tasty planet is one of my old time favorite games. The sequel is awesome. All new items to gobble up as you travel through the past and future. There is more of a variety of objects then the first game (bugs, raisins, bones, rice, turtles etc . . .)
I enjoy the graphics, the music, the AI... but if your friend is at your place and you want to play, you can't. So only 2 stars because I thought it was an important option.
This story line is an X File type case. Good graphics. Each scene has a nice bit of movement such as butterflies or dust particles dancing in the light. Music was appropriate to each scene's mood. Every mini puzzle was different. This game has a welcome linear flow lacking in some puzzle/hidden object games. Not too hard, but not overly easy. Enjoy!
One of the best simulations in a long time. Spoiled by Anno 1602 (which I still want for the Mac) and Masters of Orion II I never really found replacements on the Mac platform. Until Royal Envoy. Excellent graphics, great interface (love the progress bars) and smart structure. No violence, no profanity - just addictive fun for hours of gaming fun.
The $10 download fee is really it's only saving point for me.
The inclusion of all the new elements fit very poorly in with the original and make it hard to enjoy the core game.
Artwork: The original was beautifully drawn and animated, and the new artwork is thick and animation clunky. The problem is that it's intermingled the new into the original so you have the original art style comparable to classic animation like Black Cauldron and Secret of Nimh, mixed in with thick lined vector style animation that looks like a Flash cartoon.
The face shots during conversations do not move but a few times during the conversation and the inclusion of larger, bulkier, poorly animated 3d characters makes the whole thing feel inconsistent and rushed.
The new story elements as well as the new audio feel exactly the same way, they just don't fit and you'll find yourself fighting to reconcile the new and old elements to make sense of it all and enjoy.
They also added more clues such as audio cues and a radar to find items to pick up and interact with so there isn't much challenge and satisfaction in solving the puzzles.
All this being said, don't buy this if you're looking to experience this game again, the new stuff really derails most of what made the original so great. However, if you've never played this game and ONLY have a mac, it's worth the 10 bucks and you'll still enjoy the story as a whole, but the inconsistencies across the board are pretty apparent and annoying.
As a player of more sophisticated games, such as Starcraft, I was a little hesitant in buying this game but anything "train" gets my attention.
I'm stuck at the very beginning unable to accomplish the seemingly simple tutorial task of moving three rail cars to siding No. 3; it would appear intuitive however I've attempted this a number of times with variations and while learning by trial and error on how to do things such as switch track direction I have yet to get credit for moving the three cars to siding No. 3.
Also, all of the other missions are blocked - apparently until I accomplish this tutorial task.
I have a pentium machine, but it can't handle this game. The first hour is fine, but it starts to crash in the third and fourth levels. I wish I had known that before I purchased it.
The visuals are OK, I suppose, but no one familiar with backgammon strategy could have programmed the game's computer opponent. It is pathetic. Hoyle's backgammon isn't great, but it far surpasses this one. Absolute Backgammon is probable even better, although the graphics lack pizzazz.
The game is nearly unplayable when it was released on 6th, Oct under OSX 10.6.4 with 2.66GHz mid-2009 Macbook Pro. Thanks to the 10.6.5 upgrade and I can play it with 1280 x 800 all settings to medium( shadow low) and 2xAA. The only problem is that youmust have a very reliable internet connection.
Customer service won't help you if you have the latest Mac OS. When my OS upgraded, the game quit working and CS wouldn't attempt to help. Don't you think game creators have an obligation to keep their games current to work with new operating systems? Apparently they don't.
I wouldnt recommend buying it for a laptop. All my settings are on low and it's kinda choppy still. However, I love the game and when it runs smooth it's really fun. The online only thing is kinda lame because I dont understand why a single player game would need it but I guess it's not my call.
I loved this game, but I'm giving it only four stars because of the way it ended and the fact that there seems to be no replay action. For the price, it is beautiful, engaging, and a little bit different from the usual. I am very glad I bought it. Just wish it lasted longer.
i have beat both one and two twice over - and this is by far the best format for a time management game i have seen yet. i mean, diner dash is pretty good, but this is better! i love to see what kind of food is coming up next...please make a burger shop 3 ASAP!
A much needed game for the Mac platform is filled with glitches and performance bugs. I have installed my copy on 3 different Macs and have had the same problems; crashes, lost saves files, and glitchy mouse controls. Too bad that such a good looking and needed game for the Mac is such a bust. I am sorry I wasted my money on this. Not recommended.
I loved loved loved this game. It made me think but wasn't so taxing that I couldn't solve the puzzles while in bed with 'flu. I especially liked that you kept having to go back to places that you'd already been to, you really had to keep exploring the castle continuously. I can't wait for the sequel!
It is possibly one of the most beautifull , deep , scary as hell game ever crafted. The fear grows inside you as you try to hide in the dark praying that the thing following you wont find you. The story is quite intriguing with a "Lovercraftian" taste. A must have for the braves and the lovers of good survival horror games!
I've worked in restaurant kitchens and the game makes you feel like you're in one (simplified version). you have to time everything, when to prep, when to fire, do you fire all orders one after another? it's pretty cool.
I was hesitant to purchase this given some reports of bad performance or bugs, but I have found I can max all the graphics without a problem on my new 27" iMac. No DRM issues either, as long as you have a stable net connection, it won't bother you. (I am always online anyway, so it works.)
The game itself is also very fun. An amazing recreation of renaissance Italy. Gorgeous graphics, fantastic voice work and music, and the fun of being an assassin. Its hard to ask for much else. Check it out.
