Dam Beavers
 –

Nothing Special

I always like word games to pass the time, so I gave this one a try. You have to spell words from the letters available and score enough points to destroy the beaver dams. Bigger words, or rarer letters earn you more points and get you closer to beating each level.

Gameplay
The gameplay is smooth and easy to learn, but there is no depth to this game at all. You just keep spelling words and it gets harder as you go along. It wasn't really that hard though. This game was easy to learn and moved quickly because there is nothing here. I thought that the levels would get more interesting as I advanced, but they did not. The "original power ups" touted in the description were really pretty lame.

Graphics and Sound
The graphics were cartoon like, and there was nothing wrong with them. There was nothing special either. It was pretty basic and I didn't even notice any of the "rich music and sound".

Bottom Line
Do not waste your money or your time with this game. I quit after 23 minutes of my 60 minute demo and deleted it. There are free games out there like Text Twist or Bookworm on Yahoo games that are just as good. This game is VERY similar to Bookworm.

The ONLY reason this game got two stars instead of one is that it worked properly and ran smoothly. Not being functionally defective is the best thing I can say about this game.

Wall•E
 –

Bad

To begin with, the controls are awful. Just awful.

The gameplay is way too dumb but it's made challenging by the awful controls.

The graphics are just WALL-E Textures pasted onto squares, and the cinematic sequences are over compressed.

It's a horrible game for gamers, but it might pass okay with the kids.

Women's Murder Club: Death In Scarlet
 –

Too short

I felt that it's a bit of a waste of money. It didn't take me long to get through it, whereas other games last an awful lot longer and seem better value. This was just starting to get going and then its finished.

The graphics are great and the puzzles too, but I could have just done with the demo hour as a couple of hours later I've completed it...

I'm not satisfied with this one.

Great Questions

This game has some wonderful questions, in a variety of categories.

Like all of these games, the inane comments and repetitive music soon get irritating, but the gameplay is worth it.

Good Title for a Good Game

Just tried it out and will purchase it. I need to think the different components through, and not being a police person this can be a challenge. It looks easy on TV and in Movies, but this is the player needing to do all the mental and detective work. I really am enjoying this one.

Penumbra: Overture
 –

Objects half visible

Making the objects half visible makes the game more thrilling, it makes you think. What's the sense to glow the object and make it very obvious that that's the one you need, did you used your brain. This game is more like puzzle/mystery solving. Sneaking than attacking. Focused on the story. We should be thankful that someone has created a game like this for Mac. Use intel and nvidia graphic card for this to look good. I use intel x3100(not a good vid card),but it just looks the way it is. No dropped frames even on full resolution.

This game was originally on windows so I dont think it will look good on PPC.

Penumbra Black Plague
 –

BGM makes it scary, gameplay is great.

The graphics may not be the best but it is not bad. The gameplay is amazing, you can interact with almost anything around you. I would say this is one of the scariest game I ever played. At first it made me uninstall this. why? I'm too scared to continue and see the icon hangin on my finder and my dock. The sounds are amazingly scary, the sounds are also the hint when your near danger or if somethings up.

This is a puzzle/mystery/adventure game, it's focused more on story and puzzles. This is dark and horrifying. I couldn't even continue because I'm too scared for this kind of game, I just couldn't stand it.

These are great on Mac. I tried this on my intel macbook, and set the game resolution to 1280X800 (macbook full resolution), and it played smoothly, no dropped frames.

I don't know how will it look like on PPC. Some people were complaining about Penumbra: Overture about the bad graphics on their Mac, maybe their using PPC thats why.

Gawd! This game sucks!!!!

Tried the demo. Extremely frustrating. Worse gameplay could not be imagined. Really.

Playing this miserable excuse for a game is like staring at an oil painting. Even with the walkthrough, I spent my free 60 minutes just trying to make it out of the first room. Never made it. Mash the coin (intuitive!) and remove the vent. Nope. The game is too clumsy.

Perhaps this says something about me, but I've removed this from my system permanently after wasting almost an hour. Myst fans may like it, but I doubt it.

If you enjoy watching paint dry, grab this-it'll be exciting. If not, take a pass. Even at 20 bucks, it's a complete waste, in my opinion.

Great Buy!

This was a great buy for me! I love playing Monopoly but I never have time for the endless game. This way I can sit down for an hour and play then save my game! Also if you want Monopoly a step up then you should try this sites, Monopoly Here & Now it is in the present time and the money is in the millions, you can even own Fenway Park! I hope I helped future Monopoly players!

Alien Abduction
 –

OLD

This games doesn't need to be on this site. I have downloaded loads of games from here and loved each one. This game looks like it was programed in the early 80. The graphics are very low quality. When you play full screen the graphics become very grainy. The controls are way out-dated. You can't even used the mouse or track pad!!! Not recommended.

Blitzkrieg
 –

Superb Tactical Game

Unlike the previous reviewer, I haven't had any problems with the game on my iMac. Plus and Minus buttons speed up or slow down the game, and it can be paused with the space bar. Note, you can pause the game and give units multiple orders to do in sequence.

This game is the most realistic simulation of WWII armor and infantry tactics I have ever come across. Superb.

It makes intelligence gathering supreme and punishes you for calvary charges with tanks or troops. Just like real battles. It has hundreds of tactical options in each battle and also lowers your performance rating for reloading saved games. Brilliant.

Finally, this game made by a Russian company plays no national favorites. For once, no "good guys." You can be the Germans, Anglos or Russians in the same theaters and see the difficulties each side faced. Thoughtful.

My only problem is that once you play a campaign, you can't go back to individual chapters or scenarios. And though there is a custom scenario load feature, I haven't found where to get any.

Still, one of the best war games I have ever seen: riveting, challenging and educational.

Hoyle Card Games

When in play the first game is always the same, when the screen comes up, same characters, same cards, know exactly who will win game. Need more variety. Very boring.

Ancient Hearts and Spades

Helped me relearn these 2 card games

I hadn't played either game in about 30 years and this was just what I needed to refresh my memory. There are serious glitches though. Sometimes the same card you get from the player on your right is the one that you've just passed to the player to your left.

The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes

Overall loads of fun for the Holmes

I think that overall it's a great game and the story line is great. I like the fact that there are 16 different cases to solve and they range as to how difficult they are.

Agatha Christie: Peril at End House

really wish it could have been longer.

This is the first Agatha Christie game that I have played and after going through it I think that it really could have been longer. I like the fact that there is a story line and that the puzzles actually fit the storyline. That's a big plus.

The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes
 –

loads of fun!

I don't need to tell you too much about the game as the previous reviewers have done so. May I just state that as a player of hidden objects games, it is getting harder and harder to find one worth playing. Lets face it, they are very similar. This game was one of those few that is unique enough to keep your interest. I wish there were more H/O that could do that & am already in search of another one.
