This game is getting a lot of criticism for its portrayal of the faction leaders with comic style graphics. While older Civilization titles used a more "realistic" art style to suggest some sense of political gravitas to your own leadership activities, Civ VI went full on gamey. And I got to say, why not? Firstly this new artstyle does not retract from earlier games. You can still play Civ V and it is awesome. And secondly, it's kind of nice!
The biggest development in Civ VI is imo the tile based city growth. This way Civ VI really feels different from its predecessors and thus like a game in it's own right. I don*t think that it is somehow better or worse than the old city building approach, but it sure is breathing some fresh air into the franchise.
I do recommend, giving it a shot!
Civ 6 is fantastic. The art style is a little goofy for my taste but the gameplay is solid and better than Civ 5. I've played everyone since Civ 3 and I highly recommend this.
