Too bad digital download is nonrefundable
I would not recommend that anyone purchase this game for any reason. If I took the time to figure out how to "play" -I use the term loosely- this game I would find myself sick of it by the time I had even a novice appreciation for the controls. The game is totally lacking any meaningful tutorial or help section, and is basically a total piece of garbage.
I have the new iMac. It has a 24' screen, the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, the most powerful graphics ever available in an iMac. "With the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS and 512MB of dedicated video memory, this 24-inch iMac configuration reaches a whole new, blow-you-away level of detail and realism in games, three-dimensional graphics, high-resolution photos, and high-definition video." (as per the apple web site). I ONLY mention this because I found the Scruffs game to be the worst "hidden object" game I've ever played. While I absolutely love these types of games, this particular one was AWFUL. The images were poorly rendered, the games within the story were badly done and, after playing the demo version, I would never buy "The Scruffs" for myself, let alone for my kids. Thanks for letting me vent.
Good Hidden Object game with great mini puzzles and games.
A nicely integrated story, multileveled with many mini puzzles. The only complaint I can find with this game is that it ended rather abrubtly. You can play in relaxed or time mode but you are not timed on the mini puzzles. That was kind of nice. Great graphics. It has an interesting hint based system in which you must find jewels to fit in an amulet. When the five jewels are collected, you get a magic spell to help find things. Very good game!
I was disappointed with this game. The graphics, while improved, really got in the way of gameplay. Also, the gameplay has changed to the point where I have to go through tedious tutorials to learn how to play. I figured it out, but there's just not the fun that the first two games had. Also, I highly recommend the game Victoria. While I think Paradox is a great game company, nobody's perfect. They have unfortunately fallen short with this one.
I bought this for my daughter because we thought that they would get progressively harder, but instead seemed to get easier. My daughter finished it just one day after I bought it, hoping there would be more to it than that. She said that some of the puzzles were just too easy for her!! Her favorite puzzles were the ones where you had to find the items and use them to solve the puzzle in the room. My daughter is 14 and said that this was much easier than she thought when she played the demo. Hopefully, my other daughter, my son, and I can all play it as well to get my money's worth out of this game. My daughter enjoyed it while it lasted, but we may not buy the sequel to this game if it comes out.
16 cases to lost cases to solve. Scotland Yard couldn't do it, but Sherlock and I could! I like the fact that you can end each case and move on. Give more of a feeling of accomplishment. Levels definitely get harder as you go on. The put more mini games in the further you go and more suspects. Kind of corny stories (some better than others) and some funny lines. If you don't need to repeat any levels a fairly quick game. You do not get penalize quickly for wrong clicks, but beware, when you do the clock takes a full 8 minutes off your time. I am not crazy about the magnifying cursor, however you do need it. I really enjoyed the game, much more than the other Sherlock games out there!!
I got totally hooked on this game SUPRISINGLY! I don't usually play many of these types but I tried and was hooked at the GETGO! I am not sure why...I think I just had to finish it. I played it every spare moment until I did. Just try it and you will see. Lots of levels, bombs, music and Levels get harder as you go. The longer combinations you make, more points etc. I am still surprised at how much I enjoyed it!
What can I say? I agrees with the other reviewers...Fun for all ages, different challenges than your average H/0 game. I would definitely look forward to a sequel. The kids , teens and adults in our family enjoyed it, which makes for good value in our household!

An Enjoyable game with witty dialogue
I am 3/4's of the the way through playing this game and quite enjoy it. There are 16 different cases and some are better than others. In the middle of each game you will find a mini game instead of at the end. You then put the susects in order visually using common traits within each suspect. Once they are in order the suspect will disappear and reappear with one of them holding something different. You click on the right card and you will find the guilty party by PROCESS OF ILIMINATION. At first it seemed way to easy but they are getting harder as I go along. If you find shelock's cap in every scene there is and extra round at the end. Not an overly long game but very enjoyable.
A lavish mystery adventure game featuring 16 unique cases of forgery, espionage, theft, murder and more.

Best RTS since Total Annihilation
If RTS is your thing, this is an excellent title. There are a slew of vehicles, weapons, and missions - I'll be engrossed for a good long while. The strategic and tactical possibilities are very large. I often find myself thinking about my current mission while I'm doing other things, thinking up new ways to approach situations.
The UI is not the best I've ever seen, but it's decent enough. IMO a great addition would be the ability to make notes on the map, which you can do in the multiplayer version but not the single player. But it's a minor quibble. All the actions can be accomplished via a small block of buttons or with keyboard commands. The interface elements are compact and don't get in the way. I've found one small bug - the caps lock key is supposed to call aircraft, but doesn't.
The graphics are a bit dated, but well-crafted and attractive. It's all 2D isometric, which is really all that's needed. My only real complaint is that some of the animations are so small it can be hard to tell exactly what a unit is doing. Sometimes I'll sit and watch an artillery unit for several seconds before realizing that yes, they are responding to my fire command.
The weapons sounds are nice and satisfying. The voices can get a little annoying after a while, but I generally play with the sound off anyway.
It's been pretty stable and plenty fast on my 1.67MHz G4 laptop and my quad-core G5 desktop. It seems to run at the same speed on both platforms - smooth but not breakneck. I haven't had to adjust. I've had it crash to the desktop twice - once on each machine.
Overall, I think it's a good buy. I've been looking for a good RTS for a long while, and this seems to be it.
