Anna's Quest

Anna's Quest Badge
Anna's Quest unfolds a hand-drawn, grim tale with a good dash of self-irony.

Dragons, witches, trolls... No one can stop Anna. With her telekinesis, unorthodox use of torture instruments, a knack for improvisation and the help of a shady fox she just makes her way. She communes with the dead, shuts off the local taverns beer supply and gets old ladies behind bars...

The world of author Dane Krams' debut on the game development stage isn't as cuddly as it may seem. Anna however, is actually perfectly nice - or is she? It all starts with freeing talking teddy bear...

Anna's Quest unfolds a hand-drawn, grim tale with a good dash of self-irony.

  1. Another good Daedalic adventure
    by Theocharis M., Greece - Aug 4th 2018

Through the years i came to love Daedalic adventures and this one didn't change that fact. The story is casual(witch kidnaps girl, girl tries to escape and save the day) but interesting and the visuals and music are quality ones. Even the puzzles are more logically solved than the average Daedalic adventure. I would recommend it, especially if you are a fan of the adventure genre.

Don't let yourself get fooled by the look of the game. It's a nice point and click adventure, that will entertain you for some hours.

  5. Slow and wordy
    by NorthernSpruce, Canada - Jun 12th 2016

Heavy on long dialogues like many Daedalic games, this one is interesting at times but slow and not very intuitive. Many characters are quite likeable, but the game is not recommended.

  6. Loved the game =)

I really enjoyed this game and the story. I did have to refer to a walk through a few times to help me but otherwise I thought most of the puzzles were just right and it gave me hours of fun.

  7. Nice adventure
    by kaotia, Italy - Apr 15th 2016

Nice point & click adventure by Daedelic Entertainment about a little girl looking for a cure for her grandfather. The main protagonist is a little plain compared to other Daedelic'c adventures, but the secondary characters and the villain are very well done. Lots of Easter eggs and funny achievements, 6 chapters to play. It's not the best game made by this software house, but is still worth the purchase.

  8. Quaint And Engaging
by Cameron Armstrong, Australia - Feb 27th 2016

Anna's Quest is okay. It doesn't have the comedy or personality of the Deponia series in my opinion, but it's certainly a nice little story that starts to gain some depth by the final chapter. It definitely held my interest, but I'm a fan of these point-and-click adventure games. The telekinesis bit is a nice twist, too.

The visuals look quite cartoony, which I guess matches the style of the game, but are nothing too spectacular. Some games I occasionally find myself sitting back and enjoying the beauty and/or originality of the illustrations. Not this one. It's pretty much stock standard stuff.

Depending on how puzzle-adept you are, you're probably looking at a lifespan of maybe 5-8 hours of gameplay. I got stuck once, but most things are generally pretty logical. I finished the game in a weekend of sporadic playing (a couple of hours here and there over two days).

The voice of Anna was a little irritating to me, which is a pity because, as the main character, she has most of the dialogue. I also note some of the more unusual words in the game were mispronounced a lot depending on which actors were hired. For example "wyrd" was pronounced either like "word" or "weird". Not a big issue, but distracting.

All in all, Anna's Quest won't win the adventure game of the year award, but it definitely falls squarely within that nice safe mid-range area of quality. And that's ok by me. Because I bought it on discount.

  9. Worth it!
by Koka Kliora, USA - Nov 12th 2015

What a great game! Funny, well-animated, and detailed. For once, a game that lasts more than two hours. The only down side is that I needed to look up a walkthrough to get through some parts of the game.

  10. Really happy with this purchase!
    by LB_, Canada - Jul 10th 2015

I had a great time playing this adventure! I really enjoyed the puzzles and the story. Callenging but not impossible puzzles, and I felt quite clever once I had them solved. All pretty logical. Graphics and colours are great, if you are into the classic 2D games. Unfortunately, like other Daedalic games I found there was WAY too much dialogue and I get bored and want to click through it. Also, like other Daedalic main characters (Deponia) Anna's voice and do-gooder personality became too much to listen to. I had to mute the voice audio (happy I was able to to this, nice touch!) and just read the dialogue. Regardless, I would play again once I forget the story.
