Crusader Kings II: Horse Lords

It's good enough*****

Now that the game is finally done and won't get more DLC, you can finally buy it all on sale without worry. Adds enough to be worth it even if you're not playing as a nomad horde, but I wouldn't call it a must-have.

Mount & Blade: Warband - Viking Conquest Reforged Edition

Good*****

A good mod-like expansion for the M&B masterpiece. I still prefer Pendor overall, but Viking Conquest's story mode is definitely worth playing through. The game itself is more hardcore and realistic than vanilla, so expect more challenge, which is good, but not recommended for newbies to M&B.

Also good in the immersion department. And has naval combat (a tad janky, but it's there and the it's the only implementation in M&B that I know of).

Stellaris: Distant Stars Story Pack

Worth it*****

Ads a lot of immersive content to the game. 100% worth it on sale.

Stellaris: MegaCorp

Rushed for Christmas sales*****

This expansion was released in a pathetic state. Of note, the AI became even worse than it was before, and, for example, to this day (2021) there is still no AI implementation for the ecumenopolis. Modders have done it, but PDX can't afford the days work required to implement AI for a key feature in this DLC.
Released just in time for Christmas, its rather clear where PDX's priorities laid.

The patch released alongside it was extremelly buggy at launch and, though the economic rework was quite good, its horrid performance made mid-late game pretty much unplayable at the time.

Europa Universalis IV: Common Sense
 –

Scummy*****

Back when this was released the game became unplayable without purchasing this thing. Development was introduced as an important core mechanic to the game, but was only unlocked by buying this. Very scummy.

IIRC in 2020 development unlock was finally moved into the base game. But yeah, "common sense is not so common".
