Amazing Indie

In this adventure, you are plopped into a new job: helping guide lost souls to peace in the afterlife. The richness of the stories of these souls is wonderful- from losing their memories, to painful mistakes, to lives wasted. Several of the interactions left me with truly bittersweet feelings. And this is just the primary story- there is farming, building, cooking, fishing, and many side quests. And the graphics are lovely. AND this whole adventure is joined by your pet cat. I was said to leave this world when the adventure was over!

Storm Tale

Solid match three, but not very interesting

I bought this game *very* discounted (under $5), and for that price, this is a great match three game. But that's all it is. The description touts "saving your village", which is the loose plot, but the buildings in your village are nothing more than trophies achieved after earning enough jewels from boards. The "trophies" have little animations, but are not interactive- you don't even get to decide where in your village they go. The match three boards themselves are challenging enough, but I find them repetitive and no longer interesting after about board 75. So, good price for about 75 boards, but don't expect more.

Wacky fun!

I really enjoyed this game. I found the gameplay of needing to pick up aninmals and whatnot with bubbles very amusing and fun. And yet the game had some challenge, too, and kept me engaged. Graphics were fun as well!

Craft The World
 –

I keep playing it!

I have put endless hours into this game. I solve it, then I want to come back and solve it again- new random boards, new castle for my dwarves. I find it relaxing and satisfying. This game is perfect if you enjoy a mining/builder with a little fighting and a little cute. I have purchased a few of the mods and that just increases the enjoyment and the variety. Kudos to the developers for continuing to put in fixes and updates for new operating systems.

Airport Mania 2 Premium Edition
 –

If you liked Airport Mania...

You'll love the sequel, too. More fun, more challenges. A unique and happy time-management game (except when you screw up and all the aircraft hate you and fly away...)

Pillars of Eternity - Definitive Edition

Great Turn-Based Adventure

An engrossing turn-based adventure with hard puzzles and lots (and lots!) to explore. Many paths to choose from as well. For example, do you want to try and build an alliance with the shady priest, or rat him out to others, or just kill everyone? Your choice. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that some puzzles/battles were so tricky as to be frustrating- I don't want to die and fail endlessly. But mostly I just enjoyed the rich story and enjoyed my time in the realm.

Great sim!

I really love this sim. I enjoy building towers and working through the challenges of the different scenarios. I am looking forward to buying some expansion packs so I can build out farther and play with even more options.

Where Angels Cry 2: Tears of the Fallen
 –

Eh.

The hidden object parts were fine, but I didn't find the overall story very good or any of the puzzles very engaging. I wasn't very satified by the time I finished it (which seemed pretty quick). It's a fine, quick, distraction if you can get a good deal on it.

Surviving Mars
 –

Good, for a while

I very much agree with the reviewer that explains why this game is great at the start, and then sort of peters out as your colony becomes more mature. I wanted more to happen and more goals to go after. But still an impressive game, even if you just play through the beginnings of a colony a few times.

Catana
 –

It's Cat-tastic!

This is a funny and fun game. Your goal is to help save your world from the mysterious invaders... that have turned everything into enemies: rocks, sea creatures, jello molds, oh no! Our hero (Catana) wields a sword and clever strategy to defeat each board and boss. I enjoyed the humor and particularly the hilarious "sad cat" face that Catana occasionally makes when waiting for your move. I also liked that I could take all the time I wanted to plan my moves. The only reason I'm not going to give this 5 stars is that I'm not sure how much replay this game has. Each board starts the same every time (although the random spawns always change, which does add variety). Great job to the developers! You'll enjoy this game!

Battleship
 –

It's Battleship!

This is the classic Battleship but with the extra wrinkle of special torpedos/weapons that can be earned and deployed by both sides. I found it a solid game: easy to understand and easy controls. Very much a time-passing distraction, but on my Mac instead of my phone. Not giving it a higher score just because there isn't much to it once you've earned all the special weapons (which are, I admit, fun to have).

Jungle vs. Droids
 –

Creative and colorful game

In this game, you have a number of animals to choose from to defend each level's crystal from droid attack. The animals have an interesting array of different strengths and skills, making this a good strategy game. You also need to carefully spend your earned points on upgrades to give yourself the ability to succeed in more challenging levels. I really enjoyed the strategy aspects, but didn't enjoy needing to move my animal army around with point and click. Maybe this is easier to do with a mouse, but it became frustrating trying to manage the animals with my trackpad. I would have prefered just setting up my particpants and then letting them battle it out. Still, a very unique and creative game with fun animals and challenging boards.

Best time-management game

This is my favorite time-management game of all. The graphics are cute and fun, the sound effects are great, and the controls are easy-to-use. But getting expert score on all levels and earning all the various trophies is a real challenge. A pleasure!

Bistro Boulevard
 –

Decorations Galore

I really love this game. Each restaurant opened requires discovering recipes, managing and training staff, and decorating the restaurant space. I admit that decorating the spaces is something I love and kept me coming back. If you're not into decorating, this game probably won't have the replay value that it had for me. I like a game with satisfying goals for a relaxing break from my day. Bistro Boulevard has all the features I like!

Cities in Motion
 –

Great transportation simulation game!

This games has you designing and connecting transportation routes in major European cities throughout history. As history progresses, you have to adapt to changing in technology and needs. All this while managing a challenging and fickle populace and economy. Plenty of variety to keep me challenged and entertained: from reuniting Berlin to navigating around the canals of Amsterdam. I love simulation games and Cities in Motion delivers!

Wildhollow
 –

Easy, but fun and entertaining

Wildhollow is a pretty easy game, but it has a great sense of humor, and was an enjoyable way to pass some time. This game was clearly written by fans of traditional adventure games. Also, trying to breed all the types of possible animals is a fun challenge that add dimension to the game.

Tourist Trap - Build the Nation's Greatest Vacations
 –

Crazy tourist destination!

In this game you build your own tourist destination with crazy roadside attractions of every type. The attractions are lighthearted and fun. I didn't find the game very challenging, but I enjoyed designing and building my tourist town and have the tourists pour in. Building my town several times over was a relaxing getaway. The graphics are good with cute animations.

12 Labours of Hercules IX: A Hero's Moonwalk Collector's Edition

Time Management at its Best

A great time management game! Fun sounds and graphics, and lots of extra levels to unlock. Very easy to play with my trackpad laptop as well (no drag and drop requirements). I was able to get through the whole storyline pretty quickly, but I'm finding the strategy needed for the extra levels is enjoyably challenging.

Queen's Garden 4 - Sakura Season
 –

Relaxing Match Game

This is a great relaxing match game. Not very hard, but enough variety in the puzzles to keep me engaged. And I enjoy designing different gardens with the earned points. Nice relaxing soundtrack as well.

Boutique Boulevard
 –

Short and Sweet

The only reason I'm not giving this game four stars is that you can easily finish it in 6 or 7 hours of gameplay (and I tend to be a slow player). But, I do pull this game back out and replay it from time to time. I enjoy games where I get to decorate- if you like that as well, buy it. Particularly if it goes on sale!
