Believe the hype

When I got an imac for the first time - it was just as this game was released. AS a point and click addict -my son read the reviews and bought me it to play on my new shiny mac.

I have to agree with all the other 5 star reviews - everything they said PLUS - I felt so emotionally engaged with these robots. They all had such personalities - which is an oxymoron I know - but few games engage me to th extent I actually felt a bit sad when it was finished. (Grim Fandango was another - and they were skeletons! :-).

Many good adventure games are lovely graphical, intellectual exercises - but this one has a soul - from the very beginning.

Sid Meier’s Civilization III: Complete
 –

great game

Great game, very good graphics and a lot of choice in who you want to be. Though the only draw back is that you can control each unit but you can form them into armies if they have enough skill. Patience is key in this game but thats the fun part. Each map is different each game is different. Besides if a game like this a strategy game could be finished in a day would that be any fun? You need to work to victory then you'll have a greater sense of accomplishment. Any you don't have to play all day just play an hour or 2.

Shooting Blocks 2

Great game but total waste of money. Completed game in an hour. I realise it was not expensive but did expect it to last longer.

Tomb Raider: Underworld
 –

excellent port

Apart from the hour download this game runs great on my mid 09 mbp 9400m 2.53ghz, I grew up on the first two Tomb Raiders and gave up when the franchise went in a new direction, I'm pleased to say that Underworld is the closest to the first two in many aspects, with more of an emphasis on exploration, platforming and puzzle solving with some combat thrown in. The graphics are amazing and I cant believe i missed out on playing this during its original release, the first level is almost an ode to The Wreck of the Maria Doira from Tomb Raider 2 with a vast ocean for you to explore with underwater caverns and a kraken. The lighting and atmosphere is the best of the franchise and controls are intuitive and surprisingly work well. The levels are vast and filled with treasures to find and the game does not hold your hand. I thought this one was going to be all about dungeon crawling but i've already explored the depths of the ocean, blown up a military patrol boat and am now traversing a mountainside. This game totally surprised me and now its difficult to put down. Id suggest anyone who is a fan of the originals to purchase this.

Jewel Legends - Tree of Life
 –

Rebuild the world of the Hods and restore the Tree of Life

I did. The Hods are happy. Me - not so much. I wanted to like this game but after only a few levels it just felt boring, tedious, wearisome, and repetitive.

I completed the game, buying a lot of power ups - especially the extra time. I usually like the challenge in Match 3 of beating the clock - it is simply an annoyance in this game. Besides, there is really no challenge since it is impossible to run out of money to buy power ups, and they are always available.

I got really tired of having to collect more pieces to finish the levels after the board was cleared - a feature that seemed so innovative during the demo.

Jewel Legends Tree of Life might be best as a go to game (unless you feel compelled to earn the "played for 2 hours straight" achievement) .

What I was most impressed with, and what probably inspired me to buy the game, was that it was in true HD wide screen - not just stretched. But lovely graphics were not enough to make this game fun.

Crusader Kings II

serious graphics issues

I would like to second the comment made by the previous reviewer, the graphics compatibility issues are significant, much work needs to be done to get the Mac version to the level of playability it needs to be at.

Nice and pleasantly distracting

I've wasted many hours on this and my kids love it. Never thought a public transport simulator would be so much fun. Great graphics and gameplay.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Excellent game!

I thoroughly enjoyed this classic. Gameplay is amazing, and the story great... And a major plot twist at the end which knocked my socks off.. ;)

Only had one minor problem with the game - My characters often became stuch after a combat, but a quick Google suggested to turn of the V-Sync option in Graphic Preferences, and that fixed the problem!

can't use game pad

I love this game & it runs smooth on my mid 2011 iMac 27". I have really one BIG complaint that there seems to be no support for any thing other than the keyboard & mouse for the mac version of the game. Come on!!! How stupid is this. Please make a patch.

graphics issues

I am running this well within the systems requirements on 10.6.8 and a Geforce 320. The game loads yet it appears the game has lingering compatibility issues. Icons, cities, map borders and such flash and flicker (graphical tears) so that it is essentially unplayable. Paradox recommends you contact the place of purchase. No word from Mac Game Store yet but would not recommend buying this until the graphical issues are resolved.

Atlantis: The New World
 –

I LOVED this game

I will be buying it for my MAC - but played it years ago on a PC. I am delighted to find this available for my iMAC at last intsead of using emulators.

It's is a pint and click classic from the glory days of point and click history - as the three Atlantis games were.

The storyline in this game - the graphics and the gameplay are perfection for me. The storyline makes sense - the gameplay is challenging without being impossible - and some new takes on the traditional 'maze' were very engaging. There is also one small - but surprising and pleasing effect when you play a game with a metal 'person' in a tower.

I won't spoil it - but it made me laugh out loud with delight.

The Atlantis games were the series that made me passionate about adventure gaming.

4 Elements II Collector's Edition
 –

More content than in the original

For anyone who remembers how tough the last 2 levels of 4 Elements 1 were (they took me months to beat!), this game was basically equally as easy. A few restarts, but no big deal.

This is a chaining M3. Wide screen. LION friendly. Timer is not optional.

Achievements - I missed some - like play a level where all moves chain 5 or more - uh huh, sure.

Bonus challenges - The game boards appear to be new with the same game play style as in the core game, but there is less time. I replayed and lost the very first one 3 times in a row and gave up - for today, maybe forever.

All in all, it is a sequel - how different was it going to be. The artwork and animations are quite charming and colorful. The addition of pipe and slider puzzles within the match 3 levels adds variety from the first game. More variety of puzzles in the chapter pages as well, but they are very, very simple. The FROG portions, simple as well.

I would say the core game is almost relaxing except for the fact that I really did not want to play boards over again, so I was stressed to finish them. The first game was addictive; if you had to replay a board it was with an "I'll get you this time" attitude. For me in 4 E 2, it was "please let me get through it this time."

I would still say, if you never played the first one, you might want to pick this one up. You will have fun with it. And, unlike the first one, it won't beat you up. I am quite confident you will finish it.
