After a couple of years of playing Hearts of Iron IV with the La Résistance DLC, I've slowly come to appreciate its unique additions. Although it's still my least favorite among the major DLCs for the game, it introduces an espionage minigame that enhances the campaign with a new strategic layer.
Initially, I wasn't fond of how espionage was integrated into the game, but certain missions, such as setting up collaborative governments before conquering a nation, have added interesting tactical options. These missions provide more depth for players looking to approach conquest and diplomacy differently.
In addition, this DLC revisits and expands the national focus trees for Spain and France, which can provide fresh and engaging experiences for players familiar with these nations.
While the espionage mechanics may require some adjustment at first, I no longer feel the need to disable the DLC during my playthroughs. If you enjoy expanding your strategic possibilities and exploring new aspects of the game, this DLC offers a worthwhile experience. Overall, although it may not be my favorite DLC, it's a solid addition for dedicated players.
