Unity of Command
 –

Armchair Generals will love this...

Bought this plus all the DLC in one of the sales just thinking I'll give it a go, cheap game and all that. Can't put it down! It looks quite simplistic as turn-based games go but the devil is in the detail. I see that other reviewers on this site keep trying to compare it to other past games they have played or seem to want this game to be like, but I have taken the attitude that it is what it is.

It's really easy to get into and the more I played the more depth there was, easy to learn hard to master! The people behind this game obviously know their World War II history as all the units and battles seem to be present and correct. Think of this as chess with a lot more moves...

Another Pleasant Time Waster

Here's another casual game from RokaPublish. In this one, geometric shapes encroach on your ship and you need to shoot other geometric shapes at them. Match 3 and they go away.

You gain a few abilities as you advance and for each set you match you build up energy. Once your energy has reached a certain level, you can use one of the abilities.

The abilities range from turning several of the shapes in front of you to the same color, to make the entire board go away and automatically win the level. I tried not to use that last one, but I ran into 3 or 4 levels that I just couldn't solve so I stored up the energy and blew them all away. Many of the levels are easy and can be solved in a minute or two.

Helpful hint: Your stored energy carries over from level to level. If you're stuck on a level and don't have enough energy to use an ability, go back a couple of levels and play through some easy ones. Once your energy is up to the "Warp" level, start the level you're stuck on and warp past it.

Dragon Age 2
 –

A pacifier until Witcher 3 Arrives.

We've got story, character deign that's poor but not distractingly so, and elements of RTS, hack 'n slash, and turn based combat. A solid way to winnow away the days after the top shelf games have been exhausted.

Diablo III
 –

Alot of Fun... not my thing, but still, fun!

Ok, TEDIOUS travel and environment interaction is the worst of it, from there it only goes up. The hack 'n slash combat is a BLAST, and the looting is very satisfying. Here's where I get confused: inventory and items. It seems like a really cool system, capable of great complexity, however, the games looting generosity continuously adds to the choices one must make regarding their inventory. In short, for this player, it just taking some getting used to. In all, a very playable game. I can see why the franchise has such high critical and popular acclaim.

Game on!

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode 1
 –

Back to Rapture

A film noir return to Rapture before it's downfall. In this claustrophobic underwater complex you must use the geography of the rooms to your advantage. The DLC makes the most of the new features from 'Bioshock infinite' like the skyline and grapple and a more strategic use of the elements in the familiar environment filled with turrets and secrets. As usual, great storyline and dialogue. MP would have been most welcome!

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode 2
 –

The end of the Beginning

This DLC ties up the Prequel with the original Bioshock. You actually play as a stealthy Elizabeth this time with the brand new dart crossbow which allows you to go through the game without actually killing any of the Splicers (1998 mode). The Mood and cutscenes are far out, and although we learn little about the fate of Booker De Witt, the revelations about Rapture make up for it in this tragic and melancholic game.

Unity of Command
 –

Good WWII strategy game

As Unity of Command lacks persistent units that gain experience and abilities as you play through a campaign, Panzer General it is not. However, it is a good division level take on the war in Russia from '42-'43; using mostly predeployed units [you can purchase some units with prestige earned by achieving victory conditions] you attack at weak points in the enemy line and attempt to encircle and destroy the enemy while advancing to key cities/strategic locations. The graphics & sounds are good and gameplay is quite strong: the AI is pretty tough and the movement of units, combat dynamics/combat resolution and victory conditions seem to be relatively realistic and historically authentic. The old Atari Eastern Front (1941) by Chris Crawford seems like the inspiration for this one; if you enjoyed that back in the day or are looking for a solid if fairly simple WWII strategic challenge, give Unity of Command a try.

Trainz Simulator 2
 –

Great train simulator

Graphics, sound & controls make Trainz Simulator 2 a great sim for train freaks. I've already spent about 5 hours playing the training tutorials ; ) and just exploring different trains and locales/routes. I think TS 2 is a lot of fun: there's a ton of hours of playability/replayability and lots and lots of downloadable content for $ and for free [there's a large Trainz user/fan base that generates a good deal of content to share for free!!!]. However, TS 2 is NOT a game as such, and it is NOT anything like Sid Meier's Railroads or Railroad Tycoon or even A-Train for that matter; it is a simulator that allows you to drive detailed models of classic vintage and modern trains and provides the means for you to create and run your own layouts/routes/locales. If you're the type who loves trains and want a good sim, give Trainz Simulator 2 a try!

Rome: Total War™ - Alexander
 –

Alexander expansion pack to Rome Total War

Eversince I bought this and installed it my RTW control settings went bonkers.I could not save the game after a battle has been won on the battle map.It only saves after a battle is fought automatically or has been lost.I just want my old point and click settings.Playing this now is like using a computer with the old MS-DOS rather than the modern point and click system. It feels not like a Mac OS is installed in my computer whenever I play this game.I will gladly return a few bonus points just to get the old version of RTW that runs smoothly.

Call of Duty Deluxe Edition
 –

Tragically lazy work!

The game is a classic! BUT why doesn´t the developer or whoever controls the game, get off their lazy butts and adapt it to the newest Mac OS??

My recommendeation is do not buy this game unless they do their job and change it. Because this is just bad work.

Secrets of the Dark: Mystery of the Ancestral Estate
 –

Too much running around !

This could have been a great long game but there is too much running around. You really have to keep a list of where you need certain things & this gets to be bothersome as the game progresses... Otherwise good combination of search & find + puzzles.

Great time management game

This is a good time management game. Shame you can't queue your tasks. Every level new things are added which is very nice. You really have to figure out how to arrange your tasks.

Very good entertaining game, but too short for price !

Very entertaining game, would give it 4 stars if it lasted a bit longer. Never boring, good flow but was surprised when it was already finished. Expected a bit more gameplay for the price.
