Buggy and unbalanced

I downloaded the demo and tried the first level on easy. With the amount of gold coins they give you it's extremely hard to beat the first stage. I don't take issue with the game being hard, but it' the first stage. Give people a chance to ease in and feel like we are doing a good job then hit us with an absurd amount of enemies.

Also, most tower defense games have a similar formula; hit the enemy at the head of the line. The dart towers in this game will randomly turn and shoot other enemies behind the leader when the leader is clearly in the radius of the tower. That is frustrating.

The problems are enough for me to pass on this.

Pretty graphics but...

Loved the castle design but game crashed towards end of story line- disappointing to have to start all over again.

Broken graphics

This game has no support by publisher, if you happen to have the 'units invisible' bug that's quite common noone will even bother responding to questions wtf

Old School Fun

This game totally rocks. It's a simple premise, side to side shooter, but super old school fun.

Dreadful

So many things wrong with this game, and not just the terrible server issues.

The traffic simulation remains badly broken.

Sims constantly complain about lack of shops, parks, jobs, police, transport links, water, power, you name it, when there's plenty of all of them.

The space you're given to make cities in is tiny, a fraction of what it was in every previous game.

And you can't save the game then destroy it with aliens and re-load the old save, which was half the fun.

A shadow of the game it used to be, and that's assuming you can get into a server.

The end of SimCity, for me.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

It's Batman. What more do you need to know?

Dark, claustrophobic, and brilliantly captures the essence of the darker side of the caped crusader. Some neat set pieces, plenty of kicking ass, some stealth, and plenty to see and do. Looks better than the console versions if you turn the detail up and switch all the options on, and even with everything on the go it runs respectably on my 2-year-old MacBook Pro (Intel HD 3000)...

Always be yourself. Unless you can be Batman - then, always be Batman.

Virtual Families 2

A big improvement on the first

I've been a fan of the first Virtual Families game for a while, and although I've enjoyed playing it I always wished there was more customization. The second game certainly delivers on this. You start off the game in a house with only a few usable rooms and over the generations you have to restore it and fill it up with different items and accessories. The house has more rooms than in the first game, and there are considerably more items to purchase. Some of the stuff can't be bought until a number of generations have lived in the house, and the price of items varies with some things costing a lot of money.

The game is admittedly a bit slow to get going. You don't start with much money and it takes time to make it. It's best not to splurge on little bits and pieces but rather buy a few essential things like a bed, and a tv for some entertainment, then leave things for a few days until your money builds up.

Overall the game looks much better than the first, there is far more detail in the characters and the house. There are also more customization options with different furniture and accessories. Random in-game events like mail from the tax department and orphans showing up on your door help to keep things interesting. Definitely not a fast paced game, nor as involved as the most popular life sim on the market, but if you're a fan of similar games you'll probably enjoy this one. A fun game and more than worth the asking price.
