iBomber Defense

Engaging

This was a fun one. A straight forward "shoot 'em up" that also requires a bit of strategy. The controls are a bit tough to get used to. You have to move using the keyboard to drive and the mouse to target and shoot, something that doesn't sound terribly difficult but ends up being a bit more challenging in practice. The $6.99 price tag is quite reasonable for a game that has such clean, colorful graphics and is sufficiently challenging to play.

Garden Rescue Christmas Edition

Parts that I hate about this game

Generally I enjoy this but I HATE those levels where the game chooses the plants and defenses you will use. This is a particular problem in Level 18, where there are not enough spots to place said plants, so you are left with the weakest plants. It is impossible to get past the 15th wave out of 21. I hate to admit it but I have replayed this level so many times that I no longer want to bother with this game.

When you consider that this happens at the EASIEST level, this makes no sense...the creators really screwed up on this one.

The Showdown Effect Deluxe Edition
 –

Zany Multiplayer Action

The showdown effect takes cliched action heroes and effects and mashes them together into a fast-paced and challenging multiplayer experience. Its hard to learn, but definitely an entertaining blend of visuals, sounds and gameplay. Since it supports up to 8 player matches, its a great game to play with friends. Check it out!

Gothic Fiction: Dark Saga

Not Bad

For a nice change this "puzzle" game is not a HO masquerading as something else. The puzzles are easy enough for younger players, but still challenging enough for everyone.

It freezes!

This game freezes and there is absolutely no way of getting it working again. Not even reinstalling!

Downhill fast

Not bad at first, but I just couldn't stomach one of the liquids you have to play with. If you are squeamish, stay away. Otherwise, not too bad.

Awakening: The Skyward Castle
 –

This does not conclude the series....

Awakening: The Dreamless Castle; Awakening: Moonfell Wood; Awakening: Goblin Kingdom; and now Awakening: The Skyward Castle. This series follows Princess Sophia from the moment she "awakens" within the Dreamless Castle unaware of who she is and what her mission is to be. She follows a course fate has set upon her: to help her people and to find her parents and ultimately to fulfill her own destiny. Forces work against her, but she forges ahead with much welcomed help. This series is very much an adventure game. Well worth-while. I recommend it.

Build-a-lot: The Elizabethan Era

Can't even try it!

I'd love to try this game, but on my 2010 Macbook Pro, the screen is so blinky that I couldn't even try it.

People with epilepsy should beware; the strobe-like glitches are scary.

Awesome!

Been playin Civ V on my PC for a while. Just got a macbook for work and I taught to myself, if I can only have one my on my mac it's gonna be Civ V. Sadly my mac can't run Civ V but I now have Civ IV complete for a real good price. If you like turn based micromanagement, you will love it !

Dracula 1 - Resurrection
 –

Too little at stake...

Dracula Resurrection tries hard to be an interactive puzzle game with a horror theme, but it lacks any puzzles or thrills and is almost totally linear - you cannot proceed past certain points until you have done certain things.

But worst of all is that there is no jeopardy - if you don't do those certain things nothing happens - literally! You do not suffer in any way, you cannot die or lose, you simply don't proceed. So what's the point?

That leaves the story and the animation. The former is silly and the latter is clunky and dated. If you can get this game very cheap - less than $5 - it will fill a few hours but pay no more for this click and point hack that is, frankly, disappointingly dull.
