Penny Dreadfuls: Sweeney Todd Premium Edition
 –

Gruesome fun

Anyone familiar with the story of Sweeney Todd won't be surprised by the grisly storyline. The theatre is fun, and adds to the melodrama of the story, and there is a nice mix between HO and puzzles to solve. All in all, took me about 5 hours to solve playing off and on over a few days. Good length and good fun.

Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull Collector's Edition
 –

Excellent game!!! Took me about 7.5 hours to solve completely.

And when I thought I was done... I wasn't. I was very happy with the length of the game.

Excellent value for the money! Graphics are beautiful, story is engaging, and it's a great mix of puzzle solving and HO.
Only caution would be that it may be a little scary (and occasionally inappropriate) for younger gamers. But little kids aren't their core audience anyways, so it doesn't really matter.

I think this was the best of Mystery Case Files yet... by far!

Phantasmat Collector's Edition
 –

Have only played the demo so far, but it's a lot of fun!

I really like how there are three levels of difficulty - playing without hints makes the games much more enjoyable for puzzlers, and I wish other developers would take note. The story's interesting, and you can click through the dialogue to speed it up. Being able to switch between Match 3 and HO to mix it up is good, although I stuck to HO for the most part. I suspect I'll buy this one on a rainy weekend to pick up where I left off!

One caveat - some of the graphics may be a little disturbing for young players (i.e. dead bird, worms coming out of a dismembered doll's eye, etc.). It adds to the atmosphere, though!

Didn't even finish the demo.

Terrible game - quit the demo after 20 minutes. Graphics are way too dark, and no apparent puzzle beyond bad HO.

Robin's Quest: A Legend Born
 –

Fun - only took a couple hours, but the price was right

This was a cute game. Music was pleasant without being annoying, and the quests were fun. Only things I'd note is that it's not long - only took me a couple hours without using any hints - and sometimes it was a little too simple for my liking. But fun nonetheless.

Victorian Mysteries: Woman in White
 –

Fun, but very short

This was fun - I liked how you had to use the items uncovered in the HO sections to get through the rooms.

That said, it was a little too easy for my liking, and it only took me about 2.5 hours to solve. Plus, there were a number of characters who were introduced via the journal but who never had any bearing on the game play - the writers could have fleshed out those characters more or omitted them altogether.

Luckily, the price was right!

Drawn: The Painted Tower
 –

very pretty little game

The artwork is gorgeous. The puzzles are quirky and creative, but there's still enough logic behind them that you can get through without hints if you really put your mind to it. I liked the storyline, and the music's very nice too.

Nice part is you got a relatively satisfying ending, and yet you just know it's wide open for the sequel (which I hope is released shortly!).

I wouldn't say this game is replayable, but I got a good 6 hours or so of enjoyment working my way through the puzzles. I didn't pay full pop because it was part of a bundle, though.

Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst
 –

Great game. Well worth the money.

This is a really fun puzzle game. Took a lot longer than the typical HO game - actually finding the items was only a small portion of the game - so I'd say at $10 it's great value. The real fun comes in solving the riddles. A little bit of an odd storyline, but interesting nonetheless. There are some funny bits in there to lighten the mood if you pay attention. Anyway, took me a number of sittings to solve it and it's by far my favourite Mystery Case File game to date. Looking forward to the next one!

Mystery Case Files: Prime Suspects

Fun... but keeps freezing

This is a cute H/O game and we were enjoying the whimsical characters... but this is the 3rd time that it's frozen my Mac to the point where I have to reboot. Completely detracts from the enjoyment to the point where I'm hesitant to play. Very frustrating. I would normally give it about 3.5 stars, but the glitch prevents me from assigning anything above a 2.

Campfire Legends - The Hookman
 –

Lots of fun, but too short

I found this one more challenging than most - the puzzles were fun and I liked how you had to go to multiple scenes to figure out the hidden object goals. My complaint is that it was way too short (finished in less than 3 hours); that's why I'm not giving it 5 stars.
I'd buy a sequel if it lasted longer!

Mary Kay Andrews: The Fixer Upper
 –

too short, too simple, and not age-appropriate

The puzzles were very simple, but the dialogue was interesting. But everything wrapped up very quickly and abruptly! I still had about 10 minutes to go on my demo hour and I'd finished the game - mystery solved, credits rolling.

Given the ease of the puzzles, I would have thought the game was intended for younger players, but the overall theme is actually pretty mature (FBI, fraud, sexual harassment, etc.). So I'm not really sure who the intended demographic is - I think the developers missed the mark on this one. Certainly I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

The Serpent of Isis
 –

Lot of fun, but short

I really enjoyed this game - the objects are well hidden, and the puzzles are fun. Only problem is that I finished it in about 4 hours. It might keep younger players busy for longer, of course. And my husband's taking a bit longer to plough through it - but he only plays with it off and on. He's not the must-solve-in-one-sitting type.

Still, if you compare the entertainment-cost-per-minute to going to the movies, getting this game is by far the better deal! But don't expect it to occupy you for a straight weekend or anything.
