Battle Fleet
 –

Battle time!

Game is okay! It's about fleets, and they battle! Pretty straightforward. For $5 bucks its hard to go wrong. Seems to me more of an ios/ipad type game that's on Mac. If you like it, there's also a Battle Fleet 2 to check out.

Best game I've never played!

I can only imagine how awesome this game would be if I ever played it. Just think of the fantastic visual adventure I could go on! It features rippling water, falling rain, waving trees & grass and advanced graphical effects!

The mind-bending puzzles I could overcome or keep me up at night! And the features go on! You won't even believe these features baby. Just check out "Zip Mode in classic navigation – hold down to keep walking." BUY THIS GAME RIGHT NOW. You can hold a button down to keep walking. Is this some futuristic tech they somehow gained knowledge of to blow our minds? I think so.

This game is truly a masterpiece. How could it not be? It's right in the title! So it must be true. You can take the game's word for it. Games never lie! Unless you play Portal. Then you might get lied to about cake.

I don't know about you, but I know what I'll be doing today, which is totally imaging all the fun I'll have playing this game! Woohoo!

Borderlands 2: Creature Slaughterdome
 –

More arena fun.

Arena's are some of the best content in Borderlands in my opinion as it gives you pure combat carnage in increasing waves. The level designs are usually good as well. This one isn't the best, but its solid enough and no reason not to play through it when you come across it. Moxxie weapons are also fun.

Desperados III - Digital Deluxe Edition
 –

Probably Game of the Year on Mac

This is for the deluxe edition, but really would be the same for the base game. This stealth-heavy western action adventure is glorious and I can't get enough of it. From the same developers who brought us Blades of the Shogun, its kind of Shogun 2.0 in terms of the characters and mechanics. So if you loved that game, you'll enjoy this one unless you have an issue with the western theme.

Expect lots of sneaking, stabbing, manipulating your characters and enjoying great set pieces, level design and voice acting. It's all top notch!

Even more impressive is the Mac performance, which runs at Max settings and resolution, and still gives me 45+ FPS. Of course turning down the resolution gives lots more FPS if that's an issue on weaker machines.

Basically don't miss out on this awesome game!

Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock vs. the Son of Crawmerax
 –

Weak main story but top-notch side mission

Like its big-brother DLC this Hammerlock themed content is weak. It's not boring like Big Game Hunt was, because its like an hour long, so how boring can it be? But it's just not particularly great. The level design is probably the best part and you get to fight lots of pirates which is cool. And there's some neat under-the-sea sections I can't complain about.

Actually the best part of this DLC is the "Victims Of Vault Hunters" optional side mission. Make sure to play it! It's a total riot involving a group of assassins swearing revenge against the vault hunters for various past misdeeds.

TORGUE STRIKES AGAIN

THIS REVIEW WILL BE IN ALL CAPS, BECAUSE...EXPLOSIONS YAWOWOWOW.

REALLY THIS DLC IS ALL ABOUT TORGUE. THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. BUY IT! BUT IT'S ALSO THEMED ABOUT THANKSGIVING WHICH IS COOL, AND YOU GET TO MEET TORGUES GRANDMA WHO IS A BADASS. YOU EVEN LEARN MORE ABOUT TORGUES ORIGNS AND BACKGROUND. WOOOO.

Borderlands 2: Mercenary Day
 –

A great slice of Christmas & GUNS cause Marcus

This snowy and holiday themed DLC is a lot of fun. One of the better ones for sure, you go to a sleepy town full of missing people. I won't spoil what happens, but its both creepy and cool. Marcus is the main character here and there are several fun missions, some cool bosses and absolutely hilarious dialogue if you poke around and watch some of the enemies or exhibits.

Borderlands 2: Wedding Day Massacre
 –

In which we learn that Gaige has a thing for Hammerlock

A great Moxie themed piece of DLC, you are attending a wedding of some Irish Hodunks. Of course things don't go as planned its horribly violent. Perfect for the Borderlands! There's lots of alcohol themed quests. The main one being to find a perfect match for InnuendoBot! Some of the more amusing writing in the game belongs to him. Level design is pretty good and its a fun romp. We also learn, that if you are playing Gaige, she remarks she would totally hit on Hammerlock if he was straight. So THAT was a thing.

Borderlands 2: TK Baha's Bloody Harvest
 –

Halloween Fun

This is a decent bit of halloween themed fun for Borderlands 2. of course its short, like all these mini DLC's are. This was the first one they made and its not bad, but hard to recommend buying. The best part is probably the secret boss which only spawns after you do a series of specific events and can drop a good rocket launcher. Still no reason not to play it if you get it on sale or part of a BL2 bundle.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode 2
 –

Interesting Twist on Bioshock

Of course you won't want to play this without having completed Episode 1 of Burial at Sea as this is a direct continuation of that story arc. There's a lot of twists and turns here, but the main hook is you play as Elizabeth who is decidedly more sneaky and less combative than her father. Expect more mind-bending bioshock along with interesting details that link Rapture with Infinite.

Just note that Bioshock Infinite is no longer playable on Catalina, so play this one before updating like I did!

BioShock Infinite: Clash in the Clouds
 –

Not bad

Not the best Bioshock content out there. The game is really about its story and atmosphere after all. While Clash is interesting as a concept, it doesn't really suit Infinite. It's fun for a few times, but nothing you'll keep playing over and over. After finishing the campaign you'll likely have had enough of the combat, though given Infinites gameplay that largely forces you to focus on either guns or plasmids, but not both, Clash could offer a quicker way to tryout things you didn't in the campaign.

Note: Bioshock Inifinite is no longer compatible with Catalina, so keep an eye out for that.

XCOM 2 Collection
 –

One of the best turn-based strategy collections around

It is time to save the world from aliens - again. "Wait a minute, didn't I save the world in XCOM: Enemy Unknown?" Turns out none of us did, as XCOM 2 makes into canon the ending that humanity failed the final assault, and now the Aliens have taken over the planet.

While it's a seemingly odd approach for a sequel to tell all its players "you lost," XCOM 2 manages to cleverly weave this into a new story. The new attitude works, possibly even for the better, as this is a better game all around.

XCOM 2 is a near-perfect strategy and RPG experience that does everything a sequel is meant to do: It improves on what came before it in almost every way, and distills saving the world (again) into a nearly endless scalable package that can appeal to a wide variety of players. And mod support from day one ensures a high amount of longevity for this game's community. With the performance issues mostly smoothed out (thanks Feral!) and more patches coming down the road, there's no reason to not be playing XCOM 2 right now.

Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt
 –

Worst Borderlands 2 content available

There's no good reason to play this DLC. While the other 3 out of 4 are amazing and must play for any Borderlands fan, this one is trash. The story is boring, the landscapes are largely empty and colorless, and you'll spend most of your time running from one side of the map (on foot, no vehicles) over and over until you hate the game. There's no good loot either. There is one new interesting (and creepy) new enemy in the form of a giant spider like monster, but that's not enough of a reason to pick this up as you'll never see it again anyway. Skip this one and get the others.

Door Kickers
 –

Excellent top-down strategy!

This is a really fun game. I love police/SWAT type games and this one nails the settings, tone, and style of gameplay. Each level is a tactical puzzle and failure is entirely on you. The game is challenging, but not unfair, and they give you all the tools you need to succeed.

Unfortunately this is no longer compatible with Catalina. I tried! Not a false 32-bit game.

Tomb Raider
 –

Amazing!

You don't need to be a Tomb Raider fan to enjoy this perfect action adventure game. Lara's journey from naïve explorer to hardened survivalist should not be missed. It may be expensive, but it is one of the best games you will play this year. Get it!

Tomb Raider DLC Collection
 –

Not bad DLC

If you love Tomb Raider, then this is worth picking up. The new challenge tomb is near the beginning and nets you a lot of salvage and XP. Just be sure to revisit it later when you have the grenade launcher upgrade. I forgot about that until after I finished the game.

Lara's outfits are fun. I spent most of the game in the Aviatrix outfit, but your mileage may vary. Her default look is really good as well.

The upgrades they give you are a little more sketchy. Lara's skills are in a tiered system, so this just lets you buy/unlock them early with XP instead of later. Convenient, but not necessary. Probably the best one is the Agility skill as it lets you climb faster and fall farther without dying. Handy to get around.

The multiplayer is actually decently fun. And this is probably where the DLC shines most. The weapons are really good and you don't have to grind 30-50 levels to get them like everything else. The multi characters are just skins, but I enjoy the executioner.

The new multiplayer maps are also really good. The problem with releasing DLC maps is then splitting the community between those who have them, and those who don't. Still if you have some friends or a group going, they are great places to fight.

XCOM: Enemy Within
 –

Must get for any XCOM Fans

XCOM: Enemy Within is an *amazing* expansion pack. Cranks up the addictiveness by several notches. New units, new tech, weapons, enemies, and best of all, highly varied maps/environments as well as unique side missions. Must get for any XCOM fans.

Spec Ops: The Line

Solid 3rd person shooter that is not your usual fare

This just got released today courtesy of Digital Tribe Games. Good graphics, great performance, an interesting story and pretty fun gunplay make for a compelling recommendation. Check it out!

Borderlands 2: Psycho Pack
 –

Not the best character

I was excited to get the psycho pack because I was a big fan of Brick from Borderalands 1. Sadly the psycho is hard to use and you will get downed very often. Annoying when playing coop. His action skill is decent, but not as fun as the other characters. Not a bad class, but if you're going for DLC Characters, stick to the Mechromancer. Way better.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction
 –

Great single player and coop game.

Whether or not you truly enjoy Splinter Cell: Conviction depends on your expectations. If you want the same tried and true Splinter Cell formula, you will find a number of changes to that here. As many seem to be doing these days, it's more "accessible." It's a different kind of Splinter Cell and a different kind of Sam Fisher. I consider myself a fan of the series and I thoroughly enjoyed all that Conviction had to offer. While the game takes some hits for occasionally clunky AI, and a few stumbles in the single and multiplayer modes, it has a lot to offer. A stylish and engaging story, solid action and great audio combine for a satisfying package. Sam Fisher's latest adventure in search of questions and justice is one I would recommend you do not miss.
