I wish they'd stop

Alright, there's now a million DLC for C:S. I feel it should be time to stop now. There's so much content for it, I spend more time looking up and searching stuff in the menu than actually taking care of my city. I feel this one is highly redundant, unfortunately.

Cities: Skylines - Airports

More essential than others

I wouldn't say every Cities Skylines DLC is a must. But being able to build airports in such detail as in this expansion is probably worth more than some other DLCs. If you're not into purchasing all of them, I'd say this is a good one to get earlier.

Highly optional

For me, the most recent large installment of C:S DLC is mostly optional. It will not raise your experience to another level, but it will give you a few nice new toys to play with in your city-sandbox and maximize options.

This War of Mine: Stories - Father's Promise
 – 

A little different than the base game

Unlike the base game, a lot of elements, such as the planning of ressources aspect, are not that present, or important in this DLC. Rather, picking up lots of information from NPCs becomes very relevant and the DLC is very story-driven. This makes the DLC feel less generic than parts of the base game, but replay value isn't there compared to the base game. Highly recommended though, unless you're not interested in story.

Cities: Skylines - Industries

Needs lots of space

It's a very expansive new DLC, introducing new types of industries, as well as much more control on how they prosper, but of course there's more work involved than previously. As stated in the title, all of the industries are in need of ample spatial resources, so some planning ahead is required in order to be able to place some of the ridiculously huge buildings. That aside, levelling up a business to maximum profitability is quite fun.

Cities: Skylines - Green Cities

Maybe the most essential DLC of all

First of all, it is still not perfect. The lack of eco-friendly businesses and industries still stands almost two years after release and various DLC released afterwards. But, a lot of buildings have been revamped and made more eco-friendly, solving a lot of pollution in the game. Overall it really can impact the livelihoods of citizens, as well as expenditure in the game, pollution may go down quite a bit, especially when combined with later DLC. Worth it.

Cities: Skylines - Parklife

Very specific

So, this expansion brings parks and lots of options with it. While some of us may very well enjoy plucking and grooming at their virtual parks for hours for it to look meticulous, some really don't bother too much. It adds a lot of assets and options and may be profitable for the tourism sector, but I wouldn't call this an essential DLC.

Cities: Skylines - Campus

Non-essential, but very fun and detailed

In this DLC, it's all about college-level education. You get three types of campus areas, along with a handful of new policies related to the educational system in your city. Building a campus requires a lot of space, similar to the previous industries DLC, for some buildings. At release, things were a bit shaky with citizens not going to specific colleges and so on, but that was fixed with a few updates afterwards. You still might need a few hours of gameplay to really get the hang of how citizens distribute, how campuses level up, and so on. I had a lot of fun fiddling with free education policies and ramping up tuition to max all of a sudden.

Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit

A little expensive, but of better value than the other big expansions

The traffic optimization and the new additions in this DLC are really worth the while of the player, or in some cases good enough to reignite the interest in the game after tossing it aside. If you haven't gotten any expansion for C:S yet, I recommend you start with this one, as I feel it has the best value over the others, as most of the additions here are either essential, or very fun to use.

1954 Alcatraz

Skippable

It's a daedalic title, which should be enough to know for most people. In itself, it's an ok game, with good voice acting, nice visuals and the usual complexity a deadalic game features. However, I feel that with all of the other great PAC games daedalic and other publishers have in their portfolio, you might just give this a pass and dedicate your time and effort to some better, funnier, more engaging alternatives than this one.

Cognition Game of the Year Edition

Great idea, technically bad

The art style works, the story is engaging and the audio is at least up to par. The artsy part of the game is actually quite good and enjoyable, but on a technical level, the game feels horrible. Very slow, sluggish controls and interface. While adventure games usually are not the fastest, this one really got my skin crawling with its slow feel. I'd pass up on this because your patience will really be put to the test!

realMyst: Masterpiece Edition

Outdated

As it stands, it is a clever puzzle game. But now, in the year 2017, this game has no place anymore. Set aside the technical issues on some PCs and the inability of some users to cope with them, from the visuals, to the interface it just does feel like a game from another time - which, of course, it is. Given the competition and the availability of far more than 100 other PAC games, I'd give this a pass.

The Night of the Rabbit

Solid Daedalic Experience as always

...But a little too long for it's own good - expect around 12 hours or more, depending on your experience with P&C games. What bothered me most is that some sections really didn't seem necessary, thus "only" three stars.
Voice acting, art style and puzzles are up to par with other Daedalic games, although friends of humorous P&C games might want to skip this, as this is a little more serious than say "Enda and Harvey" or "Deponia"

Aragami

Good stealth experience, sometimes too easy

As a stealth-veteran, this looked intriguing to me. I was awaiting this game eagerly when it released and I was not disappointed by it.
This does not mean the game doesn't have problems. Some sections are ridiculously easy, while sometimes there is a noticeable difficulty spike. Some checkpoints are very close too each other, while others are infuriatingly far away. The game also resets your difficulty settings upon quitting and restarting. The biggest fault however, is that the shadow-cover system sometimes just does not work. While you are clearly in the shadows visibly, the game does not act accordingly.

Solid, shorter (approx 5 hours for 1 playthrough including collectibles and medals, 8 hrs for 100%) stealth experience that is worth picking up for fans. For people new to the stealth genre, you might want to skip this.

Deponia
 – 

There's a reason Daedalic games has won multiple awards

And Deponia is an absolute classic of the P&C genre. Witty, smart puzzles, not too long and an interesting character. If you haven't yet played it - or especially if you're looking for a good entry-level-game to get to know P&C, this is your game. Even better, as it really, really often is discounted heavily or bundled.

Cities: Skylines - After Dark

A little expensive

... but else, fine. 4 new achievements to unlock (one is uncredibly grindy) and the addition of specialized zones, which, more often than not, do not contribute that much to the gameplay imo. As the title says, it's fairly overpriced, but it's been discounted down to $5 regularly. If you can get it for this price, it's worth a shot or a more complete Ci:S experience

Devouring Stars

Enjoyable

Very enjoyable, mind you, but sometimes kind of hard to grasp RTS game in the vein of eufloria. The menu can feel very cluttered, though, and battles might feel unfair before you get the hang of it. Striking visuals and simple, yet surprisingly fun gameplay are on the plus-side!

Among the Sleep

Really short

...but I probably guess, you know that. Rather than a challenging game (although there are failure states), more of an interactive story in an uncommon and interesting perspective, reminding the player of childish fears. There's not a real lot of interaction going on, but enough to pull through for two hours - the slow pace of the game made me drowzee, to be honest. Nevertheless, one of the better "walking" (or rather: crawling and stumbling) simulators out there!

This War of Mine - The Little Ones DLC

Cheap

And good for one rather hard achievement (finding 10 graffitis) - and one achievement for buying the DLC in the first place. The profit is given to the warchild charity, which is nice. Other than the artwork included in the DLC, there is no alteration or addition in gameplay. You can easily pass this by if you'd rather keep a dollar.

Magicka 2
 – 

Same-same, but different

The main difference to Magicka 1 is that this game is less enjoyable, because the spells are much more balanced. A huge part of the fun that was Magicka 1, to me, was the incredibly powerful, wacky, or ridiculous spells you could create. The second installment is much more down to earth, but, at release, was just as buggy at the first one. Skip this, unless you're a hardcore Magicka-fan
