The game is advertised to guitar players of all skill levels. However, most of the non-DLC songs in the game are on the easier side. Moreover, the game will not show all the notes that need to be played on any given song until you "prove" your level - even if you initially manually selected the highest skill level. It is only possible to display all the notes in Riff Repeater if you manually change the difficulty to 100.
Furthermore, even though my PC comfortably exceeds the minimum requirements, the latency in my guitar was audible enough to be borderline unplayable.
Finally, the game completely disregards the guitar tablature that has been standard in print and online for decades. Instead, it uses a confusing color-coded system and markers reminiscent of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. While visually impressive, it is completely unnecessary and off-putting for more advanced guitar players.
I wanted to give the game a try because the premise is very interesting but I think I will stick to Guitar Pro from now on.
