Defense Grid
 –

Finally something MacInteresting!

I have trashed more more mac games the past few years-especially those stupid hidden object games (b-o-r-i-n-g). But this game is a challenge. I also love the British Robotic Assistant which gives helpful comments. I too wish for a Defense Grid 2. This game is definitely one to keep you up at night.

Warblade
 –

A game to come back to!

I've enjoyed Warblade for years. I am anxiously waiting for Warblade II which I hope will be out for Christmas 2012(?) When you wade through so many mediocre games, it's nice to find one that is always fun and a challenge. My thanks to Edgar Vigdal in Norway for his dedication in developing Warblade !

Sid Meier's Civilization V: Game of the Year Edition
 –

Steam comes from an old locomotive-not in a game!

First, I have had to make a decision I will not purchase future Civ games until they dump that inane "Steam" concept. It never loads correctly or even recognizes half of the ancillary item I purchased. What is wrong with simply purchasing a game and then opening it for play. But, no, first you must load this new interface totally not mac-friendly. The idiot who thought this up should have been sent to Quickbooks-another junk software for the mac.

Harvest: Massive Encounter
 –

A great game in many ways.

I have had this game for several years. I still play it, when I have the time as the challenge of finding a better strategy never wanes. My only negative is why the makers never came out with upgrades. I'm sorry more folks have not tried this game, but as one of the other reviewers learned, it is can use much memory. I have a G5 Intel Xenon with 6 GB of memory. However, when I purchased this 3 years ago, I had a standard G4 and it still worked just great since I had about over 20 GB of Ram. I don't believe this game requires massive VRAM, but other games like Quake do. If you are purchasing a new MAC get the most VRAM you can afford. I have 1024 MB in the ATI Radeon HD5870.

Above all, I suggest you give this little game a try-if you like to try out new strategies and tactics, especially on the 10 wave mode which is my favorite.

Steel Storm: Burning Retribution
 –

innovative and loads of fun

I find myself playing this most every night for an hour or more to unwind. Unlike other shooters, you can edit this game extensively making it extremely challenging or removing any item you may not wish to use. I've actually created new levels since the makers thoughtfully left many levels with empty sections you can fill with various types of the adversaries-and their are many.
I believe there is a second version in the works-I am most excited about this. This is one game I've not been disappointed with!! My thanks to the makers of this game!
Respectfully, Dr.K

Rail Cargo Simulator
 –

Es kommt aus Deutschland!-

No doubt this was planned as a secret weapon just before the war ended. It was a bid to get die Amerikaner to switch sides. However, they forgot that even the 2 years I took in High School was only good for saying "get your hands up" or "don't shoot" :)

Swarm Gold

One of the better shoot'em ups!

I really enjoyed this game and it has worked on all my Macs from the G4 to G5, and now the big intel G5 I just purchased / I don't play it all the time, but I find myself going back to the game every few months.

Sid Meier's Civilization V
 –

Either time for Sid to go back to school, or Fame has gone to his head!

I search for a word to describe Civ V: disappointing? Not strong enough. A total let-down-perhaps a bit too strong. I certainly did not like the idea that gamers could no longer edit their maps or create new ones. Unless I totally misread the game, I was totally turned off by this feature. I also did not like having a "gang" of settlers (or anything else for that matter) popping up when I only created "one" (so I thought). I thought that issue had been dealt with a few versions ago. I think a potential gamer should take time to view the "game trailer" in that the programmers failed to follow even their own parameters. Namely, "too much talk- and not enough good 'ole Civ action we came to trust Sid Meier for, yet perhaps that the problem. I think he sold out to WallMart and all we got was a few "blue-light" specials!

Right now, the best game for Mac's is still Quake IV, and that's not even related to the basic guidelines of CIv V, but it sure could take some hints.

Heroes of Might & Magic V
 –

far too expensive for a dated game

especially since macs can't use 3rd party maps. Best alternative purchase for Mac gamers? Quake 4.

Sid Meier's Civilization V

What a disappointment. Don't waste your money.

I have every Civ game, but when I received this a week ago, I was at first disappointed that you can't alter maps, you can't even edit your maps or create your own. For me, that was one of the best variants of this game: to give a gamer the ability to alter terrain and even change the colours of the participating nations. I will never again purchase another Civ game. I also did not enjoy the programmers returning to using 20 or so settlers or soldiers when only one is created. I could not find any options to turn this option off; it was tried in one of the other civ games and I did not like it then and I don't appreciate it now.

If the programmers had only given the gamer the same editing qualities, I would have rated this game at least one more star. As for me, I'm back on Civ 4 again. The final assessment is that the gamers failed to finish the game and in not doing so, completely ruined the Civ interface Mac gamers have expected from the Civ games. Shame on you!

Alchemy Deluxe
 –

Alchemy Yawn Time

So many of the new games have barely enough to keep me awake. Repetitive tasks done over and over again, I found nothing challenging about this game. At least with the new game "Runes of Avalon 2, there was a bit more to get on about. I would rate that game much better than this. I'm sorry I could not, in good conscience, rate this higher but hey, Truth is truth. Perhaps some folks will find it more to their taste but as for me, give me lib... (whoops, sorry, wrong venue !
