The Path
 –

Interesting game

The Path is certainly an intriguing game. I felt that I could explore for hours just trying to find something new. The idea is beautiful and just morbid enough to interest me, but I felt there was almost too much to explore. I had more fun reading interpretations of the game online after playing than I did actually playing the game. A tiny bit more direction/purpose could hace helped keep my attention more. I didn't really have enough patience to play out the game with each girl. This game is really meant for someone who loves creating their own story for the characters, someone who can really appreciate the mood of the game.

Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister
 –

Nancy Drew Fan...

I love the Nancy Drew games. They are really my guilty pleasure. I have played all the games available on Mac and a good amount of the PC-only games, too. Trail of the Twister, though, is one of the most boring. The puzzles are the same as always, but the characters and the mystery were not exciting, and some of the tasks Nancy has to do are just time consuming and serve no purpose, like catching mice in the house. I played it through because I love the Nancy Drew games, but I'd recommend starting with a different title if you're new to the games.

Nancy Drew: Alibi in Ashes

Playing as many characters!

Alibi in Ashes was a fun mix-up for a Nancy Drew game, as you get to play as Ned and Bess. Nancy is thrown in prision for arson and she needs her friends to help do some of the snooping for her. It was interesting to see the people in Nancy's town who know her and what she's about. Not my favorite Nancy Drew game, but playing as different characters made the story line more fun.

Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall
 –

Great ending!

I tend to enjoy the creepy Nancy Drew games a bit more, so of course one about a ghost will be right up my alley. The story in this one was intriguing and kept me very intereseted, and the characters had some depth to them, too. I really didn't know who did it until the very end. The ending, though, was the really special part of this particular Nancy Drew game. Usually, you just go through the motions as Nancy, solving puzzles until there's a cut scene and you find out who dunnit and try to catch them within another puzzle. The ending the the Ghost of Thornton Hall was quite customizable. I won't give away details, but you get to control Nancy's decisions on what to do. As I recall, the game has 2-3 possible endings, which is a new thing for these games. This game is up there in my favorite Nancy Drew titles.

Gone Home
 –

Thought provoking

I played through this game in just a few sittings, really taking my time. It's not a super long game, but it makes up for it in story. The ending is a bit predictable once you really get going, but there are a few red herrings and side-steps, as well. Gone Home is almost a mystery game, but it feels more personal than that, like you're really just exploring your own home, finding out things about your family's past and present. It's more about making quiet personal discoveries than really solving a mystery.

My only gripe with the game was that the movement of the setting made me quite dizzy at times. The POV follows the mouse, so I had to make sure not to move my mouse too quickly or I would have to take a break or risk getting queasy.
