Description

Omerta - City of Gangsters is a simulation game with tactical turn-based combat. Taking the role of a fresh-from-the-boat immigrant, with dreams of the big life, the player will work his way up the criminal hierarchy of 1920’s Atlantic City. Starting with small jobs, his character recruits a gang and expands his empire by taking territory from other gangsters. Eventually he establishes his own crime syndicate and becomes the de facto ruler of Atlantic City.

    Stylish, yes, but some more gameplay is needed*****

    Well, something like XCOM but less diverse. The missions are bringing some startegic aspect but they can be easily avoided. The game can be done without any battle by monotonous purchaing of businesses.

    Solid performance and great stylized graphics make this game a lot of fun. Fantastic nostalgia and really cool missions. Definitely recommend!

    Fun niche title without much competition*****

    First off: If you're at all into the theme of the good ol' gangster time, this game is definitely fun to play. It's a a nice take on the Gangsters approach and is good fun. At first glance, and for the first couple hours, the game is great fun.

    Unfortunately it lacks depth later on – you find yourself just „tagging along" the storyline and basically just waiting until you're ready to click the next building so you can get into the next in-house-fight.

    The fights are quite well done and entertaining.

    There's a lot of potential and I am looking forward to a sequel with more depth: More freedom of choice & more options on the city level, with a bit more depth in your gangster's progression (e.g. RPG-elements).
