Same Old...

I skipped many of the games because the objectives for them were unclear.

Dead Cells
 –

Not easy, but very satisfying.

Dead Cells is a challenging roguelite platformer with good meta progression. The game is responsive and plays fluidly. While it isn't an easy platformer, it's an accessible one with a mostly gradual learning curve. Even players who don't excel at this type of game will quickly improve and make progress. Some difficulty spikes aside, this is a satisfying game that offers many hours of playtime. Great soundtrack, too.

Airport Madness 3D
 –

One of those games which is quick to learn but hard to master.

Synopsis: 7/10; one of those games which is quick to learn but hard to master.

You act as an air traffic controller, directing which planes can land and which can depart an airport. You can delay planes delaying, you can adjust their speed, you can direct planes to taxi on the runway and wait before take-off, and so on...quite basic stuff, and there isn't a whole host of things that you can do. But with an increasing number of planes, increasing number of runways to manage, and emergencies that can take place, it can become quite challenging to avoid collisions and ensure that planes leave/depart the airport in a reasonable amount of time. There are some good scenarios as well to spice things up a-bit.

Whilst the graphics are nothing to shout home about, this is a great game for when you just want something relatively simple, casual yet challenging and thus not boring, and lightweight in terms of resources consumed on your computer (so it doesn't melt your hardware or drain your battery within 15 minutes if you're on a laptop).

This Is The Police
 –

Perhaps not great, but still enjoyable and thus recommended.

Synopsis: 7/10; you're in the shoes of the chief of police, and should thus set the standard in ethics and morality...and yet, you are faced with some, shall we say, 'interesting' choices/decisions...

The main objective of this game is to determine whether to respond to calls made by citizens requesting the help of police, and which policemen to send if you decide it's something worthy of investigation and not some sort of prank call (thus wasting precious resources, in terms of policemen that could have been used for genuine emergencies). You also need to solve cases using detectives, essentially by trying to guess the correct sequence of events and then arresting the perpetrator.
Thankfully, it's not that simple; while the calls you receive are pre-determined (so you could cheat and look up the proper approaches online if so desired), you get to choose the police and detectives that you recruit. Moreover, as the game progresses, you also need to consider the interactions among policemen, finances, and are faced with making some interesting choices...although I don't want to spoil your fun, so I won't comment much further.

I would stop short of calling it a great game, chiefly because there is an element of repetition that may become a-bit tedious, but it is certainly a very good game imho; the simplicity in learning the basics, the storyline, the good music, and the simple yet appealing graphics all combine to make an enjoyable experience.

HUMANKIND™ Digital Deluxe Edition

Not just an alternative for Civilization

I suppose it's unavoidable comparing Humankind to Civilization, so this is my take on it: I like both, I welcome the innovations Humankind bring to the genre, and I think (and hope!) they will coexist and thrive.

I won't say much about the conventional and expected features in a 4X game: they're well implemented and funny enough. But I think Humankind's main strength lives on its general design, way more streamlined than Civilization.

Though it's possible achieving a technological or "space race" victory, it doesn't feel as "gamey" as the religion or culture features in Civilization; Humankind's approach is closer to grand-strategy games like Europa Universalis IV: economy, diplomacy and military power are the real game, with several mechanics to influence them. I find this approach more organic, coherent and plausible than Civilization's.

I also love its dynamic cultural system, which allows you to "adapt" your strategy to your circumstances.

I'm looking forward to Humankind's development. Amplitude has done a great job in its initial release, so they've won my trust to what comes next.

Cities: Skylines - Industries
 –

Game changing DLC

Changes game dynamics.

First and foremost industries let you generate a lot of income.

It almost allow player to drop industry zones completly (this can be a trap for newcomers - you still need them to supply for comercial zones and emergency shelters).

Adds another layer of complexity with balacing production chain within given industry. Personally, I like it - however if you do not like micromanaging it you can find it troublesome.

HUMANKIND™ Digital Deluxe Edition
 –

A good 4X game!

IF you like 4X chances are you will enjoy this game.
if you want a CIV Clone this isn't it and you should give it pass.

The strenght of this title is twofold. Has a big map and the military is interlined with the economy part of the empire. This means that unlike CIV by focusing on military you lose acess to some economic power (because each unit requires pop; although you can get the pop back if you disband the unit).

The weakness of the game is faith and polutions , both of which feel very underwhelming and "useless"

Knowing that amplitude usually supports their games I think with 1 or 2 expansions this game can really shine.

New Yankee 10: Under the Genie's Thumb
 –

Love the entire New Yankee series. MORE!

Still one or two of the entire series where I cannot get Expert within time limit but that's okay! I find the humor delightful — just enough for a smile — and I still flinch when one of the workers gets bitten by a scorpion. :-). Ouch!
