Stellaris: Apocalypse
 –

Planet killer

More Stellaris, just souped-up and on some serious steroids. Adds new possibilities to what is already the best Civ in Space game.

Hearts of Iron IV: Waking the Tiger
 –

The new Far East

Japan and China are biggest benefactors of this DLC, which is nice because China rarely gets much representation or respect in WWII games.

Hearts of Iron IV: Together for Victory
 –

Fleshing out

Not essential, but good to have if you plan on sinking a few hundred hours into Hoi4.

Surviving Mars - First Colony Edition
 –

Well balanced on harder difficulties

It's Mars, it's colonizers, it's catastrophes (at times) ... all it is missing is the DOOM marine! Loads of fun and being a Paradox title it will be well supported for much time to come.

Stellaris: Plantoids Species Pack
 –

Fun cosmetic DLC

But really not essential to enjoy the game. If you can get it on sale it is fun to play with, but arguably worth the full price.

Endless Legend - Shifters
 –

Adds some depth

Worth picking up if you really enjoy Endless Legend, but not essential to enjoy the game.

Tyranny - Standard Edition
 –

Best RPG this year

Fantastic game with great depth and reams of dialogue; it feels like an honest choose-your-own adventure game set in a great world and story. Certainly the best RPG I've played this year.

Militia
 –

Excellent tactics game

For a very simple ruleset and equally simple boards, this game is a delight akin to chess with fewer moves and quicker play. The ladder method of "moving up" rewards each victory as hard-earned and makes losses truly hurt; highly recommended.

Endless Space - Emperor Edition
 –

Fun but tedious

Takes a l-o-n-g time to get into, but once you do it does have a good arc to gameplay.

Civil War: 1862
 –

Fun hex boardgame

It can be surprisingly tough, but is generally fair and is pretty engaging for its limited look and moveset. It may not gain repeat players, but is a very solid title.

Bionic Dues
 –

Unique strategic rogue-lite

More fun than it looks, and far more than the sum of its parts. You can sink more playtime into it than you would think!

Tropico 5 – Complete Collection
 –

Full set but not really necessary

The DLC is okay, but really doesn't add much to the game that you must play. Still, considering it is often for sale as the same price of just the base game it is worth it for the right price.

Victoria II: Heart of Darkness
 –

Full version with ALL dlc from Victoria 2

If you want to play Victoria 2, get this version. It includes all the DLC and the base game in it as a complete collection. Highly recommended!

Crusader Kings II
 –

Awesome kingdom-builder

Not simply a great game, one of the most complete and awesome games of all time. Some of the DLC is just alright, but when added all up they bring a wealth of new experiences to the game. This is a great way to start right here, though.

The Tiny Bang Story
 –

Incompatible with latest OS

Can't play ... because there is no compatibility with the latest OS for Mac. : (

Ancient Battle: Rome
 –

Tough, but fair

Another hex/board game strategy title that is very difficult but fun (when you win). Easy to learn but will stretch your tactical mind to the fullest.

Anomaly Warzone Earth
 –

Tower defense reversed

A pretty fun and challenging reversal of tower defense, but it is brought down by the rather repetitive nature of what you are doing and the irritation of having to use your leader to do everything in real time.

Kerbal Space Program
 –

Tough but fair

As a physics title it is outstanding. As an engineering title it is outstanding. And as a management sim it is outstanding. But what is most outstanding is how these independent pieces unite to make a truly compelling and human game. Reach for the moon, and you may just discover a lot about yourself.

Endless Legend Classic Pack
 –

Challenger to Civ

Great game and the expansions really add a lot to it. It is almost as good as the Civilization series!

FlatOut 2
 –

Awesome destruction

Just as good today as it was 10 years ago ... if you don't like racing you can still play this game, as you can just wreck and destroy your way to victory. Only caveat: I could not get my Xbox 360 controller to work fully on this title, as the right and left triggers did not function and thus the accelerate/brake functions had to be mapped to the right and left bumpers. Not a problem big enough to detract from the fun, though!
