Pickers: Adventures in Rust
 –

Good for passing the time

This game is a good "rainy afternoon time-passer"—after the first round through, you've seen all of the locations and had a pretty good chance to see a lot of the possible "buys" and finds. Beyond that, you have to work a bit to keep it interesting.

I started on the second level (not the free-pick mode, but the basic competition mode) and the first time through placed third; that was (at least mostly) because I spent the first half of that round learning what qualified into different categories, and it wasn't intuitive that I could go from place to place within the same "pick." The second time through on basic competition, I pulled into the lead on the second pick and blew the rest away. Even then, I was still learning a little.

Intermediate competition is very difficult. I've never finished higher than 9th, and I've played it three or four times. I haven't yet played the highest level.

There are a handful of things about the game that don't make much sense—like the keys: I found 44 out of 40 (?) keys and I still don't know what they are supposed to do.

It's a fun game to tinker with when you don't want to get into anything too serious. Not a favorite, but I'll keep it around.
