Hard Rock Racing

Hard Rock Racing is a fast paced and action packed combat car racing game for your Mac. Awesome car physics, homing missiles, proximity mines, insane explosions, single- and multiplayer modes and great hard rock music will give you a racing experience like never before.

The game takes place in a huge virtual city and features 40 race tracks separated in circuit races (round tracks with 5 laps) and sprint races (A to B races). Beside circuit and sprint races there’s also a free driving mode where you can explore the city without any time limits, but fully equipped with weapons. Hard Rock Racing is different than any other racing game - it has a fantastic mixture of tracks where you need your weapons to win the race by shooting and bombing your opponents right from the track, but also insane high speed tracks where it is mostly down to great driving ability needed to win the track. Select yourself which tracks you like most!

In Hard Rock Racing you get rewarded with in-game cash for nearly every action you do in a race . You receive cash for crashing other cars, for explosions caused by your missiles and mines that affect other cars, for jumping over epic ramps and getting airtime cash, for driving best laps and best race times as well as for winning the top ranks in a race. Use that in-game cash to unlock tracks and race modes.

All tracks can be raced in 4 difficulty modes ranging from easy to medium over to hard and finally the insane mode. That means to master all tracks in all modes you need to race and win 160 races! But don’t worry, if you can’t win a track in a regular race and tried 3 times to race it, you can just buy the unlocking of the track to continue to the next race. This allows all players - from beginners to experts - to master all cups and tracks in all difficulty modes.

But Hard Rock Racing does not only feature a great singleplayer experience, the game has also multiplayer built in. Race with you friends (or foes) online or in a LAN and shoot their cars with your missiles and bomb them off the track with your proximity mines! The following multiplayer game types are available: Free Driving, Circuit Races and Foxhound. Up to 10 human players can play together in a race.

The game runs in any native resolution your Mac offers – in windowed and fullscreen mode. The graphics settings can be adjusted and tweaked in detail to let the game run perfectly on your Mac. Tips for optimizing your graphics settings can be found in the FAQ section on the support website. There you find also a forum to talk to other players and also do matchmaking for online races.

Hard Rock Racing supports the keyboard, Joypads and Joysticks as controller input. Feel free to choose whatever steering method you like most.

Enjoy Hard Rock Racing and see you on the race track!

  1. Nice Arcade Feel! Better with Steering Wheel or gamepad.

    by JaguarGod, USA - Apr 25th 2012

First of all, the game is better with a wheel or a gamepad! I am a sim racer and a Mac sim racing game developer, so it is very nice to play an arcade style racer. This game really fits that category. It can really be A LOT of fun and the booming bass sounds great on my racing setups. Works well with my G27 (No FFB, but still feels pretty good). I feel the game is well worth the $4.99 I paid. Thank you.

    PROS:
    - A lot of tracks
    - Good sound and explosions
    - Cheap price, but not cheaply made
    - A lot of tweaks can be made to controls
    - Works with controllers and steering wheels (This is a big one for me)

    CONS:
    - The control can still be a bit awkward and the physics can feel a little crazy at times
    - No hood cam (I am a sim racer so it may just be me who likes this option. A cockpit view would be exceptional!)

All in all a good game that I have to admit is MUCH better than I was expecting.

  2. So nice looking, so unplayable

by Ingemar Ragnemalm, Sweden - Aug 25th 2011

Graphically, this game is just right. Well, as long as you don't run into the bugs, and there are bugs. But that is a minor issue. A bigger issue is that the game is virtually unplayable. The controls (keyboard) are so bad that I lose control all the time, going into directions I had no intention to go. So unless it gets a major update, I won't play it any more. A waste of money - fortunately a small amount.

It might be a lot more fun with a joystick, but then they should say so.
