Game of Thrones - A Telltale Games Series (Telltale Key)
 –

Disappointing experience

Well, I had to give 2 stars on account of playing through all 6 episodes. It began with promise but became increasingly disappointing. Very little character development, thin and rather bland story. There is only an illusion of choice in your playthrough as your decisions have essentially no effect on the various outcomes, just slight variations in the 'journey'. The game also stuttered a lot though that may have been due to my set up (though i read it's a fairly common fault)... Lacked inspiration and *minor spoiler* is set up for an obvious sequal and cash grab. I loved The Walking Dead, but have since been underwhelemed by Telltales subsequent releases.

Back to the Future: The Game
 –

A bit

Perhaps my expectations are at fault here, but I felt this game was very young and a bit lacking for what I've come to expect from tell tale. I loved Walking Dead 1 & 2 and what I've played of the Wolf Among Us, but BTTF was a class or two below these others. Challenge is non existent and the game incredibly linear, with no seeming impact of dialgoue choices; which were the hallmark of Walking Dead.

Perhaps this game is just designed for a younger demographic and that's fine. This game just wasn't really something I could get into.

Enforcer: Police Crime Action
 –

A lot of unrealised potential here

This game feels like the very early stages of something that could be pretty great.

It's trying to do a lot and the net result so far is that none of it is done amazingly well, but with some refinement and updating Enforcer could set a nice bar for police simming.

The cases, actions and procedures could do with some more fleshing out and there's not much by way of living world ambience. There are about 6 skins that all the citizens use and all anyone does is walk around with or without an umbrella as rain dictates. The world, while big, does start to feel very empty very quickly. Case in point; any house you have to go to; be it for a kidnapping call, possible burglary etc. is always empty of objects and any pertinent NPCs, crim or victim, is always standing in exactly the same position. Enforcer gets very 'paint by numbers' very quickly.

There are a few bugs, glitches and the car physics leaves a little to be desired but nothing here that kills the game. Sound is OK. Could definitely do with more 'ambient' noise. Street noise, cafe chatter around towns and just general 'life!'.

I've played a few hours and progressed up a few ranks (despite an increase in pay there's not really any difference in gameplay that I've noticed) ... i enjoy the missions and there is some variation among them but once you've done each one once, there's not a lot of pull to keep repeating them.

I guess in short, this game just needs an injection of 'life'.

F1™ 2013: Classic Edition
 –

Good game; if you're michael schumacher

I'm probably just an R-tard, but after a few hours i still couldn't compete on amateur difficulty in career mode. I'm not particularly un-coordinated and am quite versed in gaming but this was beyond me. My interest in F1 is kinda vague but i thought this might be a fun game. I was quite wrong. I was last, getting lapped by second last in career mode, without any monumental stuff ups ... this just did my head in. good graphics / sound / interface though.

Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition
 –

I didn't want to like this game ...

But Lordy, did I Love it!!

I played it for hours and hours and later went back and bought the first Borderlands. It's so much happiness. So much DLC! My girlfriend was a bit upset by the whole thing, what with me not paying her much attention n that, but I think I made the right choice. Buy with confidence! W00t.

Call of Duty 2
 –

Getting reacquianted with my desktop

Evideltly Aspyr think I haven't been spending enough time with my desktop because since downloading Call Of Duty 2, we've become quite well acquinated once more. I can't really comment on the game itself, unless its objective is to crash, because it's quite good at that.

Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta - Episode 1 - Gold Edition
 –

To be fair ...

I didn't really play this game for very long - I found the combat system pretty cumbersome and unweildy so decided to go outside and play with my neighbours cat instead.

Omerta: City of Gangsters
 –

A paint by numbers experience. A $10 game posing as a $40.

As an avid fan of the gangster genre I was very excited to learn of this game. Unfortunately the play doesn't really deliver beyond a 'paint by numbers' experience that's never especially challenging and somewhat on the lean side. The story is a little predictable and not terrible well executed. The lack of any kind of character development is a little bit disappointing too, but is par for the gangster 'stratergy*' genre. *I use the term loosley as none is particulary required to play this game with the occsaional exception of a couple of combat missions.// Having said all that, I've logged my share of hours playing it and saw it through to its conclusion. It is a good skeleton of a game, i would love to see it more deeply developed and involving particularly at its base price. It's a $10 game posing as a $40.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode 1
 –

A Little underwhelming after the wonder of infinite.

I very much enjoyed the Raputre spin on Booker and Elizabeth as much as I love Columbia. I undersrand this is a DLC add-on, but can't help but feel a little underwhelemed after the richness of infinite, and the ending here raised several eyebrows. I'm hoping EP2 explains this and adds to the infinite scope, rather than detract from what was an exceptional main game conclusion.

BioShock Infinite
 –

An absolute gem!

Fun game play in a wonderfully created and absorbing world. The story is very compelling and only deepens as you go. Elizabeth is hands down one of the best female characters I've ever seen in a game; three dimensional and complex. Nor did her character impact negatively on game play. Loved this game.
