Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack

Monkey Island

This game is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I was sad to reach the end of the game.

My Life Story
 –

good idea, good beginning, then yawnsville

My life story is a great idea - using time-based strategy to build up your character after graduating from high school. The graphics are cute, the music is tolerable, and the gameplay fairly slick.

Trouble is, about halfway through the game my character had enough money so that there was nothing left to struggle about, except gaining enough experience to finish the game. That was maybe 2 hours of fun, challenging stuff, followed by 2 hours of random mouse clicking and "is it over yet?"

Is it worth it to buy a game that's a good idea and half good? I feel a little cheated, but not a lot.

Heroes of Might & Magic V
 –

great for its time, now out of date

I had wanted to buy this game for years, but it was just too much money. I finally caved in and bought Heroes V because macgamestore discounted the price 50%.

I can see why Heroes V was revolutionary when it came out for the PC - in 2006. I can see how many titles have duplicated Heroes V functionality - strategy, planning battles, building up your cities.

I played the game faithfully for a week. But there is a lot of repetition (same battles, same walks through land) and I found it kind of boring.

So if you want to see one of gaming's strategy pioneers, buy this game. But don't expect it to knock your socks off.

Warblade
 –

Great gameplay, too short

This game is beautiful. The interface was confusing for me - there are a lot of customizable settings. Make sure you have the visible stars turned all the way up, the background is really nice.

What I've never liked about galaga-type shooters is that they are hard and boring. Warblade solves this by letting you buy upgrades and having 20 or so power-ups available inside each level.

There are 100 levels of gameplay, and you have 5 save slots so you can return to a game in progress. On the easiest setting, I was able to complete the game in 3 hours.

Babylonia
 –

beautiful graphics

Classic match three with the twist that you restore Babylon and its gardens. You match very pretty, gem-like flowers, and when you've finished a level they spin around in a beautiful burst of color and light. You select the flowers and trees to plant in your garden, then tend them as you play. Could have used even more levels, although they do give you bonus levels at the end so you can continue to play. Visually very appealing - delights the eye!

Mystery Case Files: Huntsville

Mystery Case Files: Prime Suspects

froze my snow leopard numerous times

annoying to have to reboot, then redo completed puzzles - really detracts from an otherwise fun game.

Plan It Green
 –

Fun for a few hours, then not at all

Replayability is very low on this game, which is really more of a time management game than a strategy game. Free play mode has absolutely no point at all, so once you finish the storyline once the game is done. I think the price point is a little high on this one, but it could be useful for a computer lab lesson plan in a K-12 school.

Democracy 2
 –

Not what I had hoped

As leader of your own country, you have to solve some problems with limited resources, while not angering any powerful special interests. I like the interdependence of some of the game's variables, but the fun factor is pretty low even for someone who likes politics.

The Palace Builder
 –

Fun for what it's worth.

Your the lead landscaping and building planner in this game, you decide where you what to put each structure and then place your little workers where they need to go in order to plant the gardens, build the structures and sculpt the statues before time runs out. Your funds are also limited and each building, garden or structure you create costs money and only brings in a certain amount of income each month, so you have to plan accordingly in order to satisfy your clients.

Overall, it's a fun, fairly simple game and what you'd expect for $9.99. I zipped through it in a couple of evenings and enjoyed the Shakespearean side plot of the girl who must pretend to be a boy in order to follow her professional dreams amid the snooty royalty, jealous rivalry and rigid expectations of the 18th century.

Ancient Quest of Saqqarah
 –

Interesting twist on the usual match 3

I found the game a challenge, and enjoyable overall. The one drawback, for me, was that Khufu's voiceover suggestions got old rather quickly and the only way to turn them off was to turn off the sound effects.

Hidden Expedition: Devil's Triangle
 –

nice, very nice.

Hidden objects were not only in the hidden object scenes, but through the whole game.

Very nice graphics and story. Convenient way of going from scene to scene.

No repeats but every new level new, beautiful graphics.
Funny and challenging puzzles. I needed help a few times, but it wasn't too hard either.

Fun, mad with good taste and worth every dime.

Extremely good shooter comes to Mac

This is a excellent shooter. If you remember Deluxe Galaga for the Amiga this is a direct descendant, it is just "renamed" :-) Highly recommended in every aspect :-)

Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack

A very good game

Despite some minor game bugs the game is worth the money it costs as it offers a lot of fun. It's a very original game and it offers an unique perspective in click-adventures, that of Guybrush Threepwood and company.

The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom
 –

Great Game!

I purchased the game 3 days ago and have played 6 maps so far. It is awesome! This is the first version of The Settlers I buy, but as a strategy games lover I can say this is a great choice if you want have a good economy, army and technology mix.

About the DRM not a problem at all. I read a lot of reviews that complain about it, however I haven't had any problems so far. It's true... you can't play while you're offline and it could be much better without the DRM. But if you have access to any Internet connection you'll be just fine, mine is DSL and works good.

The game itself is great! don't hesitate to buy it!

Amusing and different

If you like a game with many "spot the differences", you will like this. Too many for me, but I did enjoy the underwater theme, and goofy story.

The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom
 –

The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom

Great game... when it works, which is where the problem comes in. For the first week I couldn't play it all, it simply would not connect to the server, and without a constant internet connection... TO THE SERVER, the game will simply exit. That issue appeared to have cleared its-self up, now after playing 4 levels of the campaign, all I get is a message saying Server Error: Failed to load Map - the game then has to be force quit as all that is available is a black screen and a cursor. When it does work, it is amazing. Great graphics, good sound, classic Settlers play with lots of options. HOWEVER, as it doesn't work for single player campaign anywhere close to reliably (it has been 5 days now and I still get the Map Failed to load and black screen of death... I will have to say give this one a miss until UBISoft works out some of it's server issues. When it does, then go for it you won't be disappointed, until then, give this one a miss. You will only end up being frustrated and feeling ripped off at not being able to play the game you payed for.

terrific and absorbing

This is a game that will make your brain happy! The peaceful, gentle music, lovely atmosphere and the challenge of these puzzles make time pass unnoticed. Well worth your time and money.
