Description

In Cro-Mag Rally you are a speed-hungry caveman named Brog who races through the Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages in primitive vehicles such as the Geode Cruiser, Bone Buggy, Logmobile, Trojan Horse, and many others . Brog has at his disposal an arsenal of primitive weaponry ranging from Bone Bombs to Chinese Bottle Rockets and Heat Seeking Homing Pigeons. In addition to single-player racing where one player races against the computer, there are also several different multi-player modes including Tag, Capture the Flag, and Survival. Two players can play on a single computer in split-screen mode, or up to 6 players can play over a network.

Cro-Mag Rally is an incredibly diverse and entertaining racing game, and there is nothing else like it for the Macintosh! The game is visually stunning, has incredibly fun driving physics, and is suitable for all ages.

I used to play this game on LAN when I was in junior high school. Good times.

I played the game quite a bit when it first came out, enough to know that with a fair amount of practice you can learn to handle the buggies quite well. In fact, I thought that was the whole point of the game; to enjoy the spin-pits, tumbles and bumps and hone your skills.

  3. Cro-Mag for Mac - No Good
by chris morrison, USA - Apr 28th 2009

This game is so good on the iPod Touch and soooooo awful on the Mac. No Joystick feature, steering with keybd is nearly impossible even in the simplistic mode. Obstacles block you entirely. Difficult to back away from them and it turns you circles at almost every turn. Not even worth the 99 cents I paid. This could be close to good with a little effort. But as is on the MAC it sucks!

  4. Good ol' Cro-Mag
    by Joseph, USA - Feb 28th 2009

Now here is a game that has shined for me time and time again. I searched long and hard for this game since the last time I had played it when I was in middle school. This game truly shines when the game is played over a network. Everybody has fun and the game has plenty of replay value.

When the game first came out ages ago it's graphics were considered amazing, however, for this day and age you would expect Pangea to come out with a Cro Mag Rally 2. The sounds can sometimes get annoying and the graphics are very outdated. I only purchased this game because I am an old fan and I have 2 other buddies that I play with.

I hope that someone at Pangea reads this and takes my following suggestions into consideration. If this game is to be ANYWHERE worth 20 bucks the following must be met: More sounds, Improved Graphics, Vehicle & Character Customization, More levels, Custom Level Creation and the ability to trade these custom characters, vehicles and levels over a network. I could go and mention the bug where if you drive at a wall at an angle for an extended period you tend to go through it. This makes multiplayer a real pain in the arse and of course can ruin a race if this is done accidentially.

To you, the buyer, you must be warned that this game is probably NOT worth 20 bucks in it's current state. It is old. It is fun. It has about 8 hours of game play for 1 player and countless hours of gameplay with friends.

  5. Cro-gag me badly
by Michael Woodward, USA - Feb 15th 2009

This game is not fun. Most vehicles handle badly, and there are plenty of places on every course that your vehicle gets stuck on. Frustrating, even after finishing the first few races.

I usually don't write reviews, but I picked up the Pangea sampler with this and Billy Frontier. Both are lousy games.
