Best kind of game

This takes a well-loved game type - anyone else remember Snood? - and gives it a unique twist: the combination of the game area, power-ups and unique challenges make it an outstanding game of its type. Graphics, controls, and overall gameplay are spot on, and don't be put off by the pretty flowers: this is a pretty hardcore game, and you need to get your strategy spot on.
It's also extremely addictive.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Ultimate Edition
 –

Awesome game

This is one of a kind. The imersion in the story and the world is extreme. The graphics are beautifull and reminds me a lot of blade runner or other complex cyberpunk worlds. Also it is really enjoyable to upgrade your character to suit your gameplay. The AI of the ennemies is really good. Not always easy but addictive, beautifull and fun.

The Orange Box
 –

Really good bundle for the price

Altough some games look a bit old compared to others. What you get for your price is worth it.

Portal is still an OVNI in the world of gaming.

Team fortress is great although i'm not that found of cooperative game.

Half life 2 is still a reference

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World
 –

The DLC that was required

At last a DLC that gives some actions for the non violent. Until now it was really a matter of wining by military or science. The two other victoriens weren't that interesting. Here with the worlfd congress and the tourism you can influence the game and still be active in the later phases of the game.

Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition

Great Game - wait for a sale

I have a mac air Intel HD 5000 with 8GB system ram, 1.7GHz (turbo boosting up to 2.7). It is playable on low settings. Some frame rate issues on higher settings. Many hours of game time and variety of guns and characters.

Sid Meier's Civilization V: The Complete Edition
 –

Almost too addicting...

So good. Love the variety with each ruler. Great customisation in options for each game. Excellent tutorials for new players such as myself. Decent introductory voice-over of the history at the start of each game.

7 Wonders: Ancient Alien Makeover Collector's Edition
 –

Alright...

I got this game for free when I updated macgamestore app. Plays like any other match 3 game (e.g. candy crush, bejewelled.) Perhaps a bit childish for me... but I can see the appeal for younger gamers, maybe 5-10

Battlestations: Midway
 –

Nice try in simulation

Well, this game really tries to simulate the complex World War II warfare. As far as games go, the game seems to find the balance between simulation and playabillity.
Sometimes the controls are rather strange, but one can get used to it.

Anyway, this game is good, but you have to give it a bit of time to get used to the controls. Be prepared to replay some of the missions over and over again.

BioShock 2
 –

Finally a BIG daddy!

Even though this game is rather similar to the first Bioshock, it still is great and fun to play. The story, again, plays out in the underwater city of rapture where uncontrolled DNA experimantation has turned most people into insane mutants.

For the first time you play as a Big Daddy to save the little girls that are being used to harvest 'adam'.

Anyway if you want to know more of the incredible story, play for yourself.

DOOM 3
 –

The Beginning

Or in other words: The first game that successfully used bump mapping and displacement textures.

This game is a beautiful and scary shooter that really everyone should have played at least once in their life.

Endless Legend Emperor Pack
 –

Wow, just wow!

Really this game has it all:

- Civilization-like settling and city building.
- Tactical combat.
- Research that actually is vital to your civilization.
- Army equipment editor.
- Diplomacy (even though that feature is maybe the weakest point in this game)
- Quests
- Extremely different playing factions.
- Science-Fantasy setting that gets a lot of its lore from the world of Endless Space.

Together Endless Legend is one of those games that anyone who has interest in roundbased strategy should buy and play.

Tasty Planet - Back for Seconds
 –

Tastes like vertigo

What can I say about this game?

You play a strange little blob that eats and eats and eats and eats and eats.

While the blob it eating he grows and grows and grows and grows and grows.

This doesn´t sound like much but is in fact fun and sometimes really difficult (because you have a time limit on each of the levels). A waring though: I know someone who got vertigo from playing this fast paced game.

The Walking Dead
 –

Good as movie, simple as game

The art and cinematics of this game are superb, but it remains at that. It is an interactive movie (or TV series) that stops at certain points and you have to do something to continue. Anyone remember Dragon's Lair (I am old enough to remember)?. It looks similar at times, except that this is easier (because you get clues on what to grab, where to go, etc.)! Theoretically, your decisions affect the development of the story, but that's not true: they only affect a tiny part of the story, which once passed, returns to you to the same point. And what about the story in itself? Well, it's just to excessively over-dramatic: you have to kill children, relatives, watch suicides (all for the supreme benefit of survival, of course!). Playing this game I remebered when I was young and went to see some horror movie: people in the theater (specially girls) shouted at the characters: "Grab the hammer!", "Smash the window!", "Run!. This game is at points something like that. And it offers no challenge: I can't imagine anyone not finishing this game in a few hours. So that's my verdict: an uninteresting game that's a tecnicallly good movie, perhaps suitable for movie making students and so. But we're talking about games, no?
