Go to space, meet new people, feel inadequate about it

While many players seem to view this game as a genocide simulator, I personally much prefer peaceful (or "peaceful", as much as a criminal empire come interstellar conglomerate can be) runs. Similar to CK3: Don't forget to role-play. Winning is rarely satisfying but doing a specific thing is. Be the Space UN.

The music will follow you

Never forget to turn on the radio. Turn to earth's surf tunes. Realize that it's really important that you and your future spouse are on the same page with regards to the sea.

Like with CK3 and Stellaris: Don't forget to roleplay, have concept-runs. Otherwise it gets stale like the air out of the recycler.

Visit the stars, become trouble

This expansion is by no means necessary to enjoy Stellaris but the *option* to cause trouble is fun, even if you otherwise are a pacifist.

Stellaris: Lithoids Species Pack

Tiny expansion, rock solid

In this expansion you play rock people. They eat.. Other, non-sentient (mostly) rocks. It's fun. Not necessary, but if it's cheap might as well get it. Also you look cool and reproduce slowly.

Crusader Kings II: Way of Life

Expands on the roleplaying

This expansion mostly expands the roleplaying in CK2. Some people are mad about the features locked away behind DLC, but if you can get it for cheap it's worth it. Either that or go for CK3. Both good options, depending on your situation.

Cheap, adds interesting twist

I really enjoyed my playthrough as a people who turns other people into.. Well, themselves. It gave me ideas for TTRPG campaigns I'd like to run some day. :) Small DLC, but for little money: Worth it.

Crusader Kings III: Royal Edition

Great game, mix between strategy and roleplaying

Encompasses many things that you only got through DLCs in CK2, looks much better. The research system is much improved. Kidnapping vacillates between under- and overpowered with different patches. Important to enjoy: Role-play, don't just try to "win". Set yourself goals and then let yourself re-define those goals for each playthrough.
