Total War™: NAPOLEON – Definitive Edition
 –

Peak 'gunfire' Total War

Got it on a deep discount and think it greatly improves on Total War Empire. Looks *much* better and although scale for regions and timeline is greatly slimed back, it is an incredibly fun and interesting part of history.

Playing French and taking on almost the entirety of Europe is a riot

Europa Universalis IV: Origins Immersion Pack
 –

Really fun 'small' DLC pack

Updates a really ignored area of the map/game with a lot of different flavor and options, will get you to play Africa if you haven't before or in a while.

Ethiopia was already one of my most fun nations to play and this really throws fuel on that as well!

Sid Meier's Civilization V: The Complete Edition
 –

Prefer this over 6

This is still, IMO, the definitive Civ experience without going WAY back to Civ 4.

I had stopped playing before Brave New World came out years ago, and getting that DLC (in this pack) and playing it again really adds a ton of features and really completes the package.

No brainer, can find it for under $10 (got it for $7.50 actually) and it truely is ALL DLC and packs for Civ 5.

Hearts of Iron IV: No Step Back
 –

This is a monumental DLC for HOI4

NSB is a complete game-changer for the better. The supply system and tank designer alone, along with free update, have taken this from more arcade like WW2 game to straddling a perfect line of arcade and hardcore simulation.

Suddenly, SP and MP are turned on their heads and the fundamentals of the game are thrown out.

SP is a good and fun challenging time now, prep is hugely important, watching supplies during long offensives (like in real life) is completely necessary. I cannot overstate how big, important and fun this new DLC is for HOI4.

Some Paradox DLC's are hit or miss, this might be one of the cornerstone DLC's ever

Europa Universalis IV: Call-to-Arms Pack
 –

Cosmetic but fun

On sale, adds some flavor. Eastern European cavalry and some monuments (which were just added as an actual game play mechanic with leviathan)

Europa Universalis IV: Leviathan
 –

Complete Buggy mess, crashes at start up AVOID for now

Paradox has created a terrible reputation of not bug testing literally anything after every release and this is the grand culmination of that.

Complete mess of a launch, including (for the first time for me) not even being able to start a game. Crashes at start up.

'Wait a few weeks for patches to be playable' has never been more true. Do not get in this current state unfortunately.

—3 patches later and it's getting better, but man what an asbolutley unacceptable release

Hearts of Iron IV: Radio Pack
 –

Get on Sale

If you have a problem and are rapidly approaching 1200 hours of playtime like me, grabbing this helps change up the music/sound. Get on deep discount, then its a no-brainer

Hearts of Iron IV: Battle for the Bosporus
 –

More flavor, more fun

Doesn't change mechanics, but adds flair and flavor to the game we all love. More focus trees, more releasable and formable nations.

If you aren't trying to restore the Ottoman Empire or Byzantium, what are you even doing?!

$9 is a no-brainer

Circle Empires
 –

Really fun, quick mini-RTS

Perfect game if you just want quick, short bursts of golden age RTS action. Can get really lost in it, especially the beginning, but I find it perfect when I just want to quickly jump in and out of a game

by Dubbs09, United States - Jul 7th 2020

Circle Empires: Apex Monsters!
 –

No-brainer add on

Can get on sale for less than a dollar, adds monsters/bosses to the main game that help expand it out some

by Dubbs09, United States - Jul 7th 2020

Stellaris: Federations
 –

Adds tons of tweaks and changes

You'll get the most mileage if you are actively pursuing being in federations and the galactic community. But even when you aren't, the DLC will drastically change how the universe plays out.

Origins and the new mega-buildings top it all off. No-brainer on sale, which it is most of the time

Europa Universalis IV: Emperor
 –

Incredible update (free and DLC)

Huge update to the game and first DLC in 1.5 years. Big changes to Europe, especially if you are an HRE fiend and want to unite the world under the HRE's flag.

Great return to form for Paradox, no brainer on sale (which their DLC almost always is).

Hearts of Iron IV: La Résistance
 –

More alt history options and new espionage tactics

Espionage takes some getting used to, and it is a little half-baked right now, but once you do it can really make RP much better.

It also adds almost 20 new achievements if you are into that

Crusader Kings II: Holy Fury
 –

No-brainer DLC, but after a couple of games first

Like other have said, this is a major DLC, adds a ton to the game and really brings some different things together/fleshes them out.

But I suggest playing a few games, getting a couple dozen (or more, because its CK2) hours under your belt, then getting this on sale. You'll truly appreciate the additions at that point

Crusader Kings II: Sons of Abraham
 –

Second Tier, but fun DLC

Not on the essential list of DLC, but close. Adds a LOT of flavor with religion and the epic wars during this time frame.

Gamey-wise, can get a leg up taking money and expelling Jews from land, getting money from Pope, etc. Worth it on sale

by Dubbs09, USA - Oct 27th 2019

Crusader Kings II: Legacy of Rome
 –

Essential DLC

You'll find 'essential DLC' lists for CK2's base game, and this is almost always on it. Adds a few different things, especially for old Roman holdings, but most importantly is the addition of retinues (standing armies). HUGE deal in CK2

by Dubbs09, USA - Oct 26th 2019

Crusader Kings II: Way of Life
 –

Essential DLC

You'll find 'essential DLC' lists for CK2's base game, and this is almost always on it. Adds a lot of character flavor and most importantly development focuses to help make your character better and more unique!

Stellaris: Ancient Relics Story Pack
 –

Story DLC, but adds mechanics

Another fun story DLC from Paradox, but this one adds extra mechanics and a few new things to the actual game. Not just a story DLC. Get it on sale and if you love Stellaris its a no brainer

by Dubbs09, USA - Sep 19th 2019

Stellaris: MegaCorp
 –

Adds a lot of flavor

May not seem like a lot until you dive into it, opens up a lot of interactions (good and bad) with other empires and races. Tons of new mechanics for trade and economy and the new civics and world options and spice to everything!

by Dubbs09, USA - Sep 3rd 2019

Hearts of Iron IV: Man the Guns
 –

Tons of stuff with this one

Some Paradox expansions can seem light, but this one brings a lot to the table and in a lot of different ways. I've never loved navy, but the changes do have me more interested. Then new focus trees/alt paths, fuel....it changes a ton of stuff
