Empress of the Deep: The Darkest Secret

very dissapointing!

Nice graphics. But That's about all the nice i've got on this game. not challanging, the mini games are no fun at all. the story is lame and with a frustrating end.

World War 2: Time of Wrath
 –

World War II: Time of Wrath

Version 1.61 was released in February, and it seems to have fixed the freezing bug reported earlier by others. At least I did not experience the bug, and I completed the ten-turn Poland scenario. This is a good addition to the small number of hexagon-based, my-turn your-turn games available for the Mac. All of the elements that WW II buffs look for are here: decisions requiring tradeoffs between upgrades, replacements, and technology; different types of land, sea, and air units; and supply, production and weather rules that must be factored into decision-making. There are tactical tricks to learn depending on terrain, weather, and types of units. The map can either be realistically rendered, or rendered in the colors and grid of a classic hexagon-based board game. The unit sprites are muddy but the optional NATO-style symbols are clear as a bell. The interface is not as user-friendly as the Slitherine/Freeverse release "Commander: Europe at War," but unlike CEAW the map in "Time of Wrath" does allow one to zoom very close in as well as to zoom way out. Naval warfare is abstracted; fleets are assigned to various types of missions and the computer resolves encounters depending on the types of enemy fleets, convoys, etc. that a player's fleet encounters. Fans of the genre will like "Time of Wrath" - assuming that the freezing bug that others experienced earlier really is a thing of the past.

Avernum 6
 –

Not very good ://

Good gameplay and storyline but bad graphics and the characters kind of teleport instead of walking, a real let down as the storyline is good. Maybe Avernum 7 will be better? Rated 3 stars on the basis that minor improvements would make a big difference

And Yet It Moves
 –

loved it

this game is/was awesome from the day I bought it I would definitely recommend the game to the 15 and up crowd. my reasoning is the game is not inappropriate or anything like that, just that the levels were a little difficult for my nephew, who is 11, to complete on his own.

It Freezes!

I love the Mystery Case Files Series, but Prime Suspects freezes my computer. I persist, but this afternoon it froze in the same place three times. Grrrrr...

The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom
 –

Great game...but does it force you to be online?

I was a beta tester for the PC version of the game, and thought it was a great extension of the Settlers series (which is great to have back on the Mac!) I didn't buy the PC version, because Ubisoft's DRM scheme forces you to be online to play. Enough of my "casual" game play is where that's not possible, that it was a deal-breaker.

The description of the game on the PC talks about the DRM measures used - but not here. Before I buy, it would be nice to know whether I need to be online to play... Macgamestore? This really is a great game, and it would be wonderful to be able to play on my laptop in an airplane.

Cute little game, but too easy to solve and certainly not worth $19.95

Great Solitaire Game

This is a challenging game. After I tried it, my friends checked it out and were hooked too. Software does have some glitches and you have to restart your computer to get it running.

Mystery Case Files: Prime Suspects

Fun... but keeps freezing

This is a cute H/O game and we were enjoying the whimsical characters... but this is the 3rd time that it's frozen my Mac to the point where I have to reboot. Completely detracts from the enjoyment to the point where I'm hesitant to play. Very frustrating. I would normally give it about 3.5 stars, but the glitch prevents me from assigning anything above a 2.

Ancient Quest of Saqqarah

One of the best

I just bought this game. Is very addictive. Lots and lots of levels. Not like a lot of games that has a few levels and then the game is over. This is well worth the price. loads of fun.

Jack Keane
 –

Don't Waste your Money

Don't get me wrong, I think this game could be fun but it has so many glitches, it's just frustrating. I played Vampyre Story and just loved it and when I did some googling I found that this game was recommended as a "If you liked that, you'll love this" type review. Keane is by and large far less quality than other games of it's kind however. I actually found myself trapped in a scene. I had to go back step to an earlier saved spot and start over from there because the game allowed me to collect items that I apparently was not yet supposed to have collected so I had to go back to an earlier spot before I collected them and go back through all those scenes so that the game would recognize the next steps. The characters talk and move slowly and repeat everything and it just takes way too long to do anything. I really want my money back!

What's wrong?

I think the game would be fine, but it gets stuck on the winged bat and I can't complete the search and move forward. I don't know what's wrong.

A sleeper thats a hit.

Once in awhile, a game slips in without much fanfare, however it deserves a lot. This is a fun treat of a game with fluid side scroller action and interesting physics puzzles to solve. You solve them with your 'ship', which you can configure/reconfigure with various bits and pieces. Pretty neat concept.

Graphics are wonderful, 3d with a style of cartoon. Splendid physics use. Audio is pretty good, however some of the more robust "BOOMS" from some objects, are clipped. Not too bad unless you have it blaring out of a nice speaker system.

Overall, this game is fun to play, makes you think about actions to take, and requires a little personal skill with maneuvering a ship around with multiple thrusters (all of which can be assigned to whatever key you want at that time!).

Hordes of Orcs
 –

Entertaining

Lots of modes of gameplay, lots of different tower/catapult types to build to kill all kinds of orcs. Fun mini games. Not a big fan of high costs for the mac game arcade games, because they can disappoint. But this was worth it. Fun in many ways
