Description

The fertile valleys and trade routes of the Middle East have attracted ambitious conquerors since the beginning of recorded history. Now, Europa Universalis IV adds greater depth and more varied possibilities to this crossroads of empires in the new expansion Cradle of Civilization. With new decisions and opportunities tied to the historical development of the region in the early modern era, Cradle of Civilization further enhances the award-winning grand strategy of Europa Universalis IV.

New Governments:
Powerful decisions related to each of the special government types of the Middle East, including unique mechanics for the Egyptian Mamluks, Persia, and the heirs to Timur.

Trade Policies:
Activate your merchants in trade nodes for special missions beyond the collection of money – prepare the ground for a future military action or spread Islam to an eager audience.

Islamic Schools:
Study the doctrines and understandings of the one true faith for special bonuses and diplomatic advantage in a new adjustment to the last of the great Abrahamic religions.

Army Professionalism:
Drill and discipline your armies as you move from the age of mercenary captains to the mass levies of standing armies.

Exploit Development:
Reduce the strength of your provinces for a quick influx of cash or manpower, stripping your nation's future for immediate gain.

And more:
Changes to national ideas, missionary actions, Turkish Janissaries and many other game mechanics.

  1. Solid DLC
    by Stefan V.1, USA - May 12th 2019

This DLC adds much-needed flavor into the Islamic world, a section oft overlooked. It gives a lot of variation with the new Islamic Schools mechanics and makes playing Muslims overall more fun.

  2. Not needed at all and it's a good thing.
    by Marcin M.14, Poland - Apr 24th 2019

You don't need this DLC to play game at all. It doesn't has any feature that playing without makes game unplayable, but it has a lot of small ones that can make your games more in depth and allows for more freedom in your game. The big features of this game as of more depth to Middle East and army professionalism don't make this dlc worthy in itself. What makes it worthy however is making small changes like promoting advisors, exploiting development or allowing to use missionaries in your vassal provinces. From big features exploting professionalism serves good as additional manpower pool and it buffs Mameluks, so Ottomans don't have so easy start for their blobbing

  3. A bunch of feature for a specific region, some minor features everywhere else
    by Dubbs09, USA - Jan 25th 2019

Unless you are planning on playing in certain regions, may not be a big deal (but will change AI). Army drilling for professionalism is a pretty good added feature for peace time and getting the jump at the start of wars.
