Sid Meier's Civilization V
 –

Steam, a real disappointment

As a paying gamer, never using pirate software, I despise being penalised in the stead of those who do steal. No wonder the game costs 50 bucks, probably $10 from each sale is going to Steam. Nowhere on this page does it mention that Steam must be installed on your system to play this game. I have had experience with Steam in the past and they are dodgy. They have modified programs with their own content and have in some ways damaged features of the original. I do not trust Steam at all and am disappointed that Sid Meier's has gone this way, it will no doubt be a long term arrangement and, as a result, this fan will not be purchasing any more Civ games. I did not choose this option and would not have bought the game if I had known.

Lots of Fun!

Game was fantastic. Especially enjoyed the way it was drawn. It was a little short, and the some of the puzzles were very hard, but otherwise it was a heap of fun and very entertaining. Enjoyed it a lot, definitely worth buying.

Borderlands

Plays well even on a mini

Yes, I have it here on a Mini from 2009 with 2 Gb memory. I only had to decrease the resolution, as with 1200x1024 there were sound glitches. Graphics are still enjoyable on 800x600, SF comics Moebius-like if you know what I mean. Most importantly, keyboard can be reconfigured and you should make use of that. This is a must for any shooter fan.

Sid Meier's Civilization V

Great game, worth a look for Civ or Strategy fans

For all the Civilization fans out there, should you buy this? Heck yeah! The core gameplay remains the same, combat is more interesting than ever before, culture provides a large number of major new options, and it's easily the best Civilization release to date. Even if you're not a fan of the series, it offers a wide variety of gameplay choices from even an early stage, and can be played how you wish. Want to kill everyone? Build an army! Want to awe the world with your well-developed culture? Build wonders! Want to terrify China with your space program? Build Apollo! But build something, because your civilization won't wait.

Journalist Journey: The Eye Of Odin

This needs some work because I cannot get the game to open when clicking on the PLAY! Game freezes. I can't force quit out of this game. Have to shut off computer to close it.

I want to another game of equal value in exchange for this one, that does not work (at all).

Way too short

This game is way too short. I was playing the game and all of a sudden the game was finished. I played maybe two ours or something and than it's done. Too little game for too many money...

Simple and playable, looks very good for kids

I downloaded the trial when I was in search of a replacement for Fish Tycoon, which was my 5-year-old daughter's favourite game when I had a PC. I immediately purchased it as the 1-hour trial time expired. My daughter loved it at first glance.

We found it much simpler than Fish Tycoon, but audio and graphics are better, and also much more playable: no long waiting for things to happen.

First levels are simple enough for my daughter to complete by herself. We've just completed the 40 levels and now we're waiting for the next release!

Challenging Game

I really enjoyed this hidden object game. I thought the H.O. part was challenging, but not too difficult. The mini-games were very original. They were easy enough to complete, but challenging to do really well. Definitely one of the more interesting H.O. games I've played and well worth the $.

Heart's Medicine - Season One

Basic Time Management Game

25 scenes and not too difficult mini-games made it easy to finish this game quickly and gather all the trophies. Little variation on the time management aspect of it. If you've played TM games before, you should have no problem getting through this one. It was worth the money for the one-time through, but I probably won't be replaying it again. If you try this though, make sure you have good mouse coordination or try playing the casual, untimed version.

Sid Meier's Civilization V

Either time for Sid to go back to school, or Fame has gone to his head!

I search for a word to describe Civ V: disappointing? Not strong enough. A total let-down-perhaps a bit too strong. I certainly did not like the idea that gamers could no longer edit their maps or create new ones. Unless I totally misread the game, I was totally turned off by this feature. I also did not like having a "gang" of settlers (or anything else for that matter) popping up when I only created "one" (so I thought). I thought that issue had been dealt with a few versions ago. I think a potential gamer should take time to view the "game trailer" in that the programmers failed to follow even their own parameters. Namely, "too much talk- and not enough good 'ole Civ action we came to trust Sid Meier for, yet perhaps that the problem. I think he sold out to WallMart and all we got was a few "blue-light" specials!

Right now, the best game for Mac's is still Quake IV, and that's not even related to the basic guidelines of CIv V, but it sure could take some hints.

Fun and fantasy

I liked it because I enjoy solving puzzles and there were many which were new and different to me. I agree I would rather be able to choose male or female rather than have the choice made but I got used to her after a while.

pretty good game!

It was fun to play. If you are used to FPS games. The controls are easy to learn. Graphics are great. By accident, I found out that I could use Logitech Joy stick. I would recommend it if you like top down shooter games.

Enjoyable and different

I enjoyed this new game, as it had puzzles that I had not come across before. Interesting story, although the female protagonist was somewhat irritating - well worth the time and cost.

If you liked Myst you will enjoy this fun and fast puzzle mystery. It was exactly the right blend of interesting and challenging. I did it in one day but really enjoyed playing hooky from working! I highly recommend it. Well rendered, fast moving.

It's cool game. The best of the hidden object genre. Hope that you will have more such titles in your Macgamestore line-up. Thank you in advance!
