Fitness Frenzy

Assess your customers needs.

This is a typical time management game with a health/gym theme. As you progress through the game various equipment can be purchased and upgraded to garner more cash. I like that you must assess the needs of the customer as they walk in. You then suggest which equipment to use next, subject to availability. This adds a bit of difficulty to the game play and sets it apart from the other time management games.

Eternal Journey: New Atlantis Collector's Edition
 –

Past to Future

The story line is very interesting. It takes us from Atlantis in the past to Mars in the future. The hidden objects reflect which phase of the game you are playing.

Neon Tango
 –

Classic

This is a classic game of world conquest in the genre of Asteroids where you destroy wave upon wave of aliens starships. Worth looking at if you are into these type of retro games.

Hidden Secrets: The Nightmare
 –

Great Fun for All Ages

This game is an even mixture of finding objects in the scene and mini-games to play afterwards. The objects are not easy to spot, even with sparkles popping up when you mouse over them. This game is playable by all ages and all levels of expertise, although it might not work on a newer Mac OS. There are twenty different scenes to complete which represents lots of game play.

Bigfoot: Chasing Shadows
 –

Good Intro to HOG

This is an older Hidden Object Game with graphics that are OK. The story line of searching for BigFoot can be ignored. It does not add to the game play. This would make a good first try at HOG as the sparkles help you to find items. It is however still good for the more expert player as many of the items to be found are hiding behind moveable objects.

Vacation Quest - Australia
 –

Hours of Play

This is a typically pure Hidden Object Game. Each of the areas contains numerous perfectly camouflaged items to be found. Some are easy to find others are not. The use of clues rather than simply using the name of the object adds to the challenge. The number of different Australian locations provides hours of HOG play.

PopCap Greatest Hits Bundle

Bundles are the Best

This is a great bundle. It has so much variety in it. There are board games like Monopoly and Scrabble. There are some hidden object games. And best of all, my favourite arcade game Peggle.

Weird Park 3: The Final Show
 –

Scary Characters abound

This is one HOG that might not be suited for the younger crowd. The story line has a scary clown and a very evil looking doll which will frighten everyone. The game play is great, with numerous hidden object scenes and interesting mini-games. The path from location to location never seems to end. It goes on and on, providing hours of fun.

Deep Blue Sea
 –

Fun for all ages

Deep Blue Sea is your typical match three game. It has a cute story line, which I tend to skip. I am more interested in the game play. Items such as your diver and artifacts have to be removed from the board by having them drop out the bottom. That is where the match three comes in. As always the level of difficulty increases with each new screen. Power-ups can be gained to help get you through. The game is set up so that any age can play and be successful. It is totally replayable. Each screen that comes up is a new experience.

Panopticon: Path of Reflections
 –

Good Basic HO Game

Path of Reflections offers a good intro to start exploring Hidden Object games. At the easy level, you are guided to which areas to explore. If you are familiar with HO then immediately choose the expert level. This game provides excellent graphics and a good story line. There are many areas to explore and mini games to solve.

Enigma Agency: The Case of Shadows Collector's Edition
 –

Poor Man's Indiana Jones Adventure

This game is filled with plenty of hidden objects scenes as well as all types of mini-games. It is certainly full value for the price. The map is useful, especially in detailing what still needs to be solved in each room. The scorpions add just one more item to be searched for. Lots of trophies to be had.

Strange Discoveries: Aurora Peak Collector's Edition
 –

Challenging

Aurora Peak offers some challenging Hidden Object pages and lots of puzzles to solve along the way. I like having to search for morhing objects as an aside task that has nothing to do with the adventure. The trophies are a good incentive to replay the quest. Once you get through the game once, you can go back and replay those challenging puzzles and try to beat your time.

Mayan Prophecies: Cursed Island Collector's Edition

Hours of Fun

The Mayan Prophecies has provided us with many hours of fun. The game just kept on going and going. There are lots of hidden object scenes and many interesting puzzles to solve. This is definitely a game to get if you enjoy HOG.

Ancient Secrets
 –

Perfect for Beginners

Ancient Secrets is a pefect game to introduce anyone to Hidden Object Games. The game is fairly linear in nature, directing you to the next task's location. Little time is wasted wandering around trying to decide where to go next. It would be excellent for the younger player, requiring them to read in order to progress. The puzzles are numerous and a lot of fun to solve. I would not recommend it for the accomplished HOG player.

Nevertales: The Beauty Within Collector's Edition
 –

Scary Adventure

Nevertales is a hidden object adventure game with the emphasis on the adventure. Even the hidden object screens will require you to move things around to find all the items. The scenes are numerous as you move from mansion to island to boat to ??? To help get around, maps are provided. Clicking on a room will immediately take you there, saving you travelling around time. There are extra searchable items. Some scenes have objects morphing into another shape, others have a hidden rose. The hints are useful when you are in doubt as to where to go next. Overall, I find this to be a lot of fun to play. I will be playing it more than once.

Escape From Paradise
 –

Like a game of Survivor Island!!

This is a strategy game in which you control survivors of a shipwreck. Routines include having them cut down trees and collect food as you try to keep them alive and discover a way off the island. As more and more people join your burgeoning colony, it is hard to keep track of them all. There are four areas that need to be monitored for each of them (hunger, thirst, sleep, social). It would help immensely if there was a map of the area showing little blips as to where all your survivors are at any one time. The many mini games are fun to play and help pass the time when all your people are busy with their assignments. I like that the games can be used to as an additional way to increase skill levels for each of the players. It is also a quick way to add provisions. This game will take many enjoyable hours to finish. It also has good replay ability. The next time I want to try to better organize the village so that their trips are of shorter duration.

Escape The Museum
 –

Great Puzzle Adventure

Escape the Museum, as the name implies, is a hidden object and puzzle solving game in which you have to determine a way out of a collapsed museum. It is great fun, suitable for any age group. Each room requires you to find objects that can be used to move debris and such out of the way so you can progress to the next room. You will need to do some quick thinking to figure out what to use. I like the timer (good replay value in trying to beet previous times) and the map to keep track of wehere you have been. The only problem is that it needs to run it on an older Mac OS (requires Rosetta).

Wheel of Fortune Deluxe
 –

Just Like TV

This version of the game is just like being on tv. It even has all the same sounds. The puzzles are demanding enough that all will be entertained, no matter what their level of expertise. The biggest problem was that you have to type in all the letters to an answer even when many are there already. If the phrase you are solving for is long enough, time runs out before you finish. I would prefer only having to input the missing letters.

A word of warning for those purchasing this game. I was not able to play this game with Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite). It kept telling me that the game was already running but nothing was on the screen. I was able to play it with an older OS with no problem.
