One of (Maybe the best) Turn based strategies out there
Loved XCOM EW, this takes it from the groundfloor and throws so much at you. The collection (on sale) is a no brainer. War of the chosen adds as much as EW did for XCOM vanilla.
If you haven't played before, XCOM is known for its no apologies difficulty. Be prepared to lose soldiers, especially at the beginning. But its so rewarding when you start winning and fighting back.
One of the best strategy and total war games out there
If you are a fan of Total War, this is a no brainer. They go back to their roots and expand greatly. This was the 'old' total war before Rome 2 changed things with provinces. So depending if you liked the changes or not (or were indifferent like me) it can be refreshing to go back.
Huge HOI4 fan that was looking for something different....and Paradox delivered. Get on sale because you'll want a few (or all DLC) but growing your galactic empire will become addictive.
This and Utopia are widely regarded as must have DLC. Get on sale if you can, no-brainer. This really adds a bunch of new features to the war side of things (my favorite). Super weapons and structures.
Sim City has been dethroned by Paradox. They bring their usual in-depth quality to city building and it is great. With that said, as always with Paradox, there is substantial DLC that needs to be considered when you plunge into a new series.
Especially on sale (can be very deep sometimes) this game really brings out some white knuckle moments. Tutorial is pretty quick and shows you what you need to know, wiki the rest. Squad and turn based fans this is a no-brainer.
I wasn't super interested in the commonwealth focuses, but the new puppet systems really do change some things. Especially the manpower option if you are playing a smaller country.
100's of hours worth of content, continually gets patches and updates from Devs. Can control almost any country leading up to and through WW2. Grand strategy, especially this era, isn't done any better. NO brainer pick up, especially if it is on any kind of sale (can find it 50%-75% off sometimes).
Really adds to the game, especially if you want to play in Asia or have alt-history for Japan and Germany (BRING BACK THE KEISER!!). Easy purchase if you want to try a very, very different way of playing Germany and disposing hitler.
Absolutely amazing open-world (or in VC story-driven, THEN open world) strategy that doesn't have a lot of competition.
Only question is, through steam, it has a higher/newer version than the one I have on Mac Game Store? The versions aren't the same and not sure how to update the one here?
I thoroughly enjoyed the first CoH and this is bigger, longer and from the 'other' side on the eastern front. The additional map packs are extremely challenging as well and open up the use of multiple countries. Absolutely worth the price, especially if you catch it on a sale. No brainer
After learning (i.e. reading a lot of manual and forums) and figuring out the new province system, I finally got my happiness and food under control. At that point this game becomes a great time. Just takes time to figure out the new systems
