This is a good game for solo, but terrible for coop online
The game is a good roguelike if you play it solo. No problem there. But be aware that the online part of the game is totally bad : the netcod is such that the guest player will have many rollbacks, take hits he shouldn't, etc. which makes his enjoyment fall to zero. So if you intended to play coop online like I did, drop the idea. It won't be fun for one of you.
I sincerely thought I would love those games in coop, but finally I must play those alone. And even if the gameplay is fun, it's too "riddle"/puzzle packed rather than action/platform.
It's a dlc which makes your game unplayable, because they rushed it with a "newly" found studio in Tinto. Stay away from it. Generally speaking dlc quality of Paradox has diminished greatly since 2018 for EU4. They are not bad, but their Q&A has no time to work, meaning bug, savegame crashs, etc.
If you play diplomatic in a spatial 4X you will love federations. Myself i'm more incline to kill anyone but ymmv. This dlc adds many origine options and so you can have more fun even without diplomacy.
I have been playing the vanilla stellaris experience, then bought utopia and waited some times before playing again; my second play session was so much fun. Utopia is good, and give good novelties in your game. Get it at a sale if you can.
CK3 is what CK2 should have been with a better tech
CK3 is CK2 without many useless feature, with a good modelling of characters, and with the new policy of paradox, that is : "only big meaty dlcs" to avoid the 50+ dlcs policy of CK2. It is impressive and very fun to play. A full game would last like 350 hours. And we only speak about ONE game. So this game will last as long as you live. Get it at a sale if you want, but if you like grand strategy, you will NEVER regret that purchase.
I played that game as "vanilla" and it wasn't very fun. But there are a lot of available dlc (i'm not very fan of those..., seen Paradox habit to exploit the dlc business model) but also with mod support, and mods are free. So you can check on the workshop on steam and have fun. Personally i have found the game very poor in gameplay : except buying, all what is around (financing, tax, managing population...) is poor.
Dharma is the expansion which was probably the last one where paradox could do their normal modelling. After came Golden century which was a terrible product. So you can get this one, and have fun with governments and all. It is one of the biggest content idea they added in the game since the Mandate of Heaven!
This expansion is for those who are sick of always playing "vanilla" races and want another experience... thus "veterans" or quick players, because vanilla options are so rich.
It's esthetic so you won't really need it but it's okay
Only esthetic portraits in this dlc, but if you love stellaris and will play a lot of that game, you will love to have more choice to get variety in future games sessions.
Story pack is fun but you have to play to get those
Story packs are little expansion that Paradox invented to get money for their biggest expansion. So in themselves they can be expensive, but at a sale it's good. Anyway the money is used for big expansion that you will love a lot.
For its price, its okay. Obviously it could have been cheaper for the same content, but those little packs help the dev team to make big extensions such as Nemesis which are great."
Nemesis is the best expansion for its price. Get espionnage ready and try to remain alive for the whole game. it will be hard but you will love to try.
