The Sims 3 Seasons
 –

Fun and Irritating

Some of the most beautiful effects in the game series are in this expansion. Fog, rain, snow, hail, leaves turning in the autumn. Fun effects. Rain can be a nuisance though, and the umbrella effect is so-so at best. And rain in summer in Desert Palms?!? Hmm...

Making snow men or igloos with friends or family is great! As is watching foliage change. The temperature and weather effect randomizer is a bit wonky when mid summer is 42 chilly degrees, and it may be in the 70's and snowing a few weeks later.

Still, it is fun eye candy!!

The Sims 3 Island Paradise
 –

Everything and the kitchen sink!

This expansion adds so much neat stuff to the game! Swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving. Mermaids?! Oh my! House boats which will be usable in some other game cities. Neat boats for motor heads!

It is hard for me to choose favorite parts, but this is my favorite expansion!

Avernum: Escape From the Pit
 –

Dated but fun

The Avernum Adventures were part of the first wave of two and a half dimension games. It gave us better graphics the the side scrollers and such and an immense world to adventure in. Even after over a decade, I can still find new puzzles and battles and such as I wander the world. And the world is vast! Even with boats and pylons, travel is a chore. I'm glad they have kept them up-to-date to run with current OS's. Several old friends haven't been upgraded since the days of System 8, and my old clamshell Mac died, so they died with it!

A challenging mix of puzzle and slash and smash. More game and story than modern games!!

Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth
 –

Okay spacey version of Civilization V

Better graphics than Alpha Centauri (1995?) but not a lot of change in game play. You can fight with the aliens on your new world, or with other colonists, or both. It really needs the Rising Tides expansion to make it worthwhile..

My biggest gripe is that whatever world you settle on, the alien biosphere is identical. Life out there should show some diversity. Instead, we have worlds of monsters and one world of humans. Maybe we aren''t the chosen folk?

The Sims 4 Get Together
 –

Love and Hate

I love Sims 4 - marvelous game with complexities that were missing in 3. Unfortunately, it requires Origins to run and Origins won't run or allow the game to load. That is as of an upgrade patch about 6 weeks ago.

So Sims 4 is awesome if it would run. Origins sucks and won't let the game run!

Update: Got an Origins upgrade followed by a Sims 4 upgrade. Mods still seem to bug the game, but it is running again! And I am a happy camper for now!

The Sims 3 World Adventures Expansion Pack
 –

Great Expansion

I think this is probably the best expansion for Sims 3. Nice vacations, new adventures and people. Potential vacation homes. And, of course, mummies!

The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff
 –

Fast cars and more

The run of the mill Sims autos are boring. This adds hot sports and luxury cars as well as vintage vehicles. I love the old pickup truck! Of course, I drive one in RL!
