Description

Conclave , the latest major expansion for Crusader Kings II, will give your vassals some bite to go along with your bark, as the council that governs your realm will now demand some say in how you rule. Powerful dukes, regardless of competence, will require a seat at the table, and those left on the outside will be more likely to plot against you.

Keep your council happy, and the mighty vassals will resist the pull of faction and civil war. Dismiss their interests, though, and you may find yourself trying to hold together a council at war with itself.
Balance councilor skill and power to keep your dynasty safe and strong. Ignore powerful underlings at your peril, or simply buy their loyalty with favors. Conclave makes the royal council a force unto itself.

Crusader Kings II appreciates the subtlety of court intrigue. Conclave will give you new avenues to test that skill.
  • Councils can now vote on changes to realm laws – or you can try to limit their power and influence
  • Revised education system for royal children, with new traits and events designed for childhood
  • New diplomatic system that prioritizes marital alliances and non-aggression pacts, as well as the possibility of coalitions
  • Improved military combat model with a greater emphasis on morale, as well as new
  • rules for mercenary companies

by Karl F. Davie Burgdorf, USA - Nov 26th 2017

The Conlave DLC is a nice addition to the CK2 family. A must if you enjoy the game!

  3. Essential for certain mods, and all negative features can be toggled off now
    by Kaiser-e-rum, USA - Oct 20th 2017

Pick it up on sale, the game is patched so now you can toggle off conclaves worst features, and get access to newer mods.

  4. Its rather lackluster
    by MeisterJoe, Canada - Aug 2nd 2017

CK2 shows its age and this expansions does nothing to help that.

  5. Council management
    by Marino1278, Germany - Jul 9th 2017

It's a major expansion which adds council management, maybe more challenging now.

  6. Yet another CK2 expansion
    by Seba76, Spain - May 9th 2017

With this DLC, your council gets cocky! They can restrain you from many actions, force reforms or, in the case you can act when they're against, respond in consequence.
Buy & sell favors, keep the balance between hiring the best "technocrats" or raising powerful vassals to counselors for them to like you best.

Quite a gameofthronish thing, this. If can live without it, wait for it to be on sale

  7. Got this during sale, wasn't sure at first, but it's not horrible
    by Tyler L.1, USA - Apr 10th 2017

I purchased this alongside Horse Lords and Reaper's Due. When I first bought this, I kept it off and only used Horse Lords and Reaper's Due until I was comfortable with those additions, because turning on Conclave completely changes how you deal with education/factions primarily. If you give it a chance, dealing with your court and factions aren't as big of a deal as some people make it out to be, but it is understandably annoying when you are trying to make the shift over to using it.

Give it a shot, I haven't considered turning Conclave off since I started playing with it, even if it was a rough transition.

  8. Yet another dlc that does not add anything (nothing good at least)
    by Batavorn, Netherlands - Feb 10th 2017

Conclave is proof that Paradox has to stop releasing more dlc for CKII: anything they add at this point is either trivial or actually detracts from the fun. Conclave's main concept is a council that interferes with the ruling king or emperor's decisions. It is somewhat enjoyable when you are a nobleman who can use his council seat to indirectly change this in the kingdom to your advantage but that's where the fun ends.

Even if you start out as a vassal your ambition should always be to become an independent ruler yourself. And once that happens the council is just plain annoying. The ai just randomly changes policies and opposes actions for no good reason (they actually consider it tyrannical if I order the arrest of someone who was plotting to kill my heir). I actually found it quite easy to bring the council to heel, but even doing that isn't enjoyable.

  9. Conclave
    by Bebeto, Romania - Nov 26th 2016

To enjoy this DLC, one must get in the mindset of a medieval ruler who, though a soverign, is not a dictator and does not enjoy absolute power.

  10. An Interesting DLC
by Yuxuan Liu, USA - Oct 19th 2016

This dlc shows that Europeans lords were so restricted. Well, in the game you are restricted as well, which is both good and bad since you have to seek their permission or everything especially they don't like you^^

  11. Small council
    by hao12654, Taiwan - Sep 21st 2016

Powerful vassals are quite annoying if you are independent ruler, but more game content can play when you are a vassal.

  12. New rules
    by dorugradinaru, Romania - Aug 27th 2016

This dlc adds new powers for the councils, education for your child, the coalitions, alliances, and mercenary companies. This ixpansion is the best from ck2.

  13. Good one, remind me of the council in GoT
    by odyhunter, Ireland - Aug 25th 2016

The power of the council does take some getting used, but they can easily be managed through favors and diplomacy. After getting a hang of the new system, I think favors are one of my favorite features. also, it feels like GoT :D

  15. Very good
    by swiciu, Poland - Apr 5th 2016

Councillors are now definately important, do I add that powerful duke as my steward? or the talented jewish guy no one likes and who also hates me? But damn is he good... Laws are now actually interesting to change, though it makes playing a tyrant a little hard I guess you can try removing the councils powers first.
