Crusader Kings III: Northern Lords

Adds more content and flavor but is not essential

Adds more content and flavor but is not essential. It also covers my favorite region of the game, as I find Scandinavia in this era very interesting. I am biased because I am from there of course, being a Swedish citizen that is half Icelandic and half Swedish.

Get this DLC if you love the game, and want more content and flavor and want to support the developers. But if you are tight on money and you find it expensive, you can avoid it if you like.

Stellaris: Necroids Species Pack
 –

Pretty cool, and like their newer species packs it adds gameplay as well

Adds more content and flavor but is not essential.

I haven't played with this much honestly, but I like the portraits and the additional ways to play the game that I will enjoy someday.

It's also nice seeing the AI use these for more variety.

Stellaris: Nemesis

Adds very interesting things

I must admit I haven't played much of this content yet. But I have experienced the new espionage system and I am not sure if they are successful with implementing an espionage system that is actually meaningful or not.

I feel like every strategy game that implements an espionage system misses the mark. Either it's pointless, so the mechanics go overlooked and unused by players. Or it's overpowered and you have to use it to compete at the higher difficulties or in multiplayer. Or it cumbersome or annoying, or just not fun to use. And I feel like most of all, an espionage system implemented in a Strategy game ends up being very, VERY, frustrating to play against. Because of being spammed by AI sabotage or whatever. And the very nature of espionage is that it's stealthy, and not knowing what hit you, or how to prevent it, or just feeling like you have no control is not fun.

That said, I think the system they have implemented in this DLC has lots of potential. And I think they have avoided many of the potential pitfalls.

Crusader Kings III: Royal Edition
 –

Very good and getting better

Great grand strategy game.

My homosexual Emperor of my multi-Empire realm was forced to abdicate and forced into exile. His daughter inherited the main throne and the rest of the empire was divided among her siblings.

My old emperor then became the Emperor of France and there was in-fighting between the sibling states. If I remember correctly he even became my ally for a while during those wars to rejoin the empire.

Not only that, almost every European state had relatives of my family as rulers.

In another game I had to assassinate my wife. It's an interesting game.
