  1. Imperfect but lots of fun
    by Torvanyr, Denmark - Dec 2nd 2018

The tactical mech combat is fantastic, and it's something that is handled well and controls easily with a very gentle learning curve. The story is good, although the randomly generated missions can be a bit thin and repetitive. Configuring and customizing your mechs is great, and can be as micromanagement-intensive as you want if you're into that sort of thing. All in all the game is worth playing and has benefited quite positively from post-release patching.

  2. Great tactic game
    by Wilfried R., Germany - Oct 31st 2018

Battletech has it's strength in the tactical combat and the configuration of your mechs (and training the right pilots for them).

the story is good, but imho not great, otherwise i would have given it 5 stars.

  3. Great Game but can get tedious
    by Stuart O., United Kingdom - Sep 30th 2018

While i love the game and they have improved QOL with patches (more difficultys ui changes and bug fixes) it still can get tedious as the random selection of missions draws from a small pool of mechs and objectives, so be warned if that will bother you

  4. Amazing, but not without flaws
    by Migol, Poland - Sep 18th 2018

Game is AMAZING - it has most of the stuff that was in the base Battletech boardgame. But... As much as it was enough to be a board game, we grew to expect more from computer games. Maybe expansions will add more content.
Single player campaign is quite good, story line is solid while being able to simply ignore it and hunt for glory is just great. And as with most (all?) Paradox games, modding community is amazing, definitely worth modifying your game.

  5. High learning curve
by Scott Henderson, USA - Aug 14th 2018

I normally wait until I have completely finished playing a game before writing a review, but with BattleTech, that might take some time. The game world is huge. One can create custom 'Mechs and Lances (group of 'Mechs) to go on Skirmishes and fight head to head against other players online. Then there is the Campaign version which I've just started playing. That interweaves a story arc through various planned skirmishes and requires more time to invest in building, planning and surviving in the BattleTech universe.

Universally, the main complaint I've seen about (and have with) the game is the lack of any kind of help system or decent tutorial. The game has a very high learning curve. A manual for the beta version of the game can be found here...

The UI elements are numerous and complex until you read about how to use and take advantage of them. Watching a lot of videos and reading many Steam articles has gotten me to the point that I actually understand what is going on during a battle and how to best use the information to my advantage. Playing a number of Skirmish battles before tackling the Campaign mode is also beneficial. Campaign mode has some questionable language in the dialog, so if "religious exclamations" bother you as they do me, be forewarned.

OK, but is it fun to play? Yes, once you have an idea of what to expect, the game is quite fun. This is not XCOM with mech warriors though. Gameplay is completely different, so investing the time to learn about the game is necessary. All in all, this is a vast game with many, many elements that could occupy one's spare time for years to come. Well worth the investment of money and time.

  7. Everything I love
    by Jaime M.5, Spain - Jun 30th 2018

It has the pace of an action game and the strategy of a RTS combine with robots and tanks, simply the best.

  8. Good TBS with a good story!
    by Bogdan R., Romania - Jun 4th 2018

A great turn-based strategy, similar to games like XCOM, set in the Mechwarrior universe we know from ages ago. Both storyline and gameplay are solid, well worth the asking price.

  9. Nearly perfect
    by Lexkun, Germany - May 3rd 2018

I don't regret even one cent spent on this game. The battles are fun and moderate challenging. Sometimes a lucky cockpit hit by the enemies shatters my whole confidence and breaks my formations but that's my own fault. Some minor patching would be nice but it runs well regardless.

    Needs the Warhammer mech though...

  10. Good title
    by Ricardo S.4, Portugal - Apr 30th 2018

It's not the prettiest, and it's a little bit on the slow slide...

... but damn it's good, and addictive. Civilization-level of addictive, where the "One More Turn" transforms into "One More Mission".

It's good. Play it without thinking too much on how it looks.

  11. Perfect roundbased Mechaction (german)
    by PeterBarsk, Germany - Apr 25th 2018

    Genre: Rundenbasierendes Taktikspiel; Wirtschaftssimulation

    Battletech-Ära: 3025

    - umfassende Storyelemente
    - guter Wirtschaftsanteil
    - gute Adaption der Tabletop-Regeln
    - umfangreiche Anpassungen an den Mechs möglich
    - Mechnahkampf und Death from Above sind möglich
    - sehr leicht zu modden

    - nur einige Passagen der Storyline sind vertont
    - derzeit nur in Englisch

Sicherlich eine der häufigsten Fragen vorab:
Sind Clanmechs enthalten? Antwort: Nein.

    1. Söldner-Management
Welche Aufträge nimmt man an? Also doch das Geld.

Entscheidungen, Entscheidungen.
