite sure of what it is actually about. It seems like a loose end to me. I hope the next one would be better. Cheers. by nicolelkw, New Zealand - Jul 9th 2014

– Wonderful game with great storyI have done (and bought) this game twice now, and I loved it both times. I did it when it first came out, and now I bought it again so I could play it with my kids on a new computer. It is horror but not a splatter, and the story and adventure elements are much stronger than the horror side. Still, it does keep you on edge, which is a plus for me. The puzzles are not too difficult, so you can pretty much do the whole game without having to go see a walkthrough, which I appreciate - I hate games where you get stuck and bored for hours, but this is defintely not one of them. I consider this one of the best adventure games ever. by Valentina Pagliai, USA - Jul 8th 2014

– EngagingThis was the first game I played by the makers and I liked it enough to go on and buy their other games. While not as good as the original Avernum, it is a great game. I had not problems with bugs (on a 2012 Mackbook Air with OS 10.7.5). There is a lot to read, true, but I didn't mind because it helped develop the characters, and I like to play with fuller characters. I did not like you had to play inside the establishment (as an Avadon agent), but I did like the game allowed you rebellion. I did not like that gender choices forced you into class choices (a problem solved in Avadon 2). by Valentina Pagliai, USA - Jul 8th 2014

– Masterpiece!Yes, this game is intelligent, beautiful, with a great story line, and great characters. Absolutely worthy of the adventure Hall of fame. The graphics are so good I had people commenting positively on them from behind my back as I played (in the train). The puzzles are challenging and a few times you get stuck, but not impossible. Generally, the challenges follow a logic, you just have to find the logic. by Valentina Pagliai, USA - Jul 8th 2014

– Nice sequel (with some romance too)I was ready to buy this game because I had enjoyed the previous one and I wanted to see the sequel. Well, they changed the characters so it is only partially a sequel. Also, depending on the choices you had done in Avalon 2, this could not be the sequel (which was my case, and I will not say anything else to avoid spoilers). I still enoyed it quite a bit. I liked that this time you could choose gender independently from the fighting class, and you had more choices in companions. There was also some romance - not very developed but I hope in the future the makers will consider developing the romance side further (and give more choices there too, not only hetero love). by Valentina Pagliai, USA - Jul 8th 2014

– Fun as alwaysFun to see the couple up to miskief again :) A good story and the graphics had definitely improved. Some really comic moments. I played it with my kids and we really enjoyed it. One thing we didn't like was that it was kind of slow: it took forever for characters to move around and to talk. The ability to regulate speed would have been a great plus. I loved that they looked into gnostic religion this time. I loved to meet again the grazy American couple. I had a sensation that George received more active time in this game than before, with less active time given to Nico. I wish they had 50/50. by Valentina Pagliai, USA - Jul 8th 2014

– Short but with enough tensionThis was my first hidden object game, and I enjoyed it. I thought it was good how the game was able to keep the tension up, and there was an engaging story line. I did it together with my 11 year old daughter (who loves hidden object games) and she liked it too, even if she was a bit scared a few times (not enough scared to quit it :) by Valentina Pagliai, USA - Jul 8th 2014

– Pirates! ReturnsSid Meier's Pirates is an excellent rewrite of this classic game which contain all the variations of the old classic using surperior graphics and play. The heart of the game, sailing and firing on other ships is still here as are the quests you need to complete to raise your final score. The game sorely needs a better key mapping explaination (it is possible though it is not explained in the documentation) because the best keyboard controls rely on having a keypad on your keyboard. Most laptops and most desktops do not have keypads and the most effective controls rely on using a mouse AND a keypad. Worse yet are two additions to the game that are both useless and difficult to use; sneaking through a town and dancing with the woman to gain rewards. I have yet to understand why the town sneak was even added. It has no game function what so ever. The dance sequences at least offer a chance of rewards but the difficulty of movement (you need to use the keypad to be most effective) gets harder as you progress in rank. Very odd. My experience with real dancing is that you improve with practice. These 2 unneccesary additions make me rate what would have been a 5 star star game as only a 3 star game. by Elias Chapelle, USA - Jul 8th 2014
