This War of Mine

Surprisingly good game

I don't think I can add anything that the other reviewers have already said. Very well done game. As the game has progressed I've found I get attached to the people I am trying to help survive.

Here's some examples. Trying to pick which of my starving survivors gets to loose another nights sleep to search for food... then come up empty handed because I either chose the wrong place or I got chased off by other scavengers... it really puts this game on another level. Then, with what ever supplies I did scrounge up, having to choose what to make to improve my little crews lives can end up being life and death choices. God forbid if someone gets sick or injured, meds and bandages are a pain to find or trade for.

Really well thought out game, really well made (not one glitch or crash or random weird issue... awesome for an independent). I hope to see more from this developer. Buy it and play it... you won't regret it.

Warlock 2: The Exiled
 –

Meh...

Warlock 2 has it's pluses and minuses. Where the game fails there are user mods availible to handle it. Did I expect more... kinda. The magic system is pretty interesting, but that's about it. I also like that pretty much every aspect of the game is modifiable.

Best I can say about this game is it'll kill 2 or 3 hours of your time if you don't have anything else to do.

Journey of a Roach

Not bad...

Game isn't all that bad. I might have been a bit let down if I had to pay for it, but it was free and you can't beat that.

Europa Universalis IV

Everything they said...

Is true, this is a solid game. The learning curve is a little steep. I've been playing it for a couple days and I've found, at times, I'm trying to figure out what to do next. Paying attention to the advisory tabs in the game help nudge you in the right direction, and luckily there is a ranking system so you know about how well you are doing as compared to other nations. Plus, just like any good strategy game, nothing that is done can't be undone by going to a previous save. If you're into evenly paced games that you can play on your terms (when you want to not when you need to) this is probably a pretty good choice. Not as much level of detail as Crusader King but more than CIV5... kind of has a not too hot, not too cold, but just right kind of feeling about it.

Oh, those of you wondering if your integrated video card will work... I have an Iris Pro on my iMac desktop with 1.5GB of VRAM... Mac Game Store says the game won't work on my computer... it works just fine at the highest video settings. So there's somewhat of a benchmark for you if you're on the fence because of that.

Unity of Command

Don't miss out

Probably one of the most approachable, easy to get into, complex strategy game I've played. One of the few strategy games I own where the AI actually thinks like a human player might. It also, has just enough of a challenge to make the normal victories rewarding and the desire to get a perfect score seem just out of reach but attainable.

If you pass this little gem up you'll regret it.

Might & Magic X - Legacy Deluxe Edition
 –

Good game but...

Kind of glitchy. The game likes to lock up when you move from world map to dungeon. Certain areas I couldn't get into because the game would freeze. I figured out a work around (decline entering then try again worked every time), just seems in this day and age this shouldn't happen.

I love the old-school feel to the game. I hate talking to merchants/quest givers cause the frame rates are so low that it feels like the game's about to crash.

All in all a good game the pluses out weight the minuses.
